Avant sa grande canalisation dans le cadre du "plan Becquey", la Mayenne était équipée, comme le Loir et la Sarthe, de pertuis à chaque barrage de moulin; La canalisation par barrages éclusés a permis une meilleure gestion de l'eau, et notamment la cessation des conflits entre mariniers et meuniers. Elle a permis aussi l'augmentation du tonnage des bateaux, et l'évolution de leurs formes;
La Mayenne est aujourd'hui une rivière très fréquentée par la plaisance.

Allesandro is a great guy, I hosted him and my boyfriend for 3 days and we have alot fun together. He is also a great person for have a talk, he has been to so many places and have alot to tell.

I stayed at Alessandro's place at a time i was considering to cancel my CS membership due to some bad experiences... But a great, intelligent guy, nice friends, sweet sweet family and the cutest lab puppy ever changed my mind.... And this is enough to say about him... And one more thing about him: He will go to heaven for a couple of reasons:) so if you want to see someone who has a place reserved in heaven you should meet him....

 

I had so much fun with him, mixed with murder instinct though :-)) He is such an ironical guy... and I am such an irritable person! Crazy the way he eats sauerkrauts! I think I don't know him... I have the impression he is hiding something....... such as.... maybe it was him "reproducing" all that sauerkraut mit Senfsoße he ate!!! :-P (joking)

Alessandro was so kind to organise a dinner for Maria and me at his home. The company and the atmosphere he offered us was just cool! Was such a nice evening! In my mind Torino will always be associated with this guy and with hours we spent at his place. Thanks a lot, Alesso, I owe you some sweets!

Alessandro is very generous when it comes to hosting, he said: "come whenever you want", and i believe him.
I am very happy, i could stay as at his appartment.

I loved staying with Alessandro. He loves joking about Germans, but you could notice that he really cared. He invited some of his friends to have fun with us for the first evening and prepared a great dinner (I have literally fallen in love with pasta with pesto!).
And I enjoyed a lot to talk also about some more serious topics and getting to know him better while eating croissants with nutella. Thanks a lot for that ;-)

I enjoyed living in Alessandro's guest room for a whole week. I came to Torino to study here for a year with Erasmus and came without having a place to sleep, without knowing anyone and without knowing how to pronounce "quindi" in an real Italian manner. Alessandro could help me with all that :)
His place is very comfortable, he is very nice and funny and he took me to several CS meetings, where I could meet people and have delicious Italian food.

Ale was a wonderful host!

Before I went to Turin I was already in contact with Alessandro. When I arrived we met in a bar and he and his nice girlfriend Sarah brought me to an amazing Brazilian party. After that we met many times at CS meetings. Alessandro tries to participate in those meetings as much as he can and when he is around, fun is guaranteed. He laughs at everything! He found my brazilian accent funny and then he made some funny jokes about it - it was all good! He opened his beautiful house in Asti for all CS group and made a big bonfire. It was very nice and I had a lot of fun in Turin, thanks to this guy and the CS group there.

Alessandro was very gentile to recieve me at his place, even though he had to work that night. We see each other ver little beacause of this, but he invited me for breakfast at the morning. We had a ver nice conversation, and then took me to the train station. Thank you Allesandro!

alexanderrrr! is very polite and functional in his way to host people. i liked it very much to have contact to a professional surfer. he behaves on personal requests: present or absent - as you prefer. i felt very comfortable on the parents couch in the main salon. thank you and feel welcome to berlin, lecce or wherever i am. but: how does sting fit with me?

Alessandro have been my first experience as Couch surfing host,and I have to say that I was really impressed about it!really nice.
we were arriving a bit later than we thought and he organized everything to receive us the best way.He made us feel very welcome at his house from the beginning.

Alessandro is one of the most generous persons I ever met! Even when already 8 (!) persons asked for hosting on the date I occurred, he still got a couch for me! I met him in Torino because he hosted me and a frind of mine and he and his grirfrind were very kind and friendly with us.

Alessandro epitomizes the essence of couchsurfing. He amazed me by taking in up to 8 people in one night and despite having a full house, he remained eager to embrace the experience as an opportunity to meet more people and share his home and city to strangers. I enjoyed sleeping in a room full of an interesting clash of cultures, from kill bill on the shelf, to medical posters adorning the walls, his home was inviting but at the same time very unique. Furthermore, I loved taking the time to have lunch with Alessandro and a fellow couch surfer at his home, really simply enjoying each other's company, sarcastic humor and love for good food. I would reccommend anyone staying with Alessandro to trust his judgment and to take the time to have an interesting conversation with him and not just have a cursory, superficial meeting. I hope Alessandro will visit me in DC and that I will be able to give him as good of an experience as the one i had in Torino.

It wasn't love at first sight but after less than 24 hrs I found myself proposing to this somewhat mad/serious/lecturing/funny italian guy. We had a lot of fun making fun of the germans and walking loads in Turin. He is a very easy host. Grazie Alessandro. Nos vemos pronto!!!

Alessandro is the most funny guy in Italy and the most crazy doctor in the world!! I really had a great time with him in Torino, he could offer you unlimited fun! He is so generous and nice to us, although he was busy in work, he try to give all his spare time to us. Trust me, that will be a big lost in your life if you don't meet him in Torino.

I went to Torino for the Traffic Festival, but besides the great festival and beautiful city, I met several really great persons: Alessandro and some of other people that were surfing his couches at the same time as me :) Alessandro showed us the real Italian life-style. At my first experience in couchsurfing i have to say that i had one of my best experiences ever!!! he is unique! the best perfect couchsurferrr! A super person in all senses...very fun..very positive..he is very open...we talk a lot deep conversations... its a person thats gives you good positive energy...good advises and you can trust at first moment. I am sure i will see him again...i hope so!!! i was very very lucky to meet him.

Alessandro and his friend were great and understanding guests. Unfortunately I wasn't able to dedicate enough time to him and all I could offer him was a night out partying and a night in sleeping. My sister, her friend and I had our first couchsurfing experience with Alessandro and we couldn't have wished to have a better host! First, he served us Nutella on a bread without crust, so he obviously got my on his side ;) and he made us feel like home right at the beggining. He even took time to show us the countryside and the vineyards, we had a great time tasting the best wines in the middle of the afternoon!

One of the most laid-back, cool and trustful guy I have ever met! He has hosted so many ppl through the years that now it seems like he knows exactly what he's doing: he's kind of a professional couchsurfing host! He's fun to be with and generous, he even took us to the couuntryside where we tasted wine, and introduced us to his charming 89 year old grandmother. We ate lots of Nutella, drank lots of wine and had lots of fun - thank you Alessandro !

Alessandro entertained the hell out of my friend Jamie and I naturally.. One of my best couchsurfing experiences in Italy!!! and I have couchsurfed a lot in Italy... It was like having a "slumber party" at your best friend's house. I hope also to meet him in Argentina.. or was it Brazil? Oh shit! Let's get our stories straight! :))

He was one an excellent host. Fun and funny and great to talk to talk to. He showed us around Turin, met his friends and ate wonderful food. He was a doll. I would suggest anyone to stay with him.

It has been a great delight discovering Torino with a host like Alessandro. Even if it was during the week, he took the time to show us around, come along with us to taste the delicious food of Piemonte and give hints to what to do& where to go. He's also one of the few people standing at my kind of humour. Was a great pleasure meeting you and now I'm waiting for your visit in Bozen!

Despite arriving at a busy time for Alessandro, he managed to accommodate both myself and another traveller, which could have only been made more difficult by the fact that we both spoke different languages. He's an interesting person to talk to and an expert host, and I'm grateful for the his hospitality in Turin.

 

Alessandro is a very interesting person: he's a really fun gay, brave traveller, great host and rallies driver! He hosted me for four days in Torino. Even though he works a lot, he found some time to share with me and show me around the city. Another day we visited Barbaresco, he introduced me his friends and we drank delicious wine. I had a really good time in Torino with Alessandro, his friends and his parents. Thank you and you are most than welcome in Lleida!

Alessandro was very freindly and helpful, since he was working at night time we had a 1st short meeting than we met next day for a coffee + chocolate + gofra (wonder what's gofra? Go to Turin) and enjoyed our time together. We hope he can surf our coach soon.

We stayed with Alessandro for the last night of our week long trip.
At home when I sit down for my Sunday roast dinner I always save the delicious succulent roast lamb until the end because, of course, it's the best part and it means I finish the meal with a happy feeling and the desire for more. Alessandro you were the roast lamb (or maybe goat or sheep I'm not sure!) at the end of our trip.

We only spent 1 night at his flat. But he and his friends were very kind and welcoming. They cooked delicious pasta and daiquiri. I really enjoyed the talks & jokes ;)

 

I was hosted by Alessandro with my friend for one night . We arrived late but he has waiting for us for the dinner. We shared a very pleasant moment with him and his friends.We also take a look at his beautiful pictures of Japan. Alessandro has a real sense of welcome and also of humour... Alessandro was a great guest and even better person. I enjoyed hearing about his travels to other countries such as India and just generally getting to know him as a person. Alessandro makes everybody laugh with his incredible, Italian sense of humour. (That's why he's certainly a fantastic doctor, too). We met randomly three (!) times while travelling in Japan, discovered together Tokyo nights, Buddhist temples and great food in Nikko. We should definitely meet any time soon in Turin or Berlin!

Not afraid to explore, Alessandro even introduced us to new things to see and do in Tokyo, that we didn't know about after five years of living here! What an incredible week!!!

even if I was upset by searching a job, Alessandro and Matt try to teach me how to manage my feelings.It was very hard to be host near christmas day, and Alessandro was so helpfull.
I m not ready to forget Alessandro, so suprising man, could be from crasy to wise. he show us very nice places for wine.Outgoing man, he drives us into many party and introduce his friends to us. He drives like Mario kart,So, if he offer you to drive somewhere, explain him that you ld prefer the Bus.

This man is just "awesome".I ll stay in Torino, cause of this sort of men....

Alessandro=simply the man. I got lucky that he had the time and space, because staying with my long lost brother was truly fun. He is so outgoing, so friendly, he can really take a good trip and make it great. His long amazing reputation is way deserved.

 

I trust 1st impressions. That's why in the 1st pic we took I m punching him. It took me less than 30 mins to realize how weird he was. In the next 30 mins I got scared:I saw that my male mirror was there sitting next to me. I also tried to find him worse features to tell the world that there was someone more crazy and moody than me. Well then I failed. And I failed more when I thought I could stay away from him.
With the excuse of the Festival he trapped me in one of the best week end where I proudly met his best entourage, had an absourd quantity of good food even got to face his high school classmates.
He took the most awesome care of me.
We share 2.000 common interest and I love him cos he's real.Very intense (he would never settle for only one of ur ear) and always with thousands of thoughts and words. Won't stay too long away from Turin, but as a revenge for this addiction he also got one: my last fav tv drama!

My God, this guy sounds like he comes out directly from an Italian movie or a book from Rabelais. Full of life, extra-ordinary and joyful. I'll definitely come to say hello and bring you some Leffe next time we are in Torino.

 

As far as I could see, I realized Alessandro must be a friendly, open-handed person, full of interests and knowledges. Unfortunately we didn't spend much time together (due to my late confirming), but I did enjoy his big couch, his family's kindness and the great suggestions about where to go in the city (many many thanks about "Eataly"! what a delightful discovery!! and of course the Mole's Cinema Museum too, so breathtaking!!)

Had a drink in a funny bar in Genova. Very very smart guy with plenty of interesting facts. Thought about changing our whole trip to try and surf with him.

Politically correctness: what does it mean? Surely not Ale! He is a very clever, smart boy, with a caustic sense of humor: for sure you don't risk to fall asleep while talking to him! I spent with him a very stimulating time.

He is a very crazy man and very funny too but the serbian woman dont understand his humor hehehe

 

Originally, I was invited to stay for one night, but Winger was kind enough to extend the invitation for the other two nights of the tango festival. I was able to meet some of his friends, and eat an extremely good pizza!

 

Dr. Winger is the host with the most in Turin. Generous, charismatic, friendly, fun, all this and more. Him and his extremely tolerant family and friends took us in and provided an Italian experience that we will never forget. Sitting at the kitchen table at midnight eating, drinking and listening to Italian! The couchsurfing experience of the year. Thank you Alessandro!

Mr. C. is an amazing and nice guy, with a lot of experiences to tell and with a great CD's collection (I didn't see it but he mentions it at least one time every 2 hours!eheheh). We had no much time to spend together, but I've made a mistake with the metro stop and so we spent 2 hours in the subway and we had a long long great chat! :D -But Flapic wanted to kill us!!-

Dr. Winger..... Well, he is so much more than I expected. I expected very nice, but Alessandro was a perfect gentleman who brought such warm energy (and his lovely girlfriend, Sara) to my home. He is very curious about everything under the sun! WE had such a wonderful time getting to know each other more. He also gifted me with some wonderful and yummy presents. I wish they could have stayed a week so I could share more with them. Just plain fabulous guests!

 

I wasn't able to host Alessandro and his girlfriend when they were in Portland, but we did get to hang out and they were great company and very generous. Hopefully we'll be able to meet again some time.

I hosted this fine lad and his lady, Sarah, on their west coast road trip. I was pleased to find out that Allesandro also loves to devour a mountains of sushi for dinner. While here, he bought the coolest shoes I've ever seen and brought awesome Italian-ness to Portland. Excellent guy for social events, conversation, and as a guest. I hope to visit him in his native habitat where he handles organs just before spaghetti and grappa. Chin Chin!!

Alessandro and his girlfriend Sara made lovely guests. We had an awesome sushi dinner... to the point that we were even too full to go out despite Alessandros never ending energy! We enjoyed exchanging travel stories and learning about his town in Italy. It was also fun to get a taste of Italian driving while in the good ol' USA.

 

Alessandro was an excellent guest to have. He was very easy going and easy to hang out with. We had a couple of beers together and talked about traveling and he shared his impressions of California with me. I was able to ask him about his experiences with Couch Surfing and I found it very informative. I hope to see Alessandro again sometime, somewhere. Host him and you will have a good time!

 

A Prince, Gentleman and CS Etiquette Nazi!! Although most might believe that calling someone a nazi is a negative thing, I can definitely assure you that it is not! Alessandro defines couchsurfer and both he and Sara were the epitome of perfect houseguests!! From a splendid dinner and introduction to friends, exploration invitations, relaxed attitudes, broad smiles and excellent taste in music, they left every situation better for their involvement. I only hope that I was HALF the host that they were Guests! If you get the chance to meet these fine folks, jump at it!! I surely hope to run into them again in the future and wish them nothing but the best in everything.

Alessandro is the ringleader of the impressively close-knit CS community in Turin. We met while I was surfing with Stefano Villa and Ale dropped by with a few friends, a couple of CSers he was hosting, his wicked sense of humour, and limitless knowledge of Japanese cuisine and where to find it in Turin. Alessandro is upfront and not afraid to speak his mind, he is a funny guy and is very passionate about CSing and giving the people he meets in Turin a great experience in his city.

Alessandro was a fantastic host, very welcoming and kind. He is a witty and funny person. Made me smile and laugh many times. Has a wonderfully hospitable spirit. Great host!

I had a really great time with Alessandro in Torino. He has LOADS of energy and his jokes are very funny! He gives a good balance of advice but also allows his surfers freedom to do their own thing which is great! Grazie per tutti!! PS If you are in Torino you have to go to the Museum of Film - it is the best museum I have ever been to..

The word "positive" doesn't begin to describe my experience hosting the famous Dr. Winger, a.k.a, Alessandro and his lovely girlfriend Sarah.

After a LONG flight, I assumed that my dear guests would be wiped out -- my assumptions were wrong. Within a matter of seconds, Ale announced, "Patrizia, let's go out to that sushi place" and off we went (the man has an abundant supply of energy!). I couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience for Alessandro and Sarah ... not only was the sushi fabulous (really fresh), but George Clooney (and later Sasha Baron-Cohen) was seated at the table directly in front of us (ahhh, the view was amazing!)! Alessandro (and the lovely Sarah)is a burst of positive energy that will leave you feeling happy, revived and NOT wanting the visit to end. The most generous and considerate guest(s) ...... a host's dream come true!

Alessandro, you and Sarah will ALWAYS have a place to call home whenever you are in Los Angeles.

Alessandro and Sara surfed my couch for one night and my only regret is they couldn't stay longer. He is a funny guy, and very friendly, maybe just a little wild and crazy, and definitely someone you want to hang out with.

 

I had the widest variety of food with this man and friends. From pasta at home to aperativo in the park, then sushi in the rain and finally lunch in the country with the parents who were the sweetest hosts of all!!

Alessandro is a good guy whith wicked sence of humor. He also makes a mean pasta that put me to sleep one evening. Never happened before...

Hope to meet you somwhere sometime, maybe I'll treat you the beer next time.

 

Alessandro & Sara stayed with me for 2 nights and I regret they didnt stay longer. We went out for a drink the first night but did really had the chance to hang out much afterwards. I was working and had a cold. Both are social, interesting, generous people. I felt very comfortable with them and for me it is always special to host people who are all dedicated to Couchsurfing! Alessandro is a very interesting, funny, energetic dude. He showed us the finer side of the northern Italian cuisine, it was awesome! And I was never ever bored during car rides ;-)

 

Alessandro hosted me and Rolando for two nights. It was fun driving around looking for open places to have dinner when it was late and had Ferre d'agosto on top of that. Thanks to him I know the difference between pizza and focaccia and tried the delicious San Simone. He is really helpful as well as Zara, without her help we would've wasted a lot of time tryingin to figure out how to get to the city. Thanks for everything! it was a pleasure to surf your couch!

 

This guy now only saved my life while i was homeless in torino, but went further by inviting me to have an out of mind crazy dinner with a bunch of awsome italians. Real italian wine, real italian pasta and other stuff, real italian girls. man that was great! thank u for everything. btw, did i mention he´s a doctor! we need more of u here in cs! lol

Alessandro is a helpful, wonderful host! He very kindly let me crash at his with hardly any notice and made a really big effort introducing me to his life, friends and the way things are done in Torino. I'm a bit of a space cadet at the best of times and he made sure I didn't end up lost and wandering around forlornly. We went to a pasta festival and was shown around the city complete with guided tour in many languages. Thanks for a good surf and all your help and time x :)

Well, I only have gratefulness words to Alessandro. I think that he is a very carismathic person (I think like his father), very patient guy (I mean with the loco in the bar, and maybe with me too!!). I must say sorry for not share the gym (I prefer to share the birra!). And a extra thanks to his girlfriend Sara (very nice girl, I think that fix perfect with Alessandro!), of course to the "Big familia" (father, mother (very patient too with my spaninglishtaliano) and grandma), and of course his friend Silvio (revolutionary guy!) that host me in his Home (where I'm writing this lines!)...

The good doctor hosted me for two nights and for two nights he kept me as his own. This was the very first time i couch surfed and it was definitely a very positive experience--and one of my best times in Italy. I got lucky finding Alessandro, he taught me a lot about CS and forgave many of my silly --allbeit endearing-- antics. This guy is a great host with personality to boot. Thanks for an awesome stay in Turino Alessandro, i really did spend my last few nights in Italy having an awesome time!

Alessandro was host of mine & my friend Hanna in Torino. We couldn't spend a lot of time togheter coz he's really hard-working & involved with CS, but possibility of stay in his flat was an amazing experience. I met there another CSers from whole Europe;) I think that he is really great person, funny & a little crazy but responsibile & trustworthy. And yes, it's a pity that we couldn't spent more time in Torino.

First of all i have to thank Alessandro for making me realize the importance of a proper profile on CS. For opening his heart and door to two "nuts" and for beeing an amazing host with wonderful friends whose company we enjoyed a great deal. There is simply no point in describing Aless, you have to meet him in person then you'll know for sure what we mean. Alessandro has hosted me and my friend for one night in his nice flat in Torino. It was short time there but for sure very interesting experience with big CS family where you can meet many interesting guys! :) Alessandro was very good host for all of us. He invited me and my friend for an evening outside the city but we could not go there... :/ Alessandro and his girlfriend are helpful people, with Mirtillina I ve talked about my doubts connected with one CS user. She said me how to solve my problem. Thanks for help & very nice time! Hope we will keep a contact.

 

Dr. Winger (Alessandro) is a wonderful guy!!! I had an incredible experience staying with him in Torino and wished I could have visited with him longer. He was extremely friendly and very helpful... Dr. Winger is also a lot of fun... it was so fun doubling him on his bike... I was laughing so hard that I almost couldn't peddle. This CS experience will be hard to beat! Litle misunderstanding on my arrive date,he said me that he wasn't on Turino so i said him : "i'm sure to give you the good date ! he was our first couchsurfing host and was amazing; super accomodating, funny, and knowledgable about turin. he offered to let us stay another night without us even having to ask, which of course we accepted. his girlfriend and friends were also extremely welcoming; all were just very cool, entertaining people.

If you have health problems, or you need somebody that prepare a great pizza, Alessandro is always the right person! Really difficult to find somebody (a man,in particular!!!) able to do so different things in the same moment. Alex see you next meeting, I will perform also with jam!

Alessandro did his best to make my first CS experience as a guest really memorable. He is very active, always on the move (when he is not playing videogames, an activity he takes very seriously :P): he will involve you in all that he does and introduce his many CS friends to you. I particularly appreciated the “fritto misto” night: we got a plate full of all sorts of fried food, including vegetables, meat, brain and even an “amaretto” biscuit… a wonderful and unforgettable gourmet experience!!!

Ale is a person who is very interesting to be around. There's always something going on when he's there. There's always some pun to be made, some joke to be cracked. I cannot express enough how helpful he was during my stay, and I am very grateful. People like him make the world a much more colorful place to live in.

I hosted him in Milano some months ago while i was in Bratislava. THAT'S MEAN:
1) he is really trustworthy
2) I am really crazy to leave him my home's keys

Then i met Alex in some meetings in Milano and i can say that i really like him. He is really helpfull with all people and it is really interesting to chat with him not only about CS.

Alessandro was extremely generous & a great host! Eating dinner with him and other fellow couch surfers from the area around Turin, Italy was definitely an experience!! Very knowledgeable, funny and entertaining guy! I definitely appreciated his hospitality and look forward to hopefully one day seeing him again!

First you come to know he’s a physician, and somehow he doesn’t fit into picture. Then you read he’s a gastroenterologist and an endoscopist, and for some twisted reason, you believe that. Even if you don’t know what that means; something with both a dark and a sunny side. A metamorphosic profession, probably. Interesting person and very good company.

We've met in Rovinj on the meeting by Vayu G. He's an interesting person and wish next time to talk some more with him.

Alessandro totally saved us (me and a friend) in Torino. Naive ase we were trying to find a host on the 1st of May he generously showed us the city, his hometown and gave as a amazing place to sleep. On top of all he gave us a ride to Alessandria to help us on our way. Alessandro, thank you so much for hosting us!

 

We met in Milano during BCN counter-invasion and we shared some awesome moments, like late night clubbing, pic-nic at the park and final aperitivo. Alessandro took us in last minute when our previous plans crashed! He was very sweet and entertained us with stories while he painted is kitchen.

First we met in Massimo's place for Pasquetta then recently after Taormina's NYE party I hosted in my place in Palermo.

UPDATE: just happen all I wrote before, I met Alessandro again in Sicily, for a big meeting party (NYE) and I hosted him in Palermo!!! ci siamo conosciuti al meeting di paganello, ospiti nella casa-fattoria di elisa...hahahaha in san marino, è stato davvero bello perchè eravamo ben 5 surfers sotto lo stesso tetto, quindi vi è stata una mescolanza di racconti di viaggi ed esperienze di vita molto particolare...ah, ovviamente se avete bisogno di un compagno di video giochi ale è la persona giusta!!!!! tutto il giorno a giocare a "gals panic!" video gioco da sala giochi anni 80 che si trovava nel soggiorno della casa di elisa (con vite infinite hahaha!)
poi ale mi ha spiegato(grazie) quali sono i ruoli dell'ambasciatore e l'essenza del progetto cs: ho avuto un maestro attento e disponibile. disponibile soprattutto coi 2 miei amici non cs i quali erano,sono e saranno molto scettici su questo modo di condividere la vita con gli altri.

Alessandro was a great host. We joined the "Pizza Meeting" in Torino and had dinner in an old Trainstation. He even drove us to the meeting point at 5am the next morning :) He's funny, spontaneous and very down-to-earth. Stay with him if you are in Torino!

We were in france with a friend and we decided at 11AM to drive to somewhere and it happened to be italy! We arrived late at night in torino, and after diferents adentures, we met Alessandro our saver for 2 nights and we've been received greatly! Dear ale, thanks again for everything -couch-dinner-visit-conversations- liguria was great also! Take care!

 

I met "il doctore" for one evening in Torino. Man, he is great to be around. Too bad we did not have more time to share more interesting conversations. I also love his sense of humour. I hope he'll come to Parigi one day!

I went to Turin for a short weekend but it was very intense and i came back happy. I wanted to meet Alessandro and i wasn't disappointed, i would like to see him and his so welcoming friends in my city,perhaps we'll be friends for a long time.

 

Alessandro is an interesting person. A doctor who is also attracted by "non conventional medicine" and oriental practises. Good openminded guy. Had some conversation with him, but I hope to go deep further with a new chance. We aren't so far too to meet again!

The doctor, but for us,table companions at "sushi all'osteria", Alessandro is the teacher of sushi or also Mr Koinouchi! :)
And maybe during the sushi lunch it was born a love!!! but this is no business of mine ;)

I had the pleasure of meeting Alessandro at a huge CS aperitivo in Milan. Maybe he was so bored in his little mountain hut and needed a great CS night. He chose the right city when visiting us!

I heard much about him - good and bad .. lol. He has quite a witty sense of humour and is much fun to be around.

I will update my reference soon when I will meet him again!! And that time I will also have some Speck for you!!

I confused his name with Alessandro Cabella :( but I recognized his face (now more 'Skardi' of Pitura Freska,in London,much more student of Oxford)..

Dr winger is a nice guy with a great passion for CS project. I had the occasion to meet him many times during official and un-official CS meeting.
He encouraged me to involve more and more in CS until I finally hosted my first guest. I really thanks Alessandro for this great experience... and it's just the beginning.

a character. one of those who makes you think. a playful pest. how does this man have so much time for people? not scared to tell a relative stranger they are being a dick. which is good. especially if you have at times dickish tendences

Alessandro is an interesting chap with a very good level of English. He is well-travelled, interesting and he has a very good sense of humour. The food and hospitality that we enjoyed were great, even if we ran him out of tea bags. Just don't even think about eating in the back of his car!

Alessandro rescued me from a night of sleeping on the street and I ended up staying at his place, off and on, for over a week. We both experienced a very unique CS experience that included a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding, which we worked out over time. I was fortunate to have met his family, whom I adore enormously and who took me in as if I were their own. I'm especially grateful to Alessandro for trying to diagnose me medically and for letting me come and go in his home. I wish we had better opportunities to get to know each other because I feel that Alessandro is a very caring and kind soul. Let me know when you come to the states!

I already knew Alessandro "virtually" for ages since we joined CS :D but we didn't manage to meet until June 2007! The good feeling about him I had when chatting was confirmed when he came in Padova, we met face to face and
I hosted him in the middle of an exam session :D. But, indeed, it was a well-worth spent time and it was nice having pizzas, walks in town, icecreams, aperitives, Mestre (that usually I don't like too much), and especially all the different and interesting conversations we had...Alessandro is a truly smart person, talkative and with a *huge* and sometimes cinic (maybe because he's a doctor? :D) sense of humour that you will like :) (well, at least, I liked!)
We have been also "colleagues" as Country Ambassadors, so we discussed and we still discuss online about different CS topic and issues. For sure Ale has a natural CS spirit inside, being very sharing with everyone!
I'm waiting to meet him again soon, in the while, don't hesistate to visit him ;): as a perfect guest I'm sure he is a perfect host too! :)

Alessandro was a great guy to meet. He has great sense of humor and some really interesting points of view. A missed conversation with him is a missed opertunity to laugh, learn something about Italy, and have a good time in general!

Alessandro has a good sense of humor and a "light but deep" attitude towards life! I had a nice dinner with him and other CS and a night tour in the countryside around Torino.

Alessandro is really funny and you can tell is a very genuine person. He's what Americans think Italians are supposed to be like - extremely open and proud of where they live and they want to show why Italia is great! My only regret is that we only spent a few hours hanging out.

well thats quite a lot what ale has written about me but sure for all the good reasons almost all the adjectives he used for me also apply to him and a bit more so, cool, friendly, outgoing, expressive, helpful and concerned...well a person worth meeting......

I met Alessandro at an unofficial CS gathering in Torino over Christmas. He is very friendly and nice to be around, and awesome to talk to. A few days later, under some stressful and difficult circumstances, he extended his hand to help me out. It was great spending New Year's with you. Thanks Alessandro, and keep an eye out for the next Meatloaf album!

He is one of the locomotive member of Couch surfing Group in Torino. I am sure you will absoluetly not get bored while talking with him! And since he is one of the best doc. in Torino you can consult him if you get sick on travel !!:)))

Alessandro picked me up from the train station holding a sign with my name printed on it! It was so cool, it made me feel like a VIP :) Alessandro's family is super friendly and really make you feel at home. I was introduced to some of his other friends that are couchsurfers and I had the pleasure of debating what is and isn't coffee.

I had beautiful and active 2days with Alessandro: the best pizza in the whole Piemonte, the most POSH;)disco which was fun, a birthday party,a few motor riding he made me experience Torino and it's people- so cheerful people.

Don't let the quick, sarcastic sense of humor fool you, Alessandro is also very pensive and deeply intellectual. He was kind enough to take me in on short notice. I was sorry to only be able to stay one night with him.

I had the pleasure to meet Alessandro on the occasion of my debut CS meeting. He's an extremely positive, witty biker whom I believe I share a very similar vision of life and humor within. I feel like we've known each other for a long time and I definitely look forward to wrap up a solid friendship!

 

It's very difficult for me to write a reference for Ale; we've been knowing each others for more than 13 years, since when we were in the middle of the high school. Since that moment we grew up together, sharing an enormous amount and variety of experiences, being witnesses or active parts of the other's events of life, inner and external, and deep confidents to receive emotions and thoughts. We have been a constant part of the other's life, daily, for all this time. And it's still like that. So if you come to visit me or him, it will be very strange you'll miss the other. We are very different, even tough we understand perfectly each other and sometimes we share the same feelings, in particular the very deep ones, to those we react in a different way. We both, in very different manners, were considered and probably are, difficult characters to relate with. But still the strength of what runs between us keep us together. Sometimes, not so rarely, you'll see us discussing, having very different opinions about some topics; in some cases you'll see us even querreling. Don't worry, we've always been working like that and it worked very well.
So now a list of some of his good qualities and skills:
-he's very practical, so if you got a practical problem to solve, mechanical, burocratical, informatical, of logistics, and so on, you can lean on him.
-if you want to laugh, he's the one; he can be very subtle and witty or on the opposite very raw and you'll here him laughing three rooms far. Sometimes this can create some tension in particular in people who don't know him, not expecting and not being used to this. So be prepared. If you take it in the proper way, meeting him could be an amazing experience....
-music is one of his over-all interests, and he has a very fine knowledge about many artists and their music, lyrics, histories, ideas and particularities. He has one of the largest CD collection I ever seen with many rarities and his room is covered by images and stuff connected with this. So if you want to listen to very good music his home is the place.
-I could add many other things but I think it would be unproper for this kind of reference which is even too long, so let me add only a warning. Ale learnt how to modulate, in particular with new guests. But he's still very impulsive and sometimes what he considers soft it's very strong for other people. So don't judge a book by its cover....stay and you'll see the natural beauty of rough stones like we are.

 

Alessandro overcame our initial failed meetup plans and GPS adventures to spend a night with me and other Torino friends in Boston. This country ambassador is friendly, flexible, funny, and totally crazy about used record stores. I wouldn't hesitate to host him again.

I was very well received in Punta Chiappa by Alessandro and his girlfriend, he was a great organizer, one of my funniest day in Italy ... thanks for the hospitality.

 

I had a wonderful time meeting and spending an afternoon with Alessandro in Torino. He gave a quick tour of Torino city center and then some coffee at a nice cafe. It was very pleasant meeting him and getting to know him.

 

Alessandro was a nice host. It was nice because we got to meet most of the Torino CS group too. Too bad we didn't get to eat sushis. I hope you saw our note, Alessandro, and sorry for having to leave so early but we had to catch the train. I hope everything goes well with your shelves.

Alessandro hosted me for two nights letting me to take part in some Torino's group gatherings. Thanks to Alessandro, i have improved my skills in mounting book (CD)shelfs :) Moreover Alessandro is very good in parking a car in a garage (at 5 in the morning) :D Beside all this He was a good host and a good company. I will visit him again next time I will go to Torino.

It is never quiet! And perhaps this is easy to know and understand that this is a person open, available and friendly. Always ready to discuss any topic, it is also pleasing because very intelligent. Finally, he is better than Doctor House! ;-)

 

Alessandro kept us going from place to place with funny conversation and an interesting attitude, even though he was really tired from traveling and traveling...

While you think Alessandro is trying hard not to be serious about anything, he is organizing you a perfect stay in Turin. You can really have a good time with him if you are a couchsurfer: he is one of the italian reincarnations of CS.

 

Had the chance to meet Alessandro while he was visiting Quebec City. He is very positive and loves to be sarcastic. He makes a great pizza, even if getting all the ingredients needed is a challenge ! Hopefully I will have the pleasure to meet him again in Italy (or maybe at a Meatloaf concert ?) La possima volta, dobiamo parlare solo italiano !

 

Alessandro is a phenomenon in himself ! Take us a little time of adaptation to better know eachother, but after that it was just great time !! We went in bike all around, cook together (sorry for my mistakes !!), party together, hike in the top of a mountain with 100km/h wind, visit Qc city by night, assist at a poutine contest, have a drink with friends... Enjoy italian parking, italian stop, italian red light, italian pizza, italian pasta.... Just need to be red and it's italian kind !!

I don't remember the name of the place ! ;oP Anyway, if you pass by Turino, ask him to go on bike ride with him (if he still have one ;oP) !! He's just on fire ! For someone who likes to eat like me, eating a real pizza made by a real Italian in a real friendly party, what a delicious experience.

oct '08: alessandro & the very lovely sara visited quite serendipitously to a shuffle but "everything always works out" way of life. they're kind, comfortable, entertaining, & generous. thank you for the delicious cookies! andrew loves the beavis & butthead!! i hope our mutual love of music will inspire a lifetime of sharing. i look forward to future visits and more opportunities to share seattle oddities and the best sushi restaurants in town (minus time constraints). i have no doubt that should we reside in the same town, these two would be dear friends.

sept '07: we traveled to a beautiful farm for a pigroast... walked the land and experienced the beautiful misty, seattle weather on our faces. dr. a left stories, delicious candies, a cd of italian music, and a void that i could have done so much more. come back kind man and i'll SHOW you seattle! i want to visit you!

 

Even though his stay was short I had a great time talking and getting to know him! He's a very nice and interesting character. I really hope to see you in Italy.

 

Alessandro is the funniest doctor I've ever met...no, actually he's probably the funniest guy I've ever met and the one and only funny doctor I've ever seen...(and I know what I'm talking about) :) He's someone impossible to describe but you definitely have to meet him! Great time ensured!

Alessandro is a super fun Italian couch surfer, he hired a car and drove three of us to a stunning mountain range in northern Quebec called Charlevoix. We also had some time to explore a bit of Quebec city, down a pint or two, and eat the famous Quebecan Putsin dish. He must be seen to be believed :D

 

Although Alessandro tells me that he was in a quiet mood while he was here he was still very sociable, totally funny, cooked 3 of us a fabulous dinner, went out for drinks two nights in a row with other CSers, tried out circus classes with my friends and survived a night at Sneaky Dees just before an all night bus trip. Looking forward to visting him in Italy!

I just remember that I asked Alessandro to surf his couch in september or october 2006... what happened? He gave me his cell phone number and I didn't contact him... that's a shame! I would have a great time!

Life gave me the chance to meet this guy in my own town at a CS meeting in Myriam's house. We talked a short time but that was enough to know that Dr Winger has this italian attractive joyfull extremely happiness to share to the entire world.

He has this little something special that makes everybody smile when he's joking or even when he's serious.

Alessandro and his friend Shilly invaded around dinner time, made fun of themselves, examinated VanIsland Vampires, learned about Yams and how to scare waitresses. They only stopped for taking a brief nap, until they proceeded talking about Italian culture and it's specialties, while bringing me breakfast to work. They are hilarious, a total riot! Absolutely, highly recommended guests - their stay here on the island was way too short. Hey, you are always welcome back!

I was lucky enough to surf Alessandro's (Aka Dr. Winger) couch as my first couch surfing experience. He is the life of a party, gets along with everyone and has a great sense of humour. At the same time he was also very sensitive to our needs and made us feel very welcome. If you are passing through Torino Dr. Winger is the man to meet.

 

I met Dr. Ale for the first time in Pistoia's meeting @ Massimo's. Then he hosted me, Massimo, Sere & Sabi during Traffic in Turin. We met again during Pizza Meeting in Pistoia in september. He is really funny and intelligent. Kind and smart as guest and as host (he was our guide in Turin). If you are in Turin you can not miss "our" ambassador!!!

 

Alessandro came to a Picnic I organized at my house with other CS friends. The following day we had dinner together with Roberta and our marvellous cook Deborah. We had a great time together and spoke about many things...wel I bored him to death with all my stories and he was so patient listening!! This guy is one of those who allow CS system to work, pushing everybody towards CS phylosophy!! Although it doesn't exist as a feature, he is no simple "ambassador", he's a CS SENATOR!!
I promise to spent some time with him next time I go to Torino (if he will still have some patience left...)
I suggest Alessandro and Roberta as a great enjoyable company!

Another update...this time Mr Senator has organized a great meeting on a beach in Liguria, wonderful place!! we should have slept in our sleeping bags on an uncomfortable beach ... but at 1.30 in the morning he called us and let us ALL 11 people (plus himself and Roberta) sleep in her apartment nearby!

i keep on seeing this guy too often...but he's the CS senator, it's normal. This time is just to thank the incredible amount of work he managed to put up during the "pistoia pizza party"...the hardest work of all, spending a lot of time in front of the fire instead of enjoying himself in the party. what to say? Alessandro has been reference for me in the CS world and an example to follow. A friend to rely on and a guarantee that CS really works!

Doctor Winger, my first couchsurfing experience.. a great experience. He is the real hospitality personification, very kind, absolutely positive, always smiling, extremely comprehensive (sad to recognise this as "not the most positive period of my life"). Ale and his girlfriend Roby introduced me to their friends Matteo and Silvio, both very nice. The best kebab I've ever tasted and delicious crèpes eaten in a very particular restaurant. He and Roby have been a special meeting in a very deep, hard moment.

Extremely energetic, enthusiastic about CS, always curious about everything, always in for fun, laughs and meetings. He presses people to get involved in the perfect way and with perfect timing. I owe him my partecipation to the Natural Born Pizza meeting and turned out that he knew what I needed after a bad week much better than me. If the only good thing about CS was that I met Alessandro (which is not obviously) that would be quite enough for me

Met alessandro in 3 different situations. Two times in Pistoia and one in Punta Chiappa meeting.
I am not used to leave reference if I don't know the person quite well and actually I haven't chat too much with him becasue really too many people around... but this time I couldn't help leaving a positive comment becasue I can say without doubt Alessandro is a really soul of CS! He organized a wonderful meeting in Liguria and, at about 1:30 in the morning, while we were choosing if to sleep in a humid sand beach or in an uncomfortable rock beach :-) he proposed us to let us (ALL OUR BIG GROUP OF 11 PEOPLE!!!!!) spend the night with him and Roberta in her place! A really wonderful example of hospitality!!

Just to tell him thanks for the big and really important help he gave to Riccardo and me during second Pizza party in Oliver_luni place!!! This time Pingo and I were having a lot of problems to fire the oven, we had struggled for more than one hour tryng to make burn that not so easy wood, then Alessandro arrived and in 15 minutes he made a perfect fire!!
Besides he prepared the first 3 kilos of Pizza (and he knew exactly what and how to do it in the best way) and then he spent pratically all the evening in front of the oven putting in and
pulling out really a lot of 'focacce' and 'pizze' in the heavyest work for a pizza maker! Thanks again!!

 

Alessandro could not have provided me with a better introduction into the couch surfing experience. My time with him in and around Torino was a wonderful conclusion to a two week way word tour of Italy.

Thanks for organizing the "Punta Chiappa" meeting!
Alessandro was the focal point of the meeting, of course, and being more than 40 people we didn't have the possibility to talk too much... It was our very first CS-meeting and we didn't know anybody but we had a great day and met lots of nice people.

What can I add over hundred of references that I consider true about Alessandro? We know each others from a very long time (1991), we spent lot of time together, expecially when we were younger. I think that time (experiences...) got better its character, and probably also mine, so that we can be close friends altough we are pretty different. Really sensitive, funny, deep, intelligent, extravagant... I'm so happy to be a friend of him!

It's hard to get to know someone at a meet up with 40+ people there, but me and my wife would love to catch up with Alessandro and the Torino tribe in the future!

 

He hosted us during one night. We didn't have time enought to chat but Alessandro seems to be a very nice person. I hope to see him and his friends Debora and Federico soon (maybe in Nice). Thank you so much for everything Doc. Take care

 

First time we talk he called me "carciofona" (big artichoke...). There were three things to do: (1)kill him for the rest of his life (2)hate him for the rest of my life (3)give him another chance.
I chose the thirdone, and I'm so happy for my choice because, after all, he's not bad, he's just drawn that way ;P

Alessandro is a fantastic host...and great guy. Loves entertaining and great to plan fun dinners and walks around Torino. He loves that I use his computer all the time and I know he thinks I'm great even if every problem there is is my fault!!! This was my first experience of CS as a guest and I couldn't have been more lucky! I crashed on Alessandro's couch and he really made me feel at home. He's so kind and nice. He introduced me to his friends too and we spent some nights together. I've never been in Torino before, but now I feel like it's a place I've always known.

What can I say about the inimitable Alessandro? Ok, so I already said he was inimitable. When he Waltzed into our lives, little did I know they would change forever. He's a charming sort, who made himself at home and I felt relazed in his company immediately. I really enjoyed our bizarre conversations and I think we were secretly trying to out surreal the other. Many a belly laugh was had. Just one thing! Be careful when giving your opinion about his fave musician Meat Loaf, the guy will defend him to the death, at least in so far as "if looks could kill". Be warned. Alessandro is a fantastic bloke and I look forward to meeting him again

Bravo! Bellisimo! These are some of the terms that I can use to describe Alessandro and my experience with him. I was completley amazed at how well he was as a host. He is very funny and makes you feel like you are at home.I only stayed at his house one night but we hung out with him and his friends (who are also wonderful) a few nights along with our new host we were staying with. He is just an amazing person who loves life and adores people. He has this thing or ora around him that puts everyone in a great mood. You are always having a good time when he is around. He is definitely some sort of Super Human! He also is very caring and always willing to help you out. He just seems to have this thing called life figured out and you try to learn from his example.Well, bottom line if you are in Torino, and his couch is available, I suggest you treat yourself and surf his couch!

 

Alessandro is a great Country Ambassador, really active in CS; we usually meet at Turin's group dinners and hang out all together when we host Cser.

What can I say about Alessandro? First, he is a fun and friendly host; enthusiastic to the max with an exceptionally funny sense of humor. We arrived on the hostest day in Torino's history, but luckily Alessandro had one room converted into an ice box. We indulged his Pepsi addiction and then drove around town encouraging the local drivers to drive just a little faster. Following a series of events, we needed a 4:30am wake up call, and Dr. W came to the rescue! Even delivered us to our meeting with pastries in hand :)

well.... what to say. I know him since a little bit of time. .before signing up to the couchsurfing... .he's reliable and sure serious person and as a host (for the rest he is likeable. .a clown even if of) it only lacks the red nose. .we'll work on it.. from what I am understanding one is much oriented in maintaining good efficency of the site. and in creating group between the recently enrolled one. .moreover he's helping me translate what I write in my page as I do not know English (hope that he translates all that I write on him in this moment eheheh)

Ale and his wonderful girl Roberta showed us every conrner of their city giving us tons of informations despite the unbearable heat. Alessandro is the perfect host. even though it was not easy having the Tuscan crew (4 people!) all the same time in his place, he went the extra mile to make us feeling welcome.. the signs that "explained" us how to go around in 5 different languages need a mention! He offered us genuine hosting spirit. Pure CS breed!

After meeting him last year, this time Alessandro hosted me and a friend of mine. We had a great time with him and Mirtillina. Alessandro is very talkative and witty. talking with him is always interesting and exhilarating.

I met Alessandro in the CS event 'London Calling' and from almost enemies:) we became almost best friends. He's got a biting sense of humor, kind hart and nice smile. Obviously art and geography is not his strongest sides, but this doesn't make him any less interesting and fun to be with.

Ale, aka Dr. Winger is an extremely entertaining person... you will never get bored in his company.. I have visited him several times and have not been bored for a second - ever..
We have been doing trips through the country side, city.. anywhere.. being attacked by bees.. (one! - but that was enough for a striptease on the road-side :P) and .. yeah loads more... his music collection is amazing, fascinating!.. and his humour is very different from anything I have ever in my life come across.. as I said you won't get bored... great friend! This is THE CouchSurfing man. I love easygoing people and this guy is the easiest ever. No operating manual, no cumbersome instructions, just turn it on and enjoy the nice company.. This thing can stand more than 4 different conversations at once and still being able to eat and drink. Marvelous. Of course he has some disadvantages as well. He's a doctor and will probably try to x-ray your pet and, too bad, he comes from Turin (!kidding!).
Did I say he has a great clown-girlfriend too? Wonderful guests, really hope to see them more and more.

Alessandro came in Siracusa riding his motorbike with his girlfriend and a gang of funny and clever friends.
We tried to break a guinness world record as the slowest dinner of all time but we failed.

We stayed with Alessandro for a night and it was an experience. He has a dry sense of humour and was great fun to be with. One thing we found really helpful was an italian driving lesson in a busy italian city at night in the rain. He taught Tony to drive without worrying about any road laws, double parking in a three lane hwy - while we went for icecreams and he tooted the horn many many times to help with certain situations - however we have found this lesson to be of great benefit since, while travelling in italy.
Great fun guy to be with and enjoyed meeting his interesting friends.

Still can't understand how we made it possible to get in touch and meet that nite: me driving from Milan to Turin, a common friend front PC in Padova, your late dinner already planned in Turin, a polish paramedic willing to see the town by nite ... Alessandro was my first couchsurfer experience and I could not had a better one. He is a charismatic character, very thoughful and with a wonderful sense of humour. We all enjoyed of his company! I am looking forward to see him again, he is a good guy!

I knew Dr. Winger many years ago, because he was Federfico's best friend at that time... we always shared a lot of interests, travels, informatics, pc, iPods, and now Couchsurfing. He organized a Pizza at my place with Fats Lena and several other friends, and it was great fun. We went several times to the seaside on his bike, but then i got bored of being the passenger so i decided yo buy my own!!! Definitely a good couch to surf, a cool guy to hang around with, a great biker to ride with!!! We spent hours talking about everything and even more. I very often cook dinner for him, and i like eating his farinata!

Alessandro is not only my first host ever in Torino, which demands a mention, but also one of the best around. He invited me to his place, where he keeps an incredible Cd´s collection and controlled mess, along with fellow couchsurfers Giovanna and Marcus, and he really made us feel welcome. Funny guy, pretty smart and very active, Alessandro doesn´t miss a meeting. I can only recommend him to everyone looking for something more than a place to crash in Torino.

 

I spent with Alessandro only a few hours, when he invited me to joint a pizza-self-making dinner at his home. Unfortunately I came late 'cause of my job, but also in that limited time I appreciate very much Alessandro. He seems to be really a "mi casa es tu casa" guy! CS spirit runs in his veins for sure. I hope to meet again for other CS events.

Let me tell you something about this guy, at least how can a voyeur see him :), smart, funny, determined, bhoemian, adventurer, he definetly brings another colour to a painting. I first met Allesandro on-line, but then just got to meet him in person a few days ago. What a great guy! I had read all of these great comments in his references, and they turn out to be all true....and then some! He's one of the warmest people I've ever met, even inviting me to his family's party after just meeting me. He's DEFINITLY a PEOPLE person, and makes you feel at home right away. He's from Turin but he decided to join the picnic CS meeting in Milan :) I especially like people who travel just to meet CS members ;) I really hope to see you soon in Milan or in Turin!!

 

I never realized how much close are Milan and Turin, before I met him. He came several times in Milan, partecipating to our gatherings: like the picnic, where we teased each other about english language and sicilian streets (even if I can't remember what there is in common between), or during the spanish invasion. But he is super-active, and he organizes a meeting in Milan, in a sushi restaurant (no one knew that place) that became one of my favourite place to eat japanese food. When I realized the idea to came in Turin, he releaved to be a great host, great Nintendo Wii player, great meat food cooker, great guy, great bla bla bla. That wasn't the last time I met him, but one of the first times I share a story with him!

 

We met in Milano at a picnic meeting. Talked a little, hope to meet him again soon.

 

Alessandro indeed likes to laugh and smile. During the CS picnic in Milano we talked about different things including stereotypes. No worries, mate, now you know that every swiss is carrying an army knive all the time :) we spent a good time together and i enjoyed his sense of humer and openness a lot.

I had the extreme fortitude of sharing my first couch surfing experience with Alessandro & Co. In Torino to search for my Italian relatives that only my Grandfather had know (and he died in 1996 himself) fate/ luck/ karma brought me to the steps of the good doctor, Alessandro and his entourage of friends:-) This being my first couch surfing experience, I was completely unaware of how the system worked and therefore was most greatful to fall under the tutalige of Alessandro's vast experience.

The time shared with Alessandro, his girlfriend, his best friend Shilly and his girlfriend, was a most wonderful exchange not soon to be forgotten. Upon arrival, the two university students I'd met up with were wondering how to get to the nearest hostle. Instead of simply telling them what bus to take, Alessandro went out of his way to drive my friends there himself after offering them to dine with us. A very rich meal of pasta was cooked that evening and devouved whole-heartedly after a full two days of work coupled into travel. Good conversation ensued, followed by a fantastic gelato dessert down the street. If interested in his bed, know it's a sterile environment and will probably be the cleanest sheets you'll ever sleep in! The following day I woke up to a nice morning cafe with Alessandro before departing for Shilly's house as the gents went to work. Shilly's mother welcomed me in and was a huge help arrianging for the reuion of me with my Italian family. After spending the next days with my family, I met back up with Alessandro and company for evenings of drinks, treats, food and good times (not to mention entertaining photo ops:-). You really start to feel the vibe of the city hanging with these folk.

Enough cannot be said about the character of Alessandro, Shilly and their compainions. They truely went out of their way to make me feel welcome as if I was their long lost family. Full of knowledge, patient with questions, and always good for unending laughter, a trip through Torino would be incomplete without a stop by their couch!

Alessandro is a really nice and outgoing guy, sure is an interesting person and I look forward to meet him again... maybe with a nice temaki in my hand and a big japanese beer on the table!!

 

I have to say FIRST that for me was a pleasure to have in my house an ambassador CS and his lovely girlfriend Roberta! I soon felt they were great people and i had the confirmation as soon as i met them and their friends just out from the restaurant. We had a short walk in the city centre and a pleasant chat while we were drinking "local" beer. the day after they went to Agrigento but not before having enjoyed the best palermo's ice cream ;) hope to see them again.....i'm sure i will

Alessandro and his girlfriend were really fun guests and I hope I get the chance to host them again (for longer next time) or maybe surf their couches in Turin. They managed to find me at a barbecue in the hills of Pistoia AND find my house afterwards... just following a map on a post-it! Not bad! (but they did get lost on the bus). We had a very multi-cultural 24 hours of food together- from an Italian picnic with American, Tuscan and Sicilian food (and chocolates from Belorussia)to Egyptian sandwiches, Spanish sangria and Torinese cookies. And don't forget the Liguran focaccia! Besides all the eating, we had some great conversations and I really enjoyed the company. Alessandro really has the CS spirit and Roberta does too (make her sign up!). Definitely one not to be missed!

 

He surfed our couch for one night with his girlfriend. I am really sorry that I didn't talk with them the night when they arrived, but I was really tired after a day of sport on TV. The day after we had a really interesting and funny conversation in front of a glass of tequila and I realized that I have been really stupid not to talk with them the night before. OK too many words to say that they are really great and that you have to host them!!!

After only a few days notice Alessandro agreed to help out myself and my friend Leah by offering us a place to stay in Turin on our whirlwind vacation through Italy. He was my first experience with couchsurfing and I would not be disappointed. He went out of his way for us and was the perfect host. He even circled the train station repeatedly looking for us when we couldnt find our way to the designated meeting point and then followed by taking us out to real italian pizza with some colleagues of his. He toured us around Turin until 3am even though he had work early the next morning, what a guy! He and his friends were so nice and EXTREMELY entertaining. Alessandro was so open-hearted and friendly right off the bat. I only hope I can return the favor by hosting him someday.

 

Its hard to say things about the doc that havent already been said. But I will do it anyway. This guy is one funny dude, the kind of guy I could see my self hanging ut with a lot if we lived in the same town. He showed us around his old family home in Villnova with his great girlfriend. Couldnt have asked for a better introduction into Italy.

It was fun to stay with Dr winger and his lovely girlfriend in Villanova. They introduced us to one of the best coffee i`ve had. espresso with hazelnut icecream in it! ohyeah! and what a chef. you wont go hungry away from this couple.

I met Alessandro at high school and recently found his name on CS. I remember him as a very dynamic and friendly guy, and I'm sure he still is as he is an active couchsurfer!

 

I know Dr. Winger since June 6th, 1990. I could tell 1 million stories about Alessandro... He is a very intelligent person even if he sometimes his head is like a stone.
Some silly people don't enjoy him from the first moment, but it's their problem... and pity. He lives a stone throw from him, and sometimes when he can't host i can...
I initially knew about this project from him, and I must admit that it's very nice. He sometimes has a very strong and embarrassing laughter, expecially at movie theater.
We spent a lot of time talking about movies, music, we very often exercise together in my private gym in the basement, I thaught him a lot of tricks about how to develope muscles and in fact now is very more thicker (spisso) than he used to be. We spent NYE 2002 touring with a crazy camper van in Prague, Budapest and Wien, sooooooooo cold...
Our life-long friendship is something that fills that part of me that often tends to be not too serious. Unintentionally i aleways hung out with people more serious than me (that is quite easy), and I think that with time he started taking himself less seriously... we are a work still in progress.
What i like from him is that he can be very critical and very rational. Despite we discussed many times in the past, we always both had the intelligence to improve our friendship. I really love him: would i exchange for all the world's gold? Of course, but then we would leave together for some Caribbean shore and i would pay him high percentage. Mortacci Sua!!!

 

Dr Winger is a wonderful guy, very kind, honest and it's a true italian ! He speak a lot ;-) but that's very interesting. It was 2 excellent days in Torino, it was a very good experiment but take care when he's driving... like the italians... very dangerous and fast ;-) I'm not sure that he has his driving licence... Firstly, I owe Dr. Winger an apology for my delayed reference entry. It has completely slipped off my mind. We were somewhat under pressure to be an enjoyable guest for Alessandro because we were told that his previous host were great. I think Alessandro has expressed the difference we had in a very mature, and precise manner. I think both parties never lost respect for the other despite feeling the difference of human quality. He was the biggest admirer of Ryuichi Sakamoto I have seen, and also a listener of diverse music, which is a clear indication that he is an open minded person. Alessandro is a man with two personality, one which is very young and the other which is very intellectual and mature. We wish that we can meet again, hopefully in Japan because it is a place he should definitely have seen, at least once. Arrivederci, Alessandro

Alessandro is one of a kind!! this guy is such a funny and giving person. You have to understand him to understand his jokes sometimes, but other then that, he is a wonderful guy. Alessandro did all he could to invite us into his life and show us a great time. He introduced us to his family and drove us to a small town called coconato in his time off. When I first met Alessandro, it was at the bottom of its flat,in Torino.He had accepted to couch me and we hadn't sent mail since several days.And I finally saw him,his face lighted by his permanent smile.Then he explained to me that for my night of couch, he would let me sleep in Silvio's appartment, a close friend of he.I 've immediately been at ease , talking with Alessandro as if we've known for years.So I slept at Silvio's house, this person is fantastic,very cultured, and Silvio's parents are generous and sincere.They cooked some delicious stew with quality meat and vegetables.Then, I spent the 3 other days continuously in pasta ambiances, great moment of big laughing and honesty . Alessandro is the most original, authentic , man I've met so far!I strongly recommend any person who'd want to discover a great guy and also his close relatives, her mother, his father, his remarquable "nonna", Roberta, Adele , Eduardo and the very thoughtful Silvio. I was staying with another Couchsurefer in Turin and arranged for us to meet for pizza and a beer. He and his friends are very funny and I would recommend anyone visiting Turin to hook up with Winger.

Dr. Winger is a great friend, someone you can always trust. ...he's very propositive, comprehensive, brilliant, and open to people and things around him.

There were some communication issues :), haha, but Alessandro and I survived. His girlfriend, Roberta, and him picked me up from the Torino Maratona expo and took me to their place on Saturday night. He had to go to the cinema so his girlfriend Roberta gave me the night time tour of Torino. She was awesome and explained to me the history of the entire town. For being there less than 24 hours, I definately got a good feel for the city. Went out and had dinner. Ran the marathon, I was retarded and forgot to bring my cell phone so out link up afterwards was an hour delayed. He cooked me lunch, drove me to the train station, and here I am right now on the train to Genova thinking how cool Alessadro and Roberta were. Awesome people. Definately hope we can link up when I do the Milano Marathon in two weeks.

This man is totally nuts!!! Never met such a crazy ass doctor before! He's extremely funny, smart and open minded, but also reliable and very nice and deep inside very sweet too. I like him and I definitely want to keep seeing him and his girlfriend Roberta and all their friends, 'cause I like them just as much as I like Dr Nuts! :D

Dottore Winger! It was last minute, but Alessandro, pardon me, Dottore Winger, took me in. He gave me the quick tour through Torino and took me to dinner and drinks with his friends. Although I don't speak Italian, I had a great night figuring out the conversations and the gestures! Alessandro is a great host, he
s very openminded, funny and enthousiastic. He's crazy in traffic ('Why did you stop for that red light?!?')!! We had a good talk until late at night. And I do plan to finish it some day. Next year, I'll definetly join him for the festival in Vila Nova!!!

 

Birthday Boy!!! Alessandro received me during his birthday and he will make your stay very comfy and nice. I had a great time talking with him, making pizza and talking to his grand-ma, to his nice friend all this during his birthday party. treated like ... royalty in italy !!! wow ... what a way to be introduced to couchsurfing !!! i signed up and my very first request to couchsurf was with alessandro C. He accepted my request without hesitation and opened not only his arms - but his family, friends and city's arms as well. from the moment he picked me up till my reluctant departure, he orchestrated one hell of a great time, never to be forgotten. I was wisked away to the family retreat and introduced to them all, including some friends & locals. I have never eaten such home cooking in my life, for example within 2 hours of arriving lunch was served at 12.30pm promptly and i didnt get off much chair from eating till 4.30pm !!! every day & every meal was an event of participation and pleasure. home cooked pizza, salads, gelato, cakes, pasta, pasta and more beautiful pasta, etc etc etc. Alessandro can join me wherever i am on my yearly journey. he's a wizard, he may work an 18 hour day and still made time for each and every meal with me. He played the perfect host and even entertained my friends from abroad. Hes parents are the best and he is a reflexion of their warm hearts. A nicer guy i have yet to meet, i love you and your life alessandro !
updated aug 06 = well have i got stories to tell !!! after hearing italy was in the final ... i invited alessandro to couchsurf at msdanny's in berlin. we had a ball. then he was driving back to torino so i jumped in his green ferrari ! and stayed over 3 weeks in north italy. we rented a harley and rode the italian coastline towards france ... staying in san lorenzo del mare (near imperia)! alessandro is now mz official living "ledgend". he has inspired me to live life to the max !!!

 

alessandro we love you! Alessandro is one of the best person you'll find ever. He showed us the city by night, we met his friends, went to a bbq, also we went to his great country town, Villanova d'asti, with his nice nonna and great friend. We can't wait to host him in Madrid

Amazing Doc!! Alle or that's what I call him even though he prefers people to call him Winger, is a very Ganerous and Sensitive person. So having both of that elements, he should be a quiet type of person... no at all. He's positively fun, cheerful, full of laughters and jokes. What make it special is the people around him. Beautiful friends, cool parents and lovely Granny. Go meet him and you'll know what I mean. Btw, I'm visiting him again. Long live Doc!! Yes he's a Doctor!!
