First i must apologize, kinda forget writing your reference for quite some time but as i was reading old time couchrequests received, i bumped into yours and it made me realise that something went missing ! so Yeah it was fun going against the principle to have such a cool one night experience. I ll give you lesson of Pool after i am back from my trip. Blue skies from auckland.

Tommy hosted me and my 2flatmates for a whole week. Such a mess! but such a "nice" guy, if this word could be employed to describe Tommy...maybe, just "Tommy" could become an adjective to qualify him!, you got to try by yourself and see that electric phenomenon, without common sense! He's now our friend here in Leiden!

Thomas spent in Berlin a crazy weekend. He lost his wallet and found a never-ending hole in his trousers, which was not helping with the cold outside. I host him in a very... let’s say... complicate night for me and I was really happy to have his company and enjoy with his conversation. Thomas is a very nice boy, easy to laugh with, crazy and sane at the same time ;) and with no doubts, whatever question you have about hitchhiking, he is your man! ;)

 

If by weird experiments you mean exposed him to my cooking, which is at it's worst, seriously doubtful and at it's best not too detrimental to your health, then yes.

I think what Mr. Quist is trying to say in a perfectly sane and not at all reminiscent of a rabid guy with unfortunate access to chainsaws-way is that I am awesome and that he is awesome by extension as we get along so well.

If I were blind I would've thought I hosted five different people just because of his shifting accents and his fundamental inability of being quiet and still for any measurable period of time. Also, he's perfectly inexhaustible in sheer energy (and lyrics to songs for every occasion) output.

tommy is a great guy who saved me from sleeping under the bridge (thanks again by the way), told me funny stories, has a better cologne accent than me (and i´m from germany), organized me a bike, showed me a great bar and so on. hope to see you in some days, mh?

Tommy and I met during a couchsurfing weekend in Arnhem. First, I thought he was a bit loud (coming from me that says a lot, believe me;-)). Then I realized that not only is he really entertaining, but he is also intelligent and nice to talk to. He seems to know what he wants, that is always good! Hope to see him around more often between all the traveling. Great guy!

 

I couldn't sleep the last night of the Budapest Winter Camp (silly), I went for a walk and was stopped with the view of this similar guy sitting with a blue guitar. I asked him to play. But he told me no, I know just one song, long and boring. Then he opened his personal music drama theater for whole night to play something thrilling about his living and travelling in cooperation with some other couchsurfers. Thanks to your brilliant improvisations I can feel now what is to be the Dutch in Ukraine where everything is in Cyrillic alphabet, even the numbers...%)

When hosting tommy you expect "things" to happen. but what things always remains to be seen.besides hiding things in his * he is really a nice guy whom likes pancakes and takes on every opportunity to get humped. however, its hard to find people that are as great and openminded

 

Tommy is one of the craziest, funniest, awe-inspiring, godlike Homo sapiens that I have ever had the pleasure and misfortune of knowing. Once you go Tommy, you can never go back to well-adjusted-land (boy, have I tried to…). The worst thing is that I have only known him for a few months and therefore I can rest assure (aka – lay awake at night dreading) that 2010 will be a year of awesome destruction and surround sound loudness.

Tommy was a great host. Despite going to the CS Meeting in Rotterdam for the weekend, he still allowed me to surf his couch. He's funny and speaks English very well. One of his roommates also helped me find the university I needed to go in the morning. Hopefully we'll meet up again someday in our travels... maybe if I move to Leiden!

I really liked Tommy, he's always thinking outside the box; he constantly entertains others singing and joking.
He's the master of words (he will be a famous writer / scenarist some day). He is diplomatic and has fine manners but occasionally he's tempted to climb trees.
I admire so much his dedication to the CouchSurfing project. A tip: if you give him few beers he turns into a Dance God ;). Thank you for the kayak trip and see you soon!

After meeting Tommy at a CS meeting in Rotterdam in Oct 2009, he decided to stop by here feb 2010.
I hosted Tommy 4 days and was able to teach him some basic survival training for living in Norway in a cold and snowy winter:)) Walking in snow has now given him a new meaning:P
Describing Tommy in a few words... Hmmm.. Give a kid the ability to speak many languages and have a huge vocabulary(favorite sayings are "Fair enough" and "awesome")then ad a extreme, close to madly insane sense of humor... and yeah then you have Tommy!!! Oooohh..let's not forget the Norwegian part.. He is a Norway fan numero uno, being among the very few...if not the only person living on this planet speaking fluently Norwegian without an accent...and NEVER has lived here. Also kinda funny to see someone using "quotes" from movies in the same way as my son... no wonder why you bonded so well:P The session of playing "Brutal legend" kinda reminded me about Wayne and Garth:)) "Dude"!!!!

Well Tommy is an interesting Norway-loving guy from Netherlands. He is the only one that i saw holding a foreign flag with his toes :p. I'm sorry that we couldn't make it to the human-bowling-event to see you live but it was realy nice meeting you :-) Take care Tommy.

 

After hosting Tommy I know he is a kid with many talents. To mention a few:

1. He is one great norwegian (okay, not really, ut he could go for a norwegian if he wanted to).

Tommy is crazy! He showed me and my girlfriend an absolutely outstanding hospitality, sharing is tiny place with far more people than anyone else would have been able to fit in... when he's around, you always feel like cherishing being a CouchSurfer. I had a great time with him and the other travellers, hopefully I will be able to return his hospitality soon, in Iceland or elsewhere.

My friend Jules and I had a great time with Tommy and the three other CS-ers he was hosting at the time. He has seemingly boundless energy and even accompanied/guided/pitied us on the next leg of our bicycle tour (sorry we were so slow!).

Tommy is a crazy person. A complete mad man. BUT...it's all part of his charm. I had a lot of fun surfing at his place. He took me and my friends out around Leiden and gave us great advice about the traveling we were doing in Amsterdam. Strong and fun-loving personality. Still crazy, though!

 

Tommy! When he is sober he's like the crazyfunny drunk version of my friend Mikael, and when he's drunk.. oh my, I don't want to know. In other words, Tommy is the prefect American fake Norwegian Dutch fool. I wish I had a stash of those pills he must be on for days that feel particularly grey, that's how much I advise you to meet this well-mannered madman.

About Tommy? Well... I guess a lot in a small period of time: we met on a language exchange community and later in Paris, we hitchhiked together and he hosted me for a couple of nights during Midsummernight. And not forgetting the weird truck ride, the parties and the looong trips on the night trains...

first met him in berlin beach camp and fell in love with his tie, then hosted him a night in paris to hitchike the day after that to netherlands where he hosted me.. Couldn't steal his tie and forgot my harry potter in latin at his, but still it was worth it, just for the buffoon role in utrecht I guess.. or for the beer in crazy cow.. or for all the fun we had trying to hitchike from paris... or just because he's this great guy, which you can tell just by looking at his tie of course..

If you haven't met Tommy yet, you should change it immediately. He's fun, bold, but also sensitive. You can count on him both if you want entertainment and if you need serious talk about meaning of life and support in times of tribulation [I had to use dictionary a lot to write about you ;)].
P.S. Tommy, you have one imperfection - you should definitively buy nowe buty! ;)

Tommy was a great host for my first CS experience! He's very friendly (and reserved - haha), he showed us around Leiden and he just loves CS (for him it's just a way of life). Late at night he watches very strange Japanese cartoons in his extremely fashionable pyjama's :)

Crazy, cute, "understands binaries kind of guy" with a lot of energy (if you see him more than 5 minutes in one place, something's wrong). We played games together, cleaned a kitchen together :) and enjoyed a super CS event in Utrecht. To many more...

Found him sitting on the grass, playing guitar @ BBC. Since that day, we explored Berlin, cooked & partied together the whole week! It felt like I had met an old friend of mine. He´s definitely a person, who will entertain you wherever you are, but also the one you can talk to.

Tommy, you came out of "nowere", chose kitchen instead of regular bed and rescued me from being overtalked in Heaven, something about 5 a.m. Thanks for sharing your minds and convinced me even more to cs idea! See ya in another life, dude!

Tommy spent two nights at my place! I think, that we made good team together durnig the party:) He is really sociable, so from the very beginning we got on well! I won't forget the way he bought the flowers at Wroclaw market square and the florist won't forget it, too;) If u wanna learn how to taste cherry vodka shoots and use british accent you got to the right address;) I have strange feeling that we'll meet in the future! Tommy , the hiking Dutchman! I hosted Tommy for a few days and he really surprised me to go up and hike up almost all the mountains the nearby mountains during his short stay in Bergen. Tommy is a great guy who had his work cut out for him when he left :)

Tommy is very outgoing and enthusiastic. He's a dedicated CS-er, and loves to meet new people - he welcomed us to his home country and to the Leiden community. It was fun to bump into him at CS events around Europe too!

Oh Tommy, what a character! This boy has a talent for picking up accents and languages that is enviable. He is fantastic fun and brings life, fun and smiles to all meetings. Don't take him too seriously and play along with his games and you'll be guaranteed to have fun. Tommy is lively and has a lot of energy and I can only assume he'd be a hilarious host who could entertain you with all of his stories (even if they aren't true).

Tommy is sooooooo crazy but also very very sweet! He showed us Leiden, took us to a very nice WOK place, a really cool bar and hosted us at his place. We just have to laugh around him. He is always happy and energetic, the good attitude spreads all over the group. I also loved how he could do all the accents, really an awesome guy.

Yes, he's funny in a shameless way, and I really like it, but there's more in him. He's very smart, speaks perfect English and understands quite a lot about life. :)

Tommy is graet guy. He laughts all the time, he has that rare skill that he can make fun from everything and everywhere. That is my man:) his mattresses are really comfortable, although he live in a small room everybody felt comfortrable. He knows Leiden pretty much, so if U want know sth about leiden's night life and student life he is a person U can ask. Cheers!!

Tommy was on his way to Luxembourg when he asked me for a couch. It all worked fine and I was happy to host him.

First time I met Tommy he was not Tommy but Lord James T. Burke. Second time I met him he was hanggroepjongere, and the third time he was Schwip-Schwap. So I never met the real Tommy yet, but I can still say that he has a lot of energy, and is really funny. Even more funny in German.

On his absolutely crazy bicycle trip from Leiden to Antwerp at temperatures of 10 degrees below zero, Tommy asked me for a couch. He arrived with almost frozen feet. How can I describe Tommy? Tommy is a very talkative, humorous and friendly person with a lot of couchsurf experience. He told me a lot about his couchsurf adventures.
I showed him Roosendaal by night and we visited my favorite pub “de Heksenketel” and enjoyed the live music.
Tommy continued his bicycle trip the next morning when the temperature in Roosendaal was 14 degrees below zero.

Tommy gave me a last minute place to stay while I was going to be in the Netherlands. Really a nice guy with skills in making tosties(?) and tea, but only if you like earl grey, haha. It was really cold outside, so we just talked for a while, and then played fold-it. If you are a molecular biologist, this game is still really tough. I would recommend this person to anyone, and dont be afraid to bring something from your home country.

Tommy is an unique person, with a whole pile of masks (or characters) that he likes to hides behind. He is quite an acquired taste - being loud, vocal, funny, obnoxious (he knows this! so I'm not offending him!) entertaining, extremely expressive and once you get past the layers, he will grow on you! Just give it plenty of time and patience!!!

 

Tommy is just awesome - besides being absolutely funny and crazy he has a great knowledge on programming languages for Orang-Utans and special High-Five technologies. Even The Who named their Rock Opera after him... there's nothig to add I guess...

Tommy is one of those guys who is only quiet when he sleeps or when you are sleeping! Tommy is super to hang out with always in for some great fun, a talk and a laugh!

Tommy is a great enthousiastic couchsurfer. It's always fun to meet him, although his humor can be a bit strange. And it's probably not save to leave him alone with a coca-cola machine(or any other computer). I recommend meeting him, visiting Leiden and attending a Leiden meeting.

I dont think it is humanly possible to be bored when Tommy is around. He is always a positive addition to any meeting. He is good fun! And i think he actually talks more than me, which is quite impressive!

 

Tommy is great! I don't know how he does it, but he somehow manages to set up the Leiden CS community and at the same time assure that all the events in Utrecht turn into hugely entertaining parties :)

Had a great time with Tommy in Paris. Our day at the Palace was very cool, not to mention the great dinner we had at Antoine's. Definitely meet Tommy, he's a great guy.

From the point of view of the barbarian girl I am. Surfing at tommy's was a really nice experience. I learnt a lot of "nice" jokes about babies !! and had a great time!

I am "sinking" I may come back what's more because Leiden is also worth veisiting!!

He suddenly appeared in the couchsurfing scene this summer, attending a LOT of meetings. He's definitely a very active couchsurfer. Fun to be around, good to have a laugh with. Oh, and of course, great to get married to ;)

tommy is a really cool guy..we stayed 4 nights in his place...
he showed us how 5 couchsurfers can live together in the same apartment

 

With Tommy there is no dull moment or dull conversation. He can do any accent you like (exept perhaps posh british). Seriously addicted to couch surfing ;-).

I surfed Tommys couch for six days and it was a shitload of fun! Although he keeps on yelling random german things to me, he is a pleasant host. And his idea of the couchsurferwall is cool!

One of his biggest goals is: "Ich möchte eine Welt in der ich aus der Toilette trinken kann ohne Ausschlag zu kriegen". So he also cares for the environment. :D

At first I though he was just plain annoying. Shouting and making fun of everything. But he doesn't take himself too seriously, and once you're used to his style, you can have a lot of fun with him. This guy made me laugh so hard I got tears in my eyes!
Tommy, you're cool. And we'll meet again, I'm sure of it!

Three great days - pity it wasn't longer really - Tommy was a great host, even finding things to occupy me instead of sending me out into the cold rain. Hopefully we'll meet again in another life. Or this one...

 

Tommy is a unique collectors item especially at meetings. He talks and goofs with everybody this makes the meetings way more fun! Its a shame there's is only only three in a bikini I have met so far ;) Enjoy your time with Tommy I know you want it!

 

Tommy is a great guy to know in Utrecht. I tagged along with him and friends at a music festival while I was there and got introduced to lots of great music. I still wonder, though, where he got his Iowa accent.

Tommy is a very great,talktive and crazy person.
We had many talks and discussed many things between Euro and Asia cultures.
I realy had a wonderful visit in Leiden.If you want to visit Netherland,
to visit Leiden and Tommy is also a very good choice.

Tommy is a hilarish guy!
I don't think I have ever met anyone who made me laugh soooo hard. He does funny immitations and voices.
He is really a good guy!He even painted a bike for me once!how sweet is that!

 

Tommy - the man is legend. His tolerance for hijinks - enormous. It's probably kind to say that as guests we were 'interesting' but Tommy was a stirling host, touristing with us, hooking us up with sometimes dubious advice, I guess making up for our inadequecies in general in the surfing department. And he eats Dutch poison and has Dutch stairs! He's pretty much
Dutch! What more could you ask for?

Tommy is such a friendly and intelligent guy; i really felt like he was true and wanted to help people. Definately glad i made his acquaintance.. and he even came to meet me in a suit!

Tommy's cool. He answerd our short notice request, even though he was hosting a couple of people already and didn't have enough space for the three of us, and asked his friend tho host us instead.
Also, he looked after us for the few hours we had to wait for his friend, which was real friendly.

Tommy is one crazy person! I had a great laugh when talking about beunotarians and practising 'Dutch streetlanguage' with him. He has lots of energy and loves the sweet 'lady' drinks... I'd say surf his couch!

I met Tommy on a tuesday meeting in Rotterdam. He has a distinct sense of humor: don't turn into disgusting street 'cause he takes you further than you want to go... Tommy is very social and lots of fun, never a dull moment with this guy. See ya next Tuesday!

Tommmmmmmmmy! What to say... The man is a legend, he picked us up from the train station at 2am on a rainy morning after we woke him up with our misjudged trip from Munich, he showed us around welcomed us with his easy going and friendly manner and laughed at us when we were far too stoned! I really enjoyed staying with him but watch out for the Dutch stairs! lovely person, wish you all the best mate and if you ever want your welcome where ever I am, Me and my baby crabs! :)

 

It was great to meet Tommy. Great to have a chat, and laugh with over beers. His delivery of the Wearwolf game is so enthusiastic, it is hard not to have a good time. Do not make the mistake and say he is from Scheidam. Defnitely worth meeting up with. We should grab a beer soon.

 

Tommy seems to me like a person who's very active in organizing/attending things on CS. A guy who's very obviously present, and who is there for you when you need him. Hi5!

Wow, this guy made quite an impression straight away. I had been away (travelling) for about a month and when I came back Tommy was one of the people that recently started to visit the weekly meetings. He came in later than I did, but entered the bar with a lot of enthousiasm and I was like.... WHO IS THAT? Well it became clear pretty quickly and now he's got this reference. See you around man ;)

I'd sleeped with my friend for one night. In the morning we'd aten a delicious cheese!

We encountered each other at the midsummernight event at Utrecht. We had some short but interesting chats. I was amazed by the way he can imitate all the English dialects. I first thought he was Canadian, then Irish, Australian, Scottish... but it turned out he was a plain Dutchman :-). Hope to meet him again soon (why not in Antwerp ?).

 

Tommy is one of the most enthusiastic couchsurfers I know. Always with lots of stories, most times about Norway, the country he loves. I hope he will find his way to that beautiful land.

He told a really weird story about a old lady putting her tong in his ear, but besides of that it is a interesting guy, fun and nice to meet!

Nice guy, we meet frequently at one of Roffas many bars, drinking a wide variety of beers, only thing that is constant is his urge to make an extreme amount of extremely bad word jokes... Keep up the good work! ;)

Tommy.. a really fun guy! It's impossible to have a dull moment around this guy. He will make you laugh non- stop, has great stories, and makes you feel like you have been friends with him forever. Not to be missed if you happen by Leiden.

After hunting treasures on the streets of Utrecht, after chilling on a couch in the park listening to his American, British, Norvegian and Russian accent :), after spending hours talking about his life conceptions and after dragging him in a sports bar to see his second football match ever, after all this, I can say Tommy is a great company and a person who knows how to make his way in any situation, with any type of persons. Meet him, gain his "humour trust" and the rest will come...

Hmmm, there seems to be a trend emerging here. Laughs, jokes (good/bad), enthusiasm, talkative, fun. All very true! Never a dull moment! This guy is very easy going, not shy, but also respectful and decent. We had an enjoyable wander round Maastricht while poor Mia studied and prepared to move house. Good times!

Beware! Slightly defected robot is running amok on the grounds of the insane asylum! I would not trust him with ducttape but other than that a very nice guy.

 

After the midsummermeeting he showed up quite often and also made my happy offline by promoting Utrecht on every thinkable group. It is good to have a big Utrecht-fan in Leiden (which is by the way also a very nice city), especially when it is a really cool and funny guy.

Tommy is very talkative and enthousiastic person.
I hosted him, but we did not have a great start, because I was tired of my very busy week. Maybe we can do it again sometime when I have more energy ;-)

With Tommy you can always have a laugh. Crazy person with lots of energy.

Intelligent, easy going and always in for a good or a bad joke. Even though he's not living in Rotterdam he still visits some meetings upthere and that's really nice cos this guy is always in for an interesting conversation!

 

Tommy is a crazy, fun and energetic creature.
The best thing about staying at Tommy's is he is definitely entertaining!
He is also very kind, welcoming, open and social, but with a well-expected dark sense of humor which fits the rest of his personality.
He puts in a lot effort to help you out, and is a very dedicated member of CouchSurfing.

He is very funny guy to hang out with. And I'm always welcome at his place, everytime. He's a very good host.

Tommy is kinda crazy in a funny way and can talk Norwegian and Swedish well although he is Dutch! His humor is 1 km under the table and hilarious! :)

hmm he is even weirder than me soo yeah respect =p he is always hitting me with a newspaper and makes jokes bout me though i have never got offence cos of it=pppp really positive person.....

Tommy showed me a few cool places in Leiden, we had some good laughs and he introduced me to some nice people.

To bad I couldn't go out at night with him and his friends because I was following courses at Leiden University over the weekend.

he is a very nice gay!! I met him in Leiden, at "De burch", and we had a really good time talking about books, relationships, Barcelona, Netherlands...it was nice!!

He's like a Great Danish dog... lot's of bark, no bite, clears the table wih his tail and worst case scenario: he'll lick you to death.
Definitely worth hanging out with...

 

Wow! It's really good to see this guy here at CS 'cause i think he's got the real CS spirit! :) I met him at highschool, he is really energetic, enthousiast and open minded. Meet him!

Although he doesn't drink, he is quite funny. He says he doesn't drink because he has to take care of his brain, but in reality this is because he is a Russian spy. He pretends to be Dutch and tries to confuse the enemy with his Norwegian smile, but I know his real name is Boris.
