About Me

I am curious,
friendly,
intuitive,
and vegetarian.

I practice life and am getting better and better at it every day.

As a traveller I am independent and love to explore on my own, but I also enjoy spending time with locals and to experience "their" place. If you're my host I would love it if we have tea/cook/eat together and visit one or two of your favourite places. CS is great because it's personal - so I'd love to get to know you and see the place you live through your eyes!

As a host I am generous and relaxed. I'll happily show you around if I have time, and I'll definitely try my best to make your stay a memorable experience :) I prefer hosting people that I genuinely want to meet and who seem to want to meet me too. CouchSurfing is so much more than finding a place to crash for free - it's a way to connect with and learn from people! If you who are reading this are just on CS to find somewhere to sleep for free then please think again: most people who are on here are interested in meeting people and experiencing a place while staying with a "local". So please do give it a try, but do so with a curiousity and respect for the person you stay with. CS is a community of people wanting to meet people, not a free Air B'n'B. So if you would like to write me a couch request, then please: a) show me that you have actually taken the time to read my profile and b) tell me a little about why you would like to stay with me. This increases the chances that your stay will be a good one! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is the best way to travel, I think. It's a great way to connect with the place I'm visiting through meeting locals, and sometimes these encounters result in new friends. CS connects people across borders, cultures and backgrounds - it has, and continues to, broaden my horizon. It has also taught me to trust in other people, and to be generous, kind and open.

Interests

I practice yoga, dance lindy hop, meditate, collect postcards, cook without recipes, and drink litres of tea. I'm a sucker for anything science.

I love to spend time with good friends, swim, go hiking, read books, take photos, listen to podcasts and to pick up new languages.

I also sing out loud in public (sometimes).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading - it's my favourite way of escaping into another world, so to speak. These are some of the books I've enjoyed over the years: "Love in the time of cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez, "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi, "In Xanadu" by William Dalrymple, "Harry Potter" (all of them) by J. K. Rowling, "Brick Lane" by Monica Ali, "Min kamp" ("My struggle") by Karl Ove Knausgård, "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel and "Alberte" by Cora Sandel.

I listen to a lot of different music and enjoy going to concerts. Some of my favourite artists are Feist, Susanne Sundfør, Highasakite, Jonas Alaska, Kråkesølv, Robyn, Bon Iver, Billie Holiday and The Beatles.
I also just generally love jazz, particularly the "old school" kind!

I don't tend to watch a lot of movies, but I like going to the cinema. A sample of my favourite movies: "Le Fabuleux Destin d' Amelie Poulain", "Ice Age" (1 & 2), "Volver", "Lost in Translation", "Moonrise Kingdom", "Frances Ha", "The Wind Rises".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Bangladesh for eight months during my gap year before starting university - a life changing experience, for sure.. Bangladesh will always have a very special place in my heart, and Bengali is the most beautiful language I know.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can generally talk about language-related stuff until your ears fall off.. I might also be able to bust a few "brain myths".
Would love to learn more about what interests you as well - one of my favourite things is getting someone to talk about things that fascinate them!

I'll happily share my knowledge on photography.

I practice yoga and mindfulness, and although I'm still a novice in both, but I'll happily share what I know. If you're a little more experienced I'd love to learn from you!

I know a thing or two about life and travelling in India and its neighbouring countries, so if you want to go/are planning a trip to that part of the world, I could give you some hints!

I absolutely love learning new languages, so if you want to teach me a new one or more of the ones I've already started learning, it would make me really happy :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always happy to cook or help out with cooking vegetarian/vegan food. I actually like washing up as well :)

I can also practice English with you, or - if you want to learn a fairly useless language - teach you some Norwegian.

Other than that, I can share my music, podcasts I like, talk about what fascinates me, listen to your stories, and tell you mine ..
