About Me

ABOUT ME
I am a non religious, agnostic, open minded, spiritual empiricist. As I see things, 'God' is a name that Man has given to the mystery of life. I prefer to live with the question, not the answer. I am a Darwinist, but to me evolutionary theories and astronomy are the answer to the 'how' of our existence. The 'why' will and probably should always be a mystery

I am a positive minded person, but my journey has taught me to have faith. I don't believe in coincidence anymore, although I don't believe in destiny either. Synchronicity probably best describes it. Only those who dare to listen to their heart and act on it, will end up where they are supposed to be. That is still an act of freedom, of will power and of choice. Live the dream, anything else is a waste of time.

Between 2010 and 2013 I walked 8.000 kilometers through Europe, finding my places to sleep through social media. CS was a big help in countries where I had to set up a network from scratch. The project was called Twalk With Me. My old website is offline now, but I put up an archive of my blogs on my new website: www.casa3polopos.com.

In 2016 my wife Thysa and I decided to leave Amsterdam behind to live, work and travel in our 40 year old Mercedes van. We ended up in Spain and fell in love wth the Alpujarra. In 2019 we participated in a television show and won a house in this region. We now live between the mountains, the sea and the sky in a tiny mountain village at 800 meters above sea level. On a clear day we see the mountains of Maroco on the horizon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
For three years I was hosted by people I met on the internet. Mostly through other social media, but CS was a great help if I had trouble finding people there.

It is an amazing experience to share time with people and experience how quickly you can become friends. Friendship is not about long histories, it is about recognizing something in the other. This can be found with the first handshake. Truly amazing.
