Groups I Belong ToCouch Information
Couch Available: Maybe Preferred Gender: Any
Wheelchair Accessible: Yes
Max Surfers Per Night: 2
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: DependsI have a couch, a floor and an air mattress. I rarely take on more than one surfer who don't already know each other, but if I do, then someone might be sleeping on the floor or air mattress while the other person is on the couch. Unfortunately, I temporarily live with a roommate who is not CS friendly and can't host anyone. I will be getting a place of my own in the next couple of months and will will start hosting again.
Meanwhile, I am up for hanging out and meeting new people so if you are looking for someone to pass the time with while you are here in Portland, let me know.
Keep in mind, I do work during the week and need to go to bed reasonably early(around 10-11pm). The weekends would be best but if someone needed to stay during the week that would be great. Two or 3 days at the maximum unless but open to what life may bring.
Fianlly, I have a dog who is friendly yet very timid. If you toss her toy a few times, you will shortly have a new best friend!

Personal DescriptionI am a fun person to be around with a pretty good sense of humor. I really enjoy being goofy and making people laugh.
Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, I now live in Portland for the second time in my life and loving it. Taking advantage of all that the city life has to offer as well as great outdoor activities that can only be found in a city like Portland. How I Participate in CSI am a city Ambassador and founder of the Phoenix Metro group which has grown to become a thriving CS community. I am very proud of the work I put into helping the Phoenix Metro grow and have planned and participated in many local CS events. Because of my experiences there I have made some lifelong friends!
I also participated in The War On Them project in the capacity of Executive Producer. It was a CouchSurfing related internet tv show based on CouchSurfing experiences of Bobby and Eric. You can learn about the project and see all of the episodes at www.thewaronthem.comInterestsI am a photographer and I enjoy traveling and getting out to do outdoorsy types of things like camping, hiking, skiing and scuba diving. Next on the list: sailing, kayaking, wind surfing and fly fishing.
Also, I enjoy finding interesting alternatives to the bar scene and so far I have done a good job at finding some odd but fun things to do, but then again this is Portland where you can experience any number of weird things going on in any given day. PhilosophyLife is about balance. Too much of anything is too much and I think it is important that we find balance in all areas of our lives.Music, Movies, BooksYes.. I watch movies, read books and listen to music. All three I do regularly. :)Types of People I enjoyMostly I enjoy people that have a positive outlook on life and love new experiences.Teach, Learn, ShareI am a photographer. I might be able to share what little knowledge I have of my art.One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneI have fallen asleep on the bottom of the ocean. Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectThe CS project is awesome!Locations TraveledTRAVELED: Canada, Dominican Republic, Spain, The Bahamas LIVED: United States WANTS TO GO: Ireland (Republic of), Italy IS GOING TO: Croatia References

From Marcy Weiss Hayward, United States Aug 5 Positive Even though Tom was my first surfing experience, I'm convinced he's the best! He's a super nice guy who made my time in Portland (and there abouts) a highlight of my year-long trek. And he does great window!
From Mars! Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Jul 22 Positive Tom is a friendly and fun guy and a dedicated member of the Portland CouchSurfing community. I had a great time surfing with him and Sadie. I'm very grateful for the car tour of Portland, our trip to the Farmer's Market and our great conversations!

Lots of fun to be around, he's a great conversationalist with a quick wit (bonus points for people like Tom who make me laugh at least twice a minute). He has a way of putting others at ease, and makes everyone feel welcome. Tom and I hit it off right away, and I can't wait to pick up our (good-natured) barb-trading right where we left off.

From Brent Wilson Portland, United States Sep 19, 2008 Positive Tom's fun to be around. He plays bocce and takes a lot of photographs. He buys people thoughtful gifts. I've enjoyed my conversations with him. He's enrolled in a class I teach called "Portland Brewpubs 101". He appears to be an eager student. He's an excellent driver. He's got a cool pad in the heart of the city. It's got an old-school switchboard that you have to plug the wire in to ring him up, so he can buzz you in. I consider myself lucky to have gotten buzzed in by Tom.
From Alex Hansen Portland, United States Sep 15, 2008 Positive Simply stated, Tom's great. He's got a great, fun-loving sense of humor, and is not afraid to get silly if the occasion calls for it. From Scott and Rose Horton Portland, United States Aug 30, 2008 Positive Tom is totally swell dude!
He showed up to one of our moustache parties totally ready to go and provided hours of entertainment. He even provided clothes for the needy and the bocce balls with which we ended the night in the park sometime after 1 in the morning. It has been a great friendship ever since...

It took him all of about 15 minutes to return my last-ditch email asking for a place during the Super Bowl, and, although his place was pretty full, he made it clear that I was welcome if necessary.
