Personal DescriptionI like the color purple (not the movie, the actual color), I find myself always attracted by it... I don't drink coffee, except the occasional espresso and I very much dislike cheese. yes I am really dutch! Typically dutch I should say: blond hair, blue eyes and pretty straight forward, or honest or clear, or whatever you'd like to call it :)
I studied Industrial Design Engineering a fancy description for product design. I started working with a large electronical company of which I won't mention the name here in the 'strategic futures' department, so I know what the future will be like ;)
[answer: the same as today only more of it...]
Because of all the office politics I got really fed up with it and found a new job. I traveled a lot for business in Europe the past 2 years, which was a new way of exploring cities. I moved on to more local (more meaningful) work now...
To balance out work I started sewing classes, because I can never find what I'm looking for :)
And I teach dutch once a week to a turkish woman, which is a great way to see your own culture through the eyes of someone else... not always something to be proud of...
I started collecting Little prince books (you know: le petit prince who travels through the universe to earth) in different languages, bring me one and you'll be my long life friend (of course I'll pay for it!)How I Participate in CSI joined the Alaska collective for just a week a few years ago which was a great experience. CouchSurfing ExperienceCouchsurfing is actually something I've been doing all my life, but just didn't know that it had a name! I've stayed with friends in Canada a few times in the past 10 years, but started in moscow and St Petersburg at age 14 - we played softball there.
In return my parents, and later on me and my housemates, hosted canadians, americans, french and russians and well.
Unfortunately, Breda is not the most popular place in Holland so not many cs-ers are passing by...
As a host I like to BE a host to people: have personal contact, eat together, talk and have fun together. Even though I'm busy with work, I'll do my best to make time to get to know each other.Interestslots of things... traveling (of course), photography, music.. shopping (hehe)...
Since we visited Thailand for the first time in 2008 we eat thai food at least once a week.... I have been back last year and I really want to go again!
I enjoy going to 30s-40s-50s parties, all dressed up and with matching music :)Philosophydo something that scares you... every day!Music, Movies, Booksanything from french literature to the cosmopolitan. Music from folk to rock and lounge... Types of People I enjoythe open minded ones, who tend to meet weird/funny people and usually end up in bizarre situations!Teach, Learn, Sharethe future, designing stuff, being creative :)One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Donewaking up in a tent in Alaska by the sound of a little river, underneath 3 blankets, feeling so refreshed and alive!Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectI love the concept, met many nice people and hope I'll use it more often!Locations TraveledTRAVELED: Aruba, Austria, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland (Republic of), Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands Antilles, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Thailand, United States LIVED: Canada WANTS TO GO: Brazil, Russia IS GOING TO: Finland
What do these numbers mean?
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you. References (22)22Positive 0Neutral 0Negative

From Noelia Caro Amsterdam, Netherlands Jul 9, 2009 Positive As I am now living in Breda, I decided to contact Wendy to meet some locals and get more into the Dutch lifestyle. Wendy has been a great surprise, we went to the movies (Coco avant Chanel) and enjoyed some tea and poffertjes (Dutch mini pancakes) and a good conversation. Definitely a person to meet more often in the future: interesting and felt like I knew her long. Nice to meet you Wendy!
From Camtastic San Francisco, United States Feb 17, 2009 Positive Wendy is brilliant! It's was great collaborating with her at the Alaska Collective. She brought a lot of clarity and drive to the project we were working on. Thanks Wendy!!
From Weston Hankins Guadalajara, Mexico Nov 18, 2008 Positive When Wendy was in Alaska, the sun was shining and the world was bright. I can't really wait to see her again!
From Caitlin Bergin Anchorage, United States Jul 25, 2008 Positive Wendy was stuck in Anchorage without a host and I was happy to help. She was very considerate and a great surfer!

From rachel San Francisco, United States Jul 8, 2008 Positive Wendy has this lovely calm inquisitiveness, the kind that makes you feel welcome to be around her. She's a wonderful presence to visit or have in your home.
