Thom Johnson

I met Thom at a gathering. I found him very interesting to talk with and loved hearing about all his trips. He is very positive about CS and all the people he has stayed with and who have stayed with him. Since I am new it made me feel that I am on the right track!!!

 

Tom is a kind person and he is always talking and is a very instructive and interesting...had a really nice time with him and his other couchsurfing friends...well if you want to have a great hanging out with a laughing person... just couch tom....

 

Thom is really cool and friendly and talks very open about some things a lot of ppl wouldn't be so open about. I love that about him! Thom is also interested in what surrounds him. I really liked our conversation about the differences between The Netherlands and the US, but also the similarities :-) Thom is also a modest guy, but what he writes about a wild side that we both have is true... We also had some nice Thai soup...oh and Thom: don't forget your gunpowder!!

 

Thomas is a very nice and easy going man, it was fun to host him at home. I hope we will meet again very soon.

I met Thom in Paris for a drink and some walk around the city. He is very interesting to chat with and I am looking forward to visiting him i Florida.

I was introduced to Thom by his best friend Bill and was pleasantly charmed by his upbeat, energetic and unpreditable persona. He is a blast to know and so much fun to be around. What a great guy he is and I am so happy to have met him. He had me laughing at a moments notice so that my face hurt. He is also a great singer and a great compliment to Bill, I am sure he is also Bill's hype man. LOL. Miss you Thom.

First met thom when we surfed with his friend Bill..Then hosted him & Bill for 2 nights on their recent & first vist to the UK. What a blast we had enjoyed his company & showing him the delights of Blackpool..he was amazed by the seaside town & all it has to offer. He was the perfect guest to host taking onboard our way of life here in the working environment we live in & enjoyed helping & seeing first hand how hard it is to run a b&b!!

Thom's a great CS ambassador (or potential ambassador....can't remember if he is yet or not). Super friendly, generous, hosted a very mellow potluck party. Missed the connection on the night out, but hopefully there'll be more chances for CS get togethers

Thom and I had a great time hitting up the little traditional hang-outs in my neighborhood. We talked about everything from crazy CS stories to our shared passion for communal living. He was super easy going and went along for the ride though it was a rainy, chilly night. By the end of the evening I felt like we had known each other for years. Hope to see you again soon Thom!

Thom is a really funny, open-minded, sincere and great guy, and it was really nice to be introduced to him by Bill! We met for lunch, and had a good time with him, his friends and his CSer Michel (from Belgium), talked about our travels, CS experiences,... and we met later in a bar where he was singing (he wanted to sing "La vie en rose" for me! Adorable! isn't it?). In any case, it was a pleasure for us to meet him... He brought a ray of sunshine in our cloudy day! Of course, we hope to see him again, in Florida or in France maybe?!

 

We met at Sugan Brown in a Lubbock Group meeting. Enjoyed Coffee later and shared Best Travel Stories with the Lubbock group and attended 1st Friday Art Show.

 

Thom and i took a road trip together. Going to Palo Duro Canyon. 2 hours each way plus mtb'ing and some site seeing. He's pretty open with his self, awesome!

after a short time thom and i realized that our interests and philosophies were akin. planning on surfing all over south florida to not overstay my welcome with any one host, i was pleased to change plans when he invited me to stay on a much longer term basis. i was very lucky to find such an awesome person to surf and room with. you can't find a more kind-hearted, generous and interesting guy [at least i haven't found one yet!] if more people were like thom, the world would be a much better place!

 

Thom always uplifts the spirits of whomever he is around. He is a wonderful communicator and definitely knows how to throw a party. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood would be lost without him.

Thom was an awesome guy, I wish I could have talked to him more! I hope to see him at a future CS event!

Thom is an inspiration and I think we could all learn a lot from this shining star.

 

Thom's Mom is a sweetie, so he must be too. Ok, he is! We spent a beautiful sunny January Florida afternoon in the park and hope our paths cross again real soon.

 

Thom is someone who has truly experienced couchsurfing to the fullest and continues to strive to do so! He was in Lubbock for several weeks for work and we met up many times. He is open and energetic and loves to have a good time. He really encouraged us to get our local CS group going. I hope to get to Florida sometime!

 

Thom was such a pleasure to meet. The local CS group went to a dueling piano bar where we sang and just had a blast. Thom knew the words to almost every song. Thom is a great ambassador to the CS Project. He described his experiences and gave us some pointers on how to get the most out of the group. Hope to have him back soon. Cheers Thom.

Thom is, by far, the best host to be found. He has a larger than life personality and will charm you with his generosity. He is to blame when at the end of your vacation you don't want to go home!!! Thanks Thom.

Thom is fantastic!!! He put my friend and I up for two days, and it was so nice. His house is amazingly comfortable, and just a 15 minute walk from hollywood blvd. He showed us around, gave us good directions, even made us breakfast one day, and threw us a potluck on the beach! His treatment spoiled us so much we didn't want to go back!! You're going to have to see his amazing heels, take a shower in his outside shower, and ride around in the back of his truck. :-) Can't wait to see you again Thom, you definitely have a place to stay if you're ever in these parts!

Thom was a very very gracious host. He took as into his home as if we were his long lost family and made us feel really at home right from the start. He was even concerned enough to go out of his way to make sure we weren't lost on the way back to Hollywood from the Everglades, where we went one day. A truly great host, and I hope I'll have the possibility to return his hospitality one day.

Thom is one of the most beautiful people you could ever meet. He lives life with gusto and has a heart as big as the Grand Canyon. He lives life with so much love and JOY...he exemplifies CS. Thom is a fun guy who is full of positive energy. He knows how to dance and is a great singer. He was gracious to host me after the pancake mania event! I look forward to hanging out with the great group of CSr's in Hollywood!

 

When you are traveling around in an foreign country, you do miss the feeling of a real home, where you can rest, feel relaxed and great. Those precisious moments, when you find a place, where you feel "like home", are just ... invaluable.

Luckily I had the chance to stay at Thom's house, and spend hours chatting about different things. Also, we went to a great Clambake festival, met lots of other great guys there, visited a CS party and other great events! He is a really open minded, honest person, fun to stay at his place!

Without any exaggeration: unbelievable guy, unique personality, very helpful and cool (like someone from the movies).
Like he writes in his profile, he is truly open-minded (i thought i was, but he is even more), never judging anyone, always willing to help out. very clean person (always cleaning ;)), working on a dozen house projects at the same time (even now, when writing this, he is cleaning the kitchen after drinking his special tee called Yerea Mate)
He did everything possible to entertain me here, cooked, took me out to the beach and the bars, invited a friend of his, organized a couchsurfing gathering...
You possibly can't ask for a better host. I almost felt like home actually. Thanks a lot Thom! Keep in touch... and all the best for all of your projects!

Thom was welcoming and friendly. He reached out by email to connect before the event and did a great job of bringing everyone together. My first sight of him was when he was dancing up a storm to a band on the beach. His personality is effervescent.

 

Thom is an amazing person, and amazing host... he made a brief, hectic pass through his town into a relaxed, fun, easy passage!!

My husband Cannon and I stayed at Thom's place for one night as we had a layover in Ft. Lauderdale. He gave us a king and queen's welcome! What a host! We had a fun time, thanks again for everything Thom!

 

Thom is a very amazing person. After several months of messages, we first met in person in Barcelona Sants railway station they were arriving from Madrid by train; I was driving from Nice to Sitges. I immediately felt like if we knew each other since years!
We finally drove together to Nice where it has been a new experience;
I really hope to keep Thom as a Friend and may be host him in a other part of France, or meet him in the states or anywhere else

Thom is great! He is really friendly and we had a lot of fun sharing stories about our double-rainbow in the desert! :) I look forward to meet him again!

 

Thom and I met in Barcelona during his trip around Europe. Shortly after saying hello, we realized that we're both from southern Maine! What are the chances that we'd meet halfway around the world on the coast of the Mediterranean instead of the Atlantic? We had a fantastic time chatting it up at the bar. Thom is a friendly and honest guy and I can't wait to see him again in the US!

 

Thom passed by Mobile on his way home from Houston. I was unable to host him, but he met me at the Starbucks where I was studying. We talked for a little over an hour and he seems to be a really nice guy. He looks much younger than he is and he's full of enegy. He changed clothes at the Starbucks and was ready to hit Mobile's nightlife. I was really busy with school or else I'd have gone partying with him.

I spent a short time hosting Thom in Eureka Springs, AR. He was a pleasure and is welcome in my home anytime. He is very considerate and went well out of his way to make sure I didnt feel inconvienenced and even paid for breakfast!

 

Thom understands life… he has his eyes wide open and is ready to soak up all the world has to offer. He is very polite, yet makes himself at home and is no trouble at all. He has the best “Couchsurfing Spirit” of anyone that I have met. We went out for a great dinner and great conversation, and then stopped in at couple unique bars here in OKC. There was not much going on since it was a Sunday night, but we didn’t let that ruin our fun. I’m sure we’ll see Thom again!

I met Thom at a potluck in Haulover Beach and can guarantee you he is a great guy, really hospitable and transmits good vibes. He’s definitely adventurous and friendly. I look forward to having great times in future gatherings with him.

 

Thom is an awesome guy. We only met for a short period, like an hour or so, but he left a great impression. He is fun and celebrative and an incredible guest.

 

I first met Thom at a coffee shop with first another surfer. It turned out the woman sitting next to us was a surfer too who just moved to Asheville. We then asked another customer to take a photo of us and he joined our table and was given a brief picture of just what we're about and how to join us.
Thom met me later that night for a great dinner at The Laughing Seed and then he surfed with me. I grew up in Hollywood, Fl where he lives. I'm so happy to have met him and become friends with him. I wish he could have stayed longer because I had a little brunch that Sunday and it would have been great to introduce him to other friends who would meet each other for the first time that day too. I really enjoy introducing people to each other.
I really look forward to becoming closer friends with Thom. He's a very fun, captivating, and interesting guy with so many wonderful qualities. He was my second guest and I'm so pleased to be a part of this wonderful Couch Surfing network. I look forward to exchanging stories and photos of our upcoming trips, his to Europe and mine to Maceio, Brasil.

This guy is hillarious. I cannot wait to get to Florida and surf his couch. He is upbeat and a blast to be around. Coffee was awesome and he is really knowledgeable about the couchsurfing community--great to talk to if you are new!

I stayed in Thom and his roommate Dennis's place for one night.
He was very kind and considerate with me. We talked and walkd on the beach and I had a great time with him.
A great guy I feel lucky and proud to know and i hope we will meet again in the future.

 

I first met Thom at a potluck he put together in his beautiful home in Hollywood, Florida. Two things that stood out to me immediately was the fact that he allowed me to cook in his kitchen (which I love doing) and that he encouraged attendees to bring photos and share travel stories or network wisdom about using the Couchsurfing system itself. Always warm and welcoming, as well as up for adventure and building community, I knew right away that Thom was not only going to make a great CS Ambassador one day, but that he was also going to someone I would call friend for a long time to come. Host him or surf with him if you can - he'll light up your life!

I got to meet Thom at the potluck - one of the coolest people I've ever met. We had tons of fun at Haulover and Thom even convinced me to sing a little bit. WE MUST do this again. And YOU guys gotta meet him. DO IT!

Update - I got to surf with Thom a few days before his big journey and it just added to my fascinated appreciation of him. He's extremely warm, open, welcoming, interesting, entertaining.... I enjoyed talking with him and discovering the FLL Id never known before. OH, and his house is Amazing. I hope to run into him somewhere along his trip and perhaps introduce him to Athens if he passes that way. But yes, staying with Thom comes highly recommended.

 

Thom is great! I surfed at his place for five days with two friends and it was no problem for him to host all three of us. He is that outgoing kind of person that is enjoying live a lot and he takes every opportunity to experience lives pleasures. Besides that Thom cares a lot or his guests and shares his pleasures with them. I hope I will have the time to come back to Hollywood/florida one day.

 

I had the pleasure of meeting Thom on my recent trip to Ft. Lauderdale, and was very impressed with his open, playful, and generous spirit. I had a blast cutting the rug at a local club with him, and the next evening he invited me over to his cozy house with a bunch of his friends to share a delicious stir fry. I look forward to spending more time with Thom this summer in New England, and would completely trust this very cool guy to couch surf with us for a chunk of time, any time.

Thom is an Excellent host. He is very enthusiastic outgoing member of the CS project. Both he and his Roommate who's also on CS (see Webguy), are both well-traveled individuals with lots of great stories from CS and beyond. I hope we cross paths again soon.

Thom is one very cool guy!!!! I haven't had the chance to surf with him yet, but he put on a killer party for the local CS crew at his very cool house in Hollywood! Thom has been my dearest friend for more than 10 years. Over the years, he has lived with me and I have lived with him for short periods of time. So I can tell you first hand that he is both a gracious host and considerate guest. I hope you get a chance to meet him some day since he will truly touch your life. I feel blessed to have him as an integral part of my life.

Thom is a caring person, his couch is great! I really enjoyed surfing his couch. I could not have asked / dreamed of a better 1st time.

I met Thom at a Couchsurfing get-together at the Fort Lauderdale Ale House. He's a really nice guy and sounds like he's very excited about the Couchsurfing project. After the Ale House, we all went to my apartment so we could talk as a group in a quieter environment, and Thom shared some of his interesting experiences like going to Burning Man. I definitely hope to see him at the next get-together!

 

Thom is a very considerate person. Always thinking about how decisions will effect other people. We met at a CS get together in Ft Lauderdale. He made the decision on the wonderfully decadent chocolate cake. He has some wonderful travel stories. Can't wait to talk to him agian.
