About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning NVC this year. And learning about racism and my white privilege.

ABOUT ME

I'm slowly finding my way in life.. at the moment locating a lot of fears and trying to translate them into nvc instead of labeling myself and others.

I think a lot. I know a lot about sexism. I'm super interested in group dynamics, and I'm pretty Obsessed with conflicts (in groups, between individuals, everywhere) and how to resolve them in a peaceful sensitive way -- and I don't know how! Yet. -- I'm usually involved in conflicts regarding oppressive systems, some of these conflicts end up on this blog.

I'd like to learn how to enjoy life more. I was recently seriously bullied for my political convictions (which is: The Right To Exist and Love and Be Loved. For All.) And it's taking me some time to get over that. I'm very open as a person. And at the same time very insecure and reserved.

I've lived in Helsinki since 2003. And I have a thing about Finnish culture. HATE it! The thing with neighbors twitching and looking away if I say "Hi!" or close their door when you open yours to go out, and wait for you to leave before they (dare to?) go out themselves. Plus all the depressive and aggressive drinking going on in the Capital.

I've been a part of the drinking crowd myself. I just recently joined AA again. I figure I don't want to be depressive and aggressive.. 16 years of that is enough..

The last three years I've been traveling a LOT, hitch hiking around Europe, going to different political gatherings (No Borders camp in Ukraine, Anarchofeminist festival in Croatia, Anti-g8 in Germany, COP15 in Denmark and so on on on). I'm pretty fed up with the radical left and wish there was a way to go from slogans such as "Another world is possible! And we know how!" to working on communication and dealing with conflict, violence and confrontation within this social scene, and through this getting to the liberatory practice I see lacking everywhere. I would like for us to move Toward Transformative Justice. Here is an online reading group for discussing the text with the same name.

I'm off and on out of hope.. BUT I absolutely believe in love. I guess that's the most important thing about me. And I call everybody she.

PHILOSOPHY

Paso a paso. Step by step. And Love Is Possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Isn't that obvious: Life! Kind of.. F-rrr-eeakkyy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can offer to do different workshops (Consensus Culture & Decision Making; Feminist Self Defense; Theatre of The Oppressed; Alternative spaces and squatting from a radical feminist point of view) if you can find people who are interested in participating in them.

Here's a short description of the workshops.

:: Consensus Culture & Decision Making
How to deal with dictatorship in so called “flat structured/anarchist/leaderless horizontal” groups?

Practical workshop with short intro to consensus and different meeting techniques. --- Consensus means to agree, to compromise until everybody can agree on something. It’s a method to practice direct democracy. It doesn’t mean that everybody should be of the same opinion. It simply means that it’s possible to agree on a decision that everybody can accept.
.. ..

:: Feminist Self Defense
Practical workshop with mental, verbal and physical self defense. Including games and role-play.

(For “WOMEN” = persons born with female genitals or intersexed who have had faced oppression because of being categorized as female,"women" by the rest of society, “TRANS-MEN” and “TRANS-WOMEN”)

.. ..

:: Theatre of the oppressed
Practical workshop where we through various warm-up exercises, games, and finally theatre (role play) explore oppression on an up-close personal level.
.. ..

:: Alternative spaces & squatting from a radical feminist point of view.
Radical feminist talking about sexism within a social center project in Helsinki and other spaces. Intro and then free discussion.
