---UPDATE-I have just returned to San Francisco after two months in Europe(Berlin/Copenhagen).

I have lived in: Wuhan>Dallas>Baltimore>Chicago>Stockholm>Copenhagen>San Francisco>Berlin

I am Chinese-American Masters student and I have been living in Europe(Stockholm/Copenhagen/Berlin) for the last two years and am most recently based in San Francisco. I am a Biomedical Engineer and entrepreneur and working on launching my own digital health startup.

I specialize in being uncool. During my recent stay in Berlin, I was denied entrance to one of Berlin's trendy hipster clubs because I "didn't' fit the crowd". The next day, a friend tried to console me by saying: " Wow Ran, you are so EXTREMELY uncool, that you are actually kinda cool." I'm not sure if that's a compliment or insult, buuuuut I'll take it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I have surfed twice, two nights in Lund, Sweden and a weekend while visiting Copenhagen. I hosted two sets of surfers while I was living in Stockholm and another surfer for over a month in Copenhagen. I must say all these experiences have been fantastic!
