关于我

CURRENT MISSION

Learning to perfect the blend between traveling and keeping close community

ABOUT ME

After drifting about for some time I finally found my home which turned out to surprisingly be in Peru. I turned up in Nov. 2011 and started work as a volunteer doing construction and now find myself with my own land (sort of) and developing it into a permaculture school for a sustainable community. With ayahuasca and San Pedro here as well its a fairly spiritually minded place, but extremely well grounded as well, which is a blend I love and hadn't really found elsewhere to this extent. Mostly, I just love being here to create and build anything I can think of.

PHILOSOPHY

Act on those things I dream to do, and keep nudging myself out of lethargy when ever I feel myself slipping into it. Learn the secrets of being as loving as one can be while remembering to include myself in that act.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love hosting people and have plenty of space for campers on my land. Sadly, the internet is not so great up here so I'm not on often which makes coordinating visitors here a bit difficult. I'm hoping to improve this, but for now if you're planning to come try requesting in advance. Also, although I speak Spanish, its not that great, so with limited time on the internet if you could write in English just for time's sake that'd be lovely.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am just continually amazed out how generous people actually are. From the days before I discovered this site I found myself often being put up in the homes of strangers just because they thought it'd be nice for me to have a warm bed for the night. Now with this site it seems that sense of giving is being given a great outlet for the world to experience a bit more recognizably. I find it even better on those times when political differences arise through conversation, which can be a bit strenuous, because it opens my perspective a bit more from my usual social circles while still staying in a positive light. In the end there's almost always a common interest we can find to talk about as well. These days I'm just so happy that I can start repaying all the times I was put up now that I have a place to house people in, and building more when I can.

兴趣

I like to hear, see, and know about the workings of the world. I love history and just shooting the shit about things to do with ourselves in life. Lately, as I said above, I'm entangled with these ideas of synchronicity and what life tends to shove in our faces to learn. I'm looking to meet more people who are trodding these explorations with wary but curious feet.

音乐、电影和书籍

I love anything from blow 'em up action movies like Spy Games & The Bourne Series, to goofy but brilliant like Joe vs. the Volcanoe or Babe: Pig in the City, and more serious like Happy Together, Life in a Day, & Pittsburgh.

Some of my favorite books lately have been The Razor's Edge by Maugham, Plato's Republic, War & Peace & Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, The Harry Potter series by Rowlings, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Clarke, and Wildseed by Butler. I also spend a lot of time reading history or spiritual studies. Basically fantasy to non-fiction, anything that appeals to honest human nature.

My music tastes are all over the place, but mainly I listen to mellow funky stuff like RJD2, Edith Piaf, Mulatu Astatke, and that kind of thing.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I suppose the most lasting impression of my life thus far has been crossing the US on foot. What amazed me most about it was how hospitable everyone was along the way and for this I intend to pass along the favor. Not to mention walking over fire or days upon days lost in deserts, the hospitality was the most notable on such a trek.

教,学,和分享

Hmm, an interesting section. This is precisely my focus these days; to learn from everyone and teach what I've learned along the way. I'm sure a lot of the hard core rovers out there would agree that if you listen internally then what ever is needed tends to appear in one way or another, and decisions that need to be made are generally best done going with your gut rather than with logic and reason. Investigating this as thoroughly as I can was the catalyst for the trip that lead me to where I live now, and now I seem to be finding a focus on what it is I'm to be doing with myself. It seems to me my calling is to be building this space for gathering and listen to as many people's stories as I can. If I can help them get on track for where they really want to be taking there life, and scoop out the ruts everyone tends to get mired in all the better. Others certainly do that for me often enough.
