ABOUT ME

For the past ten years, local fixer Trinh Tien Trung has used his extensive knowledge of his home country to connect international audiences and travellers to one of Asia’s most fascinating destinations: Vietnam.

Raised near famed Ha Long Bay and educated in historic Hanoi, two decades of in-depth exploring has made Vietnam’s far-flung locales as familiar to Trung as his own backyard.

In 2002 he graduated from the Hanoi Open University with a degree in Tourism Management. Soon after, he expanded his skills with a certificate in Sustainable Tourism Training from the World University Service of Canada.

He earned his stripes in the travel industry as a tour leader, organizing a myriad of classic and adventure trips to all corners of Vietnam for Hanoi’s top tour operators, including Travel Indochina, Exotissimo and Footprints Vietnam.

In 2006, after emerging from countless excursions into bustling cities, sleepy fishing villages and misty highlands, Trung was as much of an expert on the country’s geographical and natural wonders as he was on its numerous minorities and exceptional cuisine.

With Vietnam enjoying enthusiastic interest from tourists and the global community, Trung signed on to assist foreign production crews pioneering their first-ever episodes set in Vietnam.

He worked as the top organizer on the ground for television shows such as Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape: Vietnam, Samantha Brown’s Vietnam Special and Man vs. Wild - Vietnam. He was also the chosen local fixer for Top Gear’s Vietnam Special -- one of the most lauded programmes to come out of the country in recent years. In 2012, he was interviewed by The Word Magazine for a feature on his experiences in the field.

Today Trung is widely regarded as Vietnam’s most professional and sought-after fixer. His unparalleled knowledge of the country and network of crucial contacts are invaluable resources for foreign outfits venturing into Vietnam.

When he is not busy scouting locations, negotiating paperwork or handling logistics, he can be found at his bar, Le Pub, in Ho Chi Minh City.
