We need at least one week notice to be able to host. The more advance notice the better. One or two days just isn't enough time!
We live in town. 2 people in the house. 3 dogs
(if you call the two chihuahuas dogs) and 1 canary. Don't smoke. Nice two person spa. Skiing-2 hour away, 2 lakes and camping, within miles. Turtle Bay Exploration Park. Home of the Sundial Bridge. Waterworks Park. Shopping malls. Great restaurants. We love to cook at home too. We can show around on the weekends. Public bus transport available. We have blankets for winter, don't need them in summer. 2 days is good unless it seems like longer is better... We are late night people and sometimes late risers. In other words when we stay up late we sleep late unless we have something awesome to do!

Graduated college 1974. Worked in the North Sea oil patch for about 3 years. Had Europe as my backyard and got to see a lot of it(Holland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, Austria, Italy, Spain, Greece..). My bro and I left London and traveled to India, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, all the Hawaiian islands, then home. Got called to work the New Zealand Maui A platform for a year. Got home, married and eventually settled here in Redding.
Drove big rigs cross-country. Had a full line pet store in Quincy, CA for about 3 years. Sold the store and left Quincy for Redding.
I am a surveyor for Caltrans. I'm in the office out of the field working with GIS. Love to play my 12 string guitar in my spare time.
Hey! I'm the Wife, very much still in love with the man described above. He loves me, treats me heavenly and we get along well enough to travel the world. We are a family of 6. Tyler, Millie our 19 yr old dog, Sunny our 9 yr Canary, Buster and Daisy our 2yr chihuahua puppies, oh and ME. 'Marsha spends her time watching soap operas and eating bonbons.'(not really). {He secretly believes this so I bought some one day and surprised him...lol} I enjoy volunteering at our local library as a computer teacher and at the new local Behrens-Eaton Museum. I also enjoy helping my Mom and shopping with her.
We are Christians. We respect all peoples beliefs.
How I Participate in CS
Our house is available for 2-3 days(?) to fellow travelers. International travelers get first choice!! You must contact us prior to your visit!(I think that is rather obvious). Weekends are best so we would be able to show you around. We like our city. Coffee is good too if you are just cruising thru and need a break from the road.
We were hosted throughout New Zealand and Australia.
Couchsurfing Experience
Surfed 6 hosts in New Zealand and had a wonderful time meeting the locals and gleaning from them their local secrets. We stayed in 2 non-CS homes also.
We have met some exciting people and it is absolutely incredible that some of them know other people we knew 30 years ago in New Zealand!!
Had a great experience CSing in OZ for two months. Only got to surf with three families as we were traveling with another couple. 4 surfers is quite a bundle, kudos to those that took us in.
Interests
We enjoy traveling and meeting other travelers.
I like to fish and have a few good 'secret' spots that only a few thousand know about...lol
Stargazing, Golfing, Google Earth, Computers. I play guitar...country western, rock n roll, christian songs.
I {Marsha} don't do outdoors too much, the sun just wears me out and burns me up! However, I do love BBQ's, friends to visit and just living life as full as I can.
Philosophy
Do it while you can!
Tell the truth. It's much easier!
Laugh it's healthy! (my 2 cents, the wife)I live my life to glorify God and help others find their way if they ask. Sometimes I tell them whether they ask or not!! oops.

We enjoy going out for a nice meal and an evening of communication/dialog. We enjoy cooking at home too if you need a home cooked meal. What do you want to learn we might know it?
One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done
Worked on oil platforms in the North Sea, Mexico and New Zealand. Saw some pretty humongus seas, but the best or nastiest seas were on the Tasman Sea....80 foot seas...huge!
Festival de San Fermin...Pamplona. Way cool!
The coral and fish at the Great Barrier reef!
Well, I married Tyler that was amazing and still is. I saw and rode an elephant and discovered that they have hair! I've jumped off a 25 foot bridge into the water, it was COoooold water. I know that is 3, I like to push the envelope.
Opinion on the Couchsurfing.org Project
This is a fantastic idea! We so much wanted to meet the locals and this is just the ticket. Tyler is right, I hate to admit it though, don't tell him.

This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.

Tyler and Marsha are great hosts. They are very accommodating, their dogs are cute as buttons, and there is generally great good cheer throughout. I had a stupendous time in their care.

Tyler and Marsha were great hosts. I stayed with them as part of my bicycle trip from Arcata to the Bay Area (through the Central Valley this time). If you get a chance to visit, make sure you ask Tyler to pick out a few songs on his 12-string guitar (he is an excellent player).

Tyler and Marsha are easy going and sweet hosts. I enjoyed spending time with them talking about travels or whatever else over waffles (with real maple syrup!) and puzzles. Thank you both again for opening your home to me, I am very grateful to you and hope to see you again.

Marsha and Tyler are wonderful people. I enjoyed talking about the lighter side of life and at the same time touching on some deeper elements (Marsha, I'm thinking about a few topics we covered in the kitchen!). Tyler and Marsha are genuine and caring individuals and prove that giving is a gift in itself. I was comfortable and happy to stay at their home.

Super friends, very forgiving and are fun to travel with. They helped us to step out of our comfort zone with regards to travel. We worked together to complete our journey through Australia.
The first time I walked into their home I felt like I was returning - immediately comfortable. I was treated with a slide show and stories of their New Zealand trip and many tips for my up coming travels down under. Many thanks for the show, the traveling tips, the dinner, the sundial bridge, the pictures, the Tupperware contact, etc etc. A second night would have been wonderful (and certainly much better than alone in a hotel in Reno). Totally enjoyed my stay.
