ABOUT ME

We are three friends who like to experience life, new places and meeting new people. We are social, artistic, athletic, fun, and easy going.

Amber:
*Personality: hmmm...outgoing, talkative, glass half full, anything is possible if you are willing to change some things, never say I can't, somewhat idealistic, focused yet spontaneous, sometimes needs a reality check (often), loves hearing other points of view even if I dont like them, haha....
*Grew up in Idaho and California in the USA
*Graphic Designer & Book Illustrator by day
*Exuberant Dance Machine by night (well, in my mind)
*Studied Renaissance Art History abroad in Italy 2004
*Graduated with a BFA in Art & Design, concentration in Graphic Design 2009
*I love Grilled Cheese sandwiches and Tomato soup...well, actually I love food in general, but GC&TS are my fav
*Planning on living everywhere
*I have a huge crush on Gerard Butler and his sexy Irish accent, I would have his babies.
*Just started Karate, and contemplating being a Ninja on the side
*I am outgoing, friendly, high-energy, and find myself constantly talking to and meeting new people everywhere...however I love to curl up to a good book, a LARGE mug of hot mint tea WITH HONEY, and daydream for hours...
*I acquired the most amazing Spanish man on my backpacking extravaganza through Europe 2 years ago, he is now my hubby...gotta love fate :)

Janell:
*Grew up in Northern CA, in USA
*Photographer by choice
*Hotel Manager by necessity
*Graduated with a BFA in Art & Design
*Plan on moving to San Francisco after traveling
*Avid piano player and in process of learning the harp, would love to gain guitar skills
*My favorite food is everything...the best are meat, icecream, mashed potatoes, sushi (and not necessarily together)
*The love of my life, Ansel, is a 70lb Doberman Pincher.
*I may seem quiet and reserved at first, but under comfortable circumstances I let loose and become outgoing. I like to to laugh and have fun..make it happen....please?

Laura:
*Grew up in Central CA
*Poor college student milking free rent from my parents, and food from anyone I encounter....I love food,,,hint hint. :) Chocolate is my favorite.
*I absolutely LOVE being outyside and playing sports of any kind. recently I had a soccer accident that blew out my knee but I am up an going and on my way to recovery.
*I am a student almost done with my physical therapy education.
*I am in love with Fergie's husband...mmmm
*I am friendly and like meeting new people and doing new things.
*I have a lot of energy and sometimes talk really fast when Im excited...I tell really long stories with a lot of non-essential information...but when i get to the end its always funny

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we are all here for a reason, but we have to figure out what it is, and to do that we have to know who we are. I know that I want to be more than what I am now. I know that my potential is greater. I have not figured out my purpose in life, but I feel like I get a little closer every time I am thrown into an foreign environment. When I am in a place of beauty that is strange to me I am able to ponder and really think about who I am without the daily routine I am used to every day at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We plan on eventually being CS hosts when we have the means of doing so. We love the fact that there is an actual community where we can create opportunities for people to enjoy traveling. But until then we plan on gaining VALUABLE couchsurfing experiences and lifelong friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We surfed all together for the first time summer 2009 in Europe....We surfed through France, Italy, Irelan and the UK...and it was magnificent!!! We met SO MANY amazing people that we are lucky enough to call our friends. CS is amazing, don't ask, just DO IT.

Also we have surfed separatly as well...Amber up the east coast of the United States and in Spain, and Janell in CAlifornia...and more to come!!

Interests

Amber: *artist---Chagall is my fav*idrawprettypictures.com*love languages and culture, working on my spanish..and the man and I just moved to Turkey so now Im going (totry) to learn Turkish!!*creative, fanciful media. by that I mean, fantasy books with dragons and unicorns, etc. *I LOVE TO READ. I never have enough time to dedicate to my novel obsession, but I would really just like to have a job where I read books all day...can somebody arrange that for me? THanks.... I really like Fantasy crap that adds absolutely nothing to my life other than an increase in daydreams and a decrease in realistc goals....like Lord of the Rings, Ann McCaffrey Dragon Rider books, the Eragon series, Clan of the Cave Bear, and the Twilight series(i know,i should be ashamed of myself, but im not). I also have a fancy for 18th/19th century aristocratic romance novels...Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre are my favs...There's something about the old world language and soap opera shinanigans that catch my attention. Any book with imagination is great. Right now I have set a goal to read all 101 books on the US College Board's 101 greatest books of all time...I've only read 3...got 97 left to go!...*Also, I like creative cartoons/animations/Illustrations and Comic Art. Dragonball Z is my favorite. (I know, Im a 12 yr old school boy at heart)*Karate and self defense...I want to learn how to hurt people...jk, only if they try to hurt me first! Beware potential attackers!*Dance, Dance, Dance, any kind, anytime! Take me out! woohoo! (PS. I love Latin and Country, not necessarily together, but equally enjoyable)*I love my Spaniard (you can search our joint CS profile: Alvaro & Amber ...heehee re the only ones who have the stamina to keep up with me*I love going to concerts, I have seen A LOT! From Metallica, to the Beach Boys, to Brad Paisley, to Matchbox 20 to Iggy Marley...I have over 60 under my belt...would love to see more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amber:
*I rode in a hot air balloon during sunrise over the Serengeti in Africa. It was the most serene experience Ive ever had. I wasn't expecting it to be so quiet, just breath taking.
*Flew a plane(kinda) over the coast of Lisbon with my pilot hubby
*saw my baby brother being born, up close and personal.
*played games with local children of a Samburu tribe in Kenya

Janell:
*Been to a mission trip in Peru, surfing, seen Cameron Diaz in a bathroom, met Judas Priest at my work. Jumped off a 50ft. ledge with Laura in Nice, France! Did my first 16 mile run Montano De Oro, CA.

Laura:
*I am the most amazing thing you will meet or see...guaranteed. haha jk.

Teach, Learn, Share

Amber:
*so...the best sandwich ever IS: peanut-butter, honey and banana on toast! try it. You'll be amazed!
* UNO is the best way to meet and create realtionships with people...UNO brings the world together....lets play!
* I can teach you how to make tiramisu and yummy cookies

I'd like to learn:
*How to ride a motorcycle, I've ridden on the back of many...but...I NEED MORE!
*I would love to learn new languages...I just dont have enough time!
*Anything really cool and different from what I used to....I like being involved
*how to sew...I'm a pro with heat-tape, but that can take me only so far...
*OK, i realize it may be a little random...but I REALLY want to learn how to fence...make it happen people.

Janell:
