Personal Description

I'm a 20-something busybody teaching teenagers in inner-city Indianapolis. I originally participated in Couchsurfing when I was a college student in Bloomington, IN... and now I'm living and working in Indianapolis.

I need to take more risks. I want to see the world. I want to learn things. I want to meet people... but honest and loving people. That's important.

CouchSurfing Experience

I've hosted a few people traveling the US, couchsurfed a little in the US, and couchsurfed around five times when I was in Ireland for a couple months. All experiences were great, and I have no regrets!

Interests

Photography, camping napping, eating, movies, horses, road trips, parties, the night, coffee shops, reading, music, NPR, "This American Life," dancing, laughing to the point of almost peeing my pants.

Music, Movies, Books

I like any music that makes me want to dance, or any music that makes me want close my eyes and relax.

As for books, I struggle not buying one every time I step into a bookstore. I have books piled up in my room because I don't have enough shelf space. I love them, and they are the first things I would save if my house was going up in flames (apart from my roommate and her cat =) ). Some of my favorites: The Bell Jar, Breakfast of Champions, Catcher in the Rye, Interpretor of Maladies, The Namesake, Life of Pi, The Green Mile, The Sun Also Rises. I'm also getting into poetry now, too.

I also enjoy movies, particularly ones that open my eyes to new perspectives and make me look at life differently. Some of my faves: The Shawshank Redemption, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, American Beauty, Serendipity, Love Actually, Crash, The Life of David Gale, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited (Just saw it, love it. SEE IT!)

Types of People I enjoy

Bookworms, artists, interesting conversationalists, optimists, people that dance even if they are bad at it, and anyone that can teach me something valuable or get me to try something I've never tried before.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very good at balancing things on my head, despite the fact that I am a complete klutz. I'm not sure if I'll be able to teach you that skill though; I think you just have to have a really flat head.

I want to be a writer, but my work ethic is awful, so if you know a way to fix that, let me know!

I can look over and edit your paper/story/essay if you want... it's good practice for the future-teacher part of me. I also LOVE photography... taking pictures feels like therapy. So I can do that, too!

I want to learn to cook! I love food, but can't make it very well unless I follow a strict recipe!

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done

I lived in Ireland for a couple months and it was my first time out of the country. I couchsurfed during my stay and met some amazing people, and had experiences that top everything else I've done in my life so far.

Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org Project

It is a project like this that keeps me from losing faith in the human race.

The fact that, even in a world being enveloped by fear, there are people out there still willing to welcome complete strangers into their homes on a moment's notice, shows that there is still a chance for ultimate peace, love, and understanding in our lives.

And I like that feeling.

Kelly Hannon has been one of my closest friends since we met in the Summer of 2005. We bicker like siblings sometimes and get on each other's nerves, but, when it comes down to it, we've always got each other's back. She's an amazing person, who has lots of funny experiences. She can't tell jokes, but when she tries to, it's hilarious. Kelly is always good for book recommendations, too (good for me because I love reading!).

Kelly is such a sweetheart that m really glad to have hosted a person like her as my last CSer in belfast.She is very very friendly, a fantastic dancer and amazing person. She always has a smile on and makes everyone smile. We went sightseeing and watched movie together and took lots of pictures. Neone having a chance of meeting/hosting her.....should never miss tht. Kelly was an amazing host! It was my first Couchsurfing experience and it was more than me and my girlfriend had ever expected. I never felt like a stranger...she made us feel right at home. She is so chill, so adventurous and so down-to-earth. She gave us a tour around town and then we went art gallery hopping. She was very passionate about traveling. I would totally like to stay at her place again!
