Tim Tolka

I've known Tim for several years.
We met in Brooklyn and when in the SF Bay Area, we would meet up and hike in Redwood Park etc.
He came to some of my music gigs and I hung at his pad in the city. Good guy and very friendly.
Also, he is great at languages and he has a gift.
Tim Tolka is an A1 fellow.

Tim is a lot of fun and quite the character. I would gladly host him any time. An adventerous spirit for sure.

I have known Tim through many moons and several lives, and I would recommend him to anyone as an excellent host.

i just realized i never left a refernce to tim. now, one year after we met in NYC in a bar downtown i still think of this open, smart and fun guy who invited me and my friends to this great party in this amazing building in brooklyn. hope you are doing well.

 

What can I say about Tim that is not already said (and done)? Whatever I can tell you about him it won't be enough. But to describe him in just a few words: fun, cool, smart, crazy, interesting, nice...and did I mention fun?? He is the kind of guy that everybody knows, in NY or in China (well, maybe not, but close). So if you ever have the chance to meet him I'm sure it would be something you will remember forever, trust me.

Tim is part of my stationary CS community here in San Francisco, another wonderful local I met through a traveler. I'm always so happy to see his smile.

I met Tim through another good CS friend in Buenos Aires. In some odd way... we kept running into each other. Overall, Tim is a funny, charming, open-minded, cool guy! Too bad we didn't take photos together! Oh, I am heading to Peru in two weeks.

I hung out with Tim at a show in SF, the next day he was kind enough to give me a place to rest for a few hours after I'd been walking all over the city. Tim is really chill and I felt like I learned a lot from him just talking and exchanging ideas. Great meeting you Tim!

tim is an amazing person to run into! he is really funny, generous and interesting to talk to... we had some bizarre conversations on literature, but we also went to see punk bands, and drinking in cool secret spots around the city! THANKS! and his friends are also really cool.. me saco el sombrero ante este embajador!

Tim is the best way to improve ones social life. He has magic about him that allows you to meet everyone cool possible. We lived together in Mexico and hang in NYC whenever possible. All have been great experiences.

Tim speaks really good spanish. It was fun to practice speaking with him and wear a sombrero.

I met Tim while hearing him have an Italian lesson at a café. We struck up a conversation in Italian and I am really amazed to meet a guy like him. He has a natural talent for Romance language, a great accent, personality and we share the same love for partying.

 

Hosting Tim was a pleasure, long ago when he was one of my first guests! And now I am very happy we met again! My couch will always be available for Tim!

Me and Sara's new room mate. He's got great stories of is journeys around the globe. Speaks Spanish and Portuguese almost as much as english so I hope I can pick some of it up now that I live with him. Funny as hell and good to give you a smile. Oh yeah, he writes like Thomas Jefferson.

 

Timmo Tolka... is a legend we stayed with our friends Deke & Sara in San Fran on route to Vegas and he was very open to us staying.. A true surfer himself, wish we stayed longer and chill out more with you guys in the Bay Area... Will see you guys soon.. AWESOME night...thanks

Tim is a blast. He laughs hard and laughs often, and you always want to laugh with him. He throws and catches a great party with equal dexterity. And he knows a lot of stuff about lots of stuff.

 

Tim is one of the most fun people I have the pleasure of calling friend. He has a curious way of bringing groups of quality people together and creating adventures from the most banal situations. He is a true character whom I would advise anyone to spend an afternoon or a week with.

 

Tim is a really fun well versed linguistically capable wonderful specimen of a CSer! Thank you for having us at your party and hopefully we shall meet again, under more personable circumstances! Enjoy Frisco!

Tim is a wizard of debauchery and fun and you will eventually encounter him at some point in your life's journey. When this happens be prepared to find yourself thrashing in a vortex of simultaneous confusion and ecstasy. Enchanted by his crazy antics, fancy pants, bewitching eyes, good taste and delightful shenanigans, you will quickly realize that resisting his alluring charm, wit and humor is completely futile. As his gyrating hips and shining aura lure you to the dancefloor, just let go and allow yourself to be subdued by his sorcery to live and enjoy life.

Tim is in love with life and in love with love AND it is totally infectious. He can pull fun out of thin air and is truly the best company. I recommend lubing him up with a bottle of wine for maximum results.

 

Tim, is an articulate and cultured guy. He is at ease with all types of people. The most accommodating host and guide you could hope for. He is always running with fun and interesting people. The kind of guy that makes this thing really work!

 

Your belly will hurt from laughter in the presence of this man. He can engage any wallflower in conversation and there is not a time that I have ever seen him that he is not smiling. Tim Tolka is Terrific...

tim hosted me in his place in redhook when i had only been in NYC for a few days. he and his roommate found the time to host even though they are both busy and i wrote them with very short notice. tim made me feel like part of the city taking me out meeting his friends. he helped me in my search for an apartment and introduced me to a bunch of nice people.

Tim is nutty just as he is fun and smart. Quick on his feet and with moves to awe any lady, how can you not enjoy his vivacious presence?

Tim saved me from sleeping in the train station! He is the kind of guys that make CSing work! He has a kind roommate and a very friendly cat also ...

Tim is a great cool guy. Thanks to him I could see many faces of New York.

Tim is the ultimate vagabond, with no inhibitions, and always an open mind and spirit. He is ALWAYS honest, perhaps, sometimes a bit too honest. He is one of my closest friends, I love him, and am grateful to him for provoking and inspiring the glowing travel bug within me.

 

Tim is a typical Fire sign. He burns with a prodigious flame. I kept from being singed because, a Fire sign myself (Sagittarius), his intensity fed my own. And so it went during our conversations: his turn, then mine, at incandescing. My one piece of advice for him and for myself--what I learned from Buddhist monks--is to "pull in one's fires." Otherwise, it's rampant, dispersed energy with no purpose and no focus. Tim is in the processs. So be alert: his heat is on.

I met Tim thanks to a guest and I was admirably smitten by his open outspokeness. I hadn't the chance to stay with him a long time but I'm convinced he has a lot of interesting thoughts and stories in his head so it would really be a pleasure to see him again!

 

Tim is a selfconfident seasoned traveler, very talented with languages.
Extremely generous host, his guests occupy more space in his appartment than himself. It is fun to know him little better and share more travel stories with him. Return soon!!

Tiiim!!! I haven't ever met a person crazier than him! As I told him, when I say "crazy" this means sooo good! You never know where he's living because the world is his house and in my opinion his most favourite hobby is to enjoy people and experiences! Am I right Tim?? When I was in New York living for a while he took care of me, introducing me his friends (even when he wasn't there) and he also showed me really nice places in the city! Awesome, huh?? He's a great guy with a lot of interesting things to share with his friends!

Tim is very well educated, well read and well travelled and really nice to be around. this guy has a heart of gold

haha. When you get to a new city contact Tim. He probably knows more about the city than people from there, including all the really interesting things to see like the garbage city and weddings. This guy doesn't use a guidebook either! A real traveller if there ever was one. Single woman will feel comfortable with him too...

Careful! Tim may just lead you into a strange dark alley in Cairo with a bunch of boisterous Egyptians and then sheesha you into a near coma. But he will laugh at your jokes and use the word "mustachioed" and therefore is an acceptable human being and fun character to be around.

i don' t know him well because we just had a few talks in Budapest bars, but he seems to be an open, kind and enthousiastic person to me. someone u want to know more about!

Tim helped me out with a place to stay although I called him on extremely short notice because I hadn't found a place to stay, yet. He's a seasoned hitchhiker and traveler himself and happy to tell a bootload of stories about his travels. He's a great host who'd give you the shirt off his back (well, actually it was out of his wardrobe, but he lent me his red shirt so I didn't have to wear all black when we hit the pubs one night). I had a great time hanging out with him and his friends in Budapest!

Tim is a very cool guy, i just had is phone number when i arrived in Budapest with a friend, he answered to our messages, proposed to meet in the evening, we had a great time going to pubs we would have never discovered without him and meeting people.

He very kindly hosted my friend and I on last minute notice in Budapest. Was very hospitable with us making sure we had plenty to eat and drink and introduced us to a bunch of other couchsurfers. I had unwittingly come to Budapest at the perfect time-- summer festivities, Hungarian independence day, and Tim Tolka´s birthday!=D We partied till sunrise by the Danube and discovered the coolest underground bars of Budapest...But beyond parties, Tim was a real blast and wonderful to talk to. A generous man with an open mind. Try to catch him wherever he is, you surely won´t regret spending time with him.

Unbelievable person, open for everyone and everything. Easily learns languages, even our hungarian which told to be not the easiest type. Introduced me and my friends to some great places of NY nightlife. Extremely flexible, and positive, lots of fun to be with, never stops smiling!!! (How do U do this?)

we hope this was a accident, and for sure tim is a great person, but for us couchsurfing with tim was a big disapointment.

Tim is the dude I want to be. He travels all over at a moments notice, reads smart books on the world and is damn cool. An asset to couch surfing and an all around entertaining man to be around.

Brooklyn fever. Meet Tim first in a short visit in NY, and then I surfed his couch for many a night. Really great guy with a big heart and good sense of humor!

 

Tim was kind enough to invite me to my 1st CSing party (I became hooked after that). My overall experience with him was fantastic! Fun, fun guy and got me really excited about CSing.

Tim is a very interesting person. He found a place for me in a friend's couch in NY, took me to a very interesting bar and a very nice party, and made my time in NY a lot more fun!

Tim is great! I'm new to CS2, so when I went to my first meeting I didn't know anyone, but Tim made me feel right at home. Very friendly and knows alot about how to travel smart and fearlessly!

Met Tim during the fallas festival in Valencia and got on great. Tim has the unique ability to get on with anyone and anything. And he stopped me from freezing to death which makes him a sort of super hero in my books

 

After some emails we finally met in a restaurant in Valencia with other friends... But after like half an hour I got robbed and had to go to cancel my cards and all that stuff so we didn't have time to talk more. :( But I got a very good first impression about this guy and I really hope to meet him again in New York which is not too far from Montreal... Tim rocks. We met in Mexico, went to school together in Colorado, ended up living in New York, and have had some extended adventures in Latin America... and surely there will be more to come. The guys got a million great stories and he is a model couch surfer.

Tim Tolka is a man of myth. While most take the subway from Brookyn to Manhattan, Tim simply leaps over the east river or if he's feely saucy sucks up the entire body of water in one big swallow, walks across, then releases the water back into the riverbed, the fish, barges and Jimmy Hoffa's body unharmed.

Despite what Tim wrote in his reference, I found him to be a very interesting and exciting individual (I just think Wall Street is boring). He made my first couch surfing experience an extremely pleasant one and I look forward to our next nyc meeting so we can have more scintillating conversations.

We met on CS meetings, Tim is a very enthousiastic member, with loads of funny travel and other stories.

Smart real estate broker by day and party animal by night, veteran traveller Tim Tolka is more than just a couchsurfing host, but quickly became a friend. He knows his city and made sure I had an excellent time, taking me to the hippest parties I've ever been to and introducing me to beautiful women and cool guys alike. Tim is as laid back as it gets, down to earth, cool, polite and helpful and has a ton of crazy stories to tell. Staying with him in NYC was the best possible accomodation I possibly could have gotten. Thanks Bro!

I met Superpimp in Guadalajara, listening to his stories. They were so intensely dramatic and bold I thought he was full of shit. Then I spent some time with him and realized he's the real deal. what a great guy!
