About Me

CURRENT MISSION

surfing the surfing site

ABOUT ME

I enjoy meeting other people and have found couch surfing a great way to make friends and help others. I've been a couch surfer for years, and now I'm hosting. I thought it would be great to connect with others with similar interests. I started out in Monterey, CA and surfed my way to the east coast. I really miss Cali and New England, so if you're from there, you must request me!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is good, but there is a lot of bad in it. If you focus on the good, the bad will eventually leave you alone to enjoy life! I live to love and serve. If I didn't have to work a job, I'd do more loving and serving! Someday, I shall retire and love and serve my way into old-age. I am a volunteer and a natural realist.

I am predominantly vegetarian. Meaning this is my day-to-day diet, but it's not a haft-to. On special occassions, I try a little meat. Usually fish. My partner is hard-core vegetarian. Any children and guests staying with us are welcome to enjoy their own diets; I try to please.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host guests with a group called Mennonite Hospitality. I grew up that way, so I enjoyed having people stay. I especially liked having families with children come through.

The new site layout has completely thrown away messaging, so I can only suggest you Email me directly pilat_family@yahoo.com. Your request may be days old before CS gets it to me and I may or may not be able to respond on here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed in so many places. I rode my motorcycle cross-country from Monterey, CA to Columbia, SC. I never had a bad cs experience, and I recommend this site for everyone who enjoys meeting people and seeing the local connections in new cities. I started cs hosting in 2010!

Interests

I like running, riding my honda shadow, hiking, beaches, mountains, and travelling by bus, music, meditation, comparing religions and philosophies...

Music, Movies, and Books

The Inheritance by Louisa May Alcott
Books on Religion and spiritual growth and biographies of survivors.
movies that are funny and silly and romantic. I like House of Payne.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in Hurrican Floyd relief work, tsunami relief work as well as Katrina relief work. I like living simply and saving money, so you have the funds to do whatever needs to be done.

Teach, Learn, Share

Adapt. Be the guest whom others want to return and the host that other want to return to. Even if it seems odd, learn from it. Participate even if you don't have time, and try to find the positive aspect of everything.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Mexico, Myanmar
