Couch Information
Couch Available: Yes Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 4
Shared Sleeping Surface: Depends Shared Room: DependsWe have an attic room for guests. where there is a sofabed and matrasses. If you are more surfers you would have to share the room, otherwise you have some privacy.
NOTE:
If you want to send me a CS request, these are things I like in a CS request:
- A personal request (not just can you host us from then to then)
- An indication you read my profile (I live in Utrecht, not Amsterdam!)
- Some information about you, and others (at least a link to the CS profile of them).
- Travel details (why Utrecht)
- Please also check our Google Calender, to see if it is possible to host you.
- CSers who travel in sustainable ways are extra welcome at our place.
- Remember when you request a couch that you get US with the COUCH, meaning that we would like to get to know you and spend time with you!
Me and Jasper (http://www.couchsurfing.com/people/kilgoretrout, yes he is also on CS!)live in a "bovenwoning", an upperliving. This basically means you have to clime dutch stairs to get properly into our house. We can give couch surfers some privacy, in the attic (more stairs you will have carry your luggage up too :-P).
Our house is pretty close to the trainstation and just next to the multicultural neighbourhood, Lombok. It has a variety of great food and multicultural bussyness!
We are pretty busy with work on weekdays, most of my free time is limited to weekends. When we host we like to spend time with our surfers, get to know them a little bit, and show you the nice places of Utrecht. Exchanging cultures, and food if possible ;-). Its good to remember you get US with the COUCH.
We are active couchsurfers and go to meetings pretty often. When you surf with us there is a prety good chance that there will be a couch surf meeting that we will go to, or just meet up with friends who are couch surfers.
We have a tabby cat, Mees. She is cute but a bit shy to new people, so you might not see much of her at first ;-). She is very good one on one, but when there are more people she doesn't know where her attention should go to.
I don't smoke and Jasper doesn´t either, you can smoke ............. outside. We also don´t drink coffee. We have it for quests who would want it, but we have no idea how to make good coffee, just to warn you ;-)
If you are interested in surfing with us please check our calender to see if we are free.

Some sights of Utrecht I recommend:
Take your time to explore the old city centre, with the warves, old historical buildings and churches.
The DOM tower, highest church tower in the Netherlands and gives you a great view of Utrecht and the unique warfes at the canals.
Kafe België (Cafe Belgium in English). A relaxed cafe with an amazing selection of beers. There are over 20 beers from the tap and over 200 hundred bottled beers.
For dinner I recommend to go to the Oude Muntkelder Pancakehouse. Well every country has pancakes, but we have our own special way. The nice thing about this place is that it is on the warves, at the waterlevel. Typical Dutch and Utrecht.
Then to go out, go either to SJU Jazz Podium or EKKO. SJU has the best friday nights and EKKO has the best saturday nights.
Besides these recommendations there are always festivals and cultural events happening in Utrecht, so you won´t get bored here.
Every month CS people in Utrecht get together at a CS meeting. Check the meetings if your in the neighbourhood when there is a meeting!

Personal DescriptionHalf Dutch, Half Swedish, Curious, Enthousiastic, Helpfull, Creative, maybe a bit 'prettig gestoord', always ready to go crazy (in a good way). Oh and i like purple. Just so you know.
Aim to make the world a little better where I can... one person at a time! How I Participate in CSMe and my boyfriend have teamed up to host people who want to visit the city of Utrecht. I am also active on Hospitality Club with the same nickname.
 Create your own visitor map!
CouchSurfing ExperienceI have both hosted and surfed couches around Europe and Asia, both via CS and HC.
I organise CS meetings in Utrecht, where I meet the other Utrecht CSers. Now that CS Utrecht has grown so much its nice to stay in touch. I am CS Ambassador in Utrecht and i wanted to put Utrecht further on the CS map, because it is a great city! As an ambassador I am visible as an experienced member who knows how CS works and help others get good experience on CS :-).
Midsummernight (2008-2011) has put Utrecht on the CS map a little bit more. It is great to experience and organise it with my Utrecht CS friends.
Utrecht is now a very nice and active CS city, where people organise their own meetings. There is the regular monthly meeting the last friday of the month in Averechts. Running now since 2007! And around that Utrecht CSers organise their own great meetings, from dinner meetings to murder mystery meetings to games meetings.
I love the idea of Couch Surfing. It alows you to see a country in a much better and real way than if you are just a tourist. You can get into the culture, get to know the real people and they can show you the nice places to go to.
When hosting someone you get the feeling of traveling yourself, and you are the guide and can show your guest the best parts of your city.
So far I made some great friends while surfing. Couchsurfing is a way to make your world a little smaller...or bigger which ever way you look at it. Kindred spirits find each other on CS! InterestsSweden
To really learn the Swedish language i was an EVS volunteer in Växjö, Sweden. Sweden is a big passion of mine. Still need to go to the north of Sweden in summer though, on my wishlist.
Counselling and Coaching
This a side of me I want to develop more and I am following a program in counselling and coaching. So if there is something you want to work on, but can´t seem to get started on your own, perhaps I can help! Feel free to contact me!
VIA
Beside voluntering for CS I voluntered for VIA (http://www.stichtingvia.nl), the Dutch branch of SCI (www.sciint.org) for a long time.
Photography
I'm not that good or experienced at it but I love capturing great moments on camera. You learn to look at the world differently, enjoy great moments (and then if possible put it in a picture). I like to do portraits more, capturing the people in their environment, not posed or staged.
In General
The best times I have just socialising with my friends, play board games, going out, to a concert, partying or just hanging out.
PhilosophyListen
When I ask you to listen to me and you start giving advice,
you have not done what I asked.
When I ask you to listen to me and you begin to tell me why
I shouldn’t feel that way, you are trampling on my feelings.
When I ask you listen to me and you feel you have to do
something to solve my problems, you have failed me,
strange
as that may seem.
So please, just listen and hear me. And if you want to talk,
Wait a few minutes for your turn and I promise I’ll listen to you.
Leo BuscagliaMusic, Movies, BooksI am one of the biggest fans of my boyfriends Ska band Stampede, check them out: www.stampedeska.nl. Other than that I like music that makes me feel good inside and makes me want to dance and sing. Fill in the blanks yourself.
As for movies, this varies a little, for my femine side i have the pride and prejudice miniseries. For my intellectual side I like movies that keep you thinking, even when the movie is finished. For example The Butterfly effect (directors cut), inception, Batman the dark knight.
Movies tips: Little Miss Sunshine, Labyrinth of the Faun, Harry Potter series
Books: Last book i really liked was . Nice story with a supernatural twist. I can also recommend: Books by Scarlett Thomas (Pop Co, the end of mr Y), Cecelia Ahern (P.S. I Love you, a place called here, Thanks for the memories) and "the time travellers wife" by Audrey Niffenegger
Of and I am a big fan of Simon's Cat!Types of People I enjoyAll kinds, all cultures. I just love to break the prejudices by meeting the individual people of the countries, which makes you see that they are almost always not true.Teach, Learn, ShareI want to share my counselling and coaching skills, I also need to develop them, so it is a win win situation. One Amazing Thing I've Seen or DoneOne holiday me and my boyfriend missed the bus from Poland, while i had to be back in the Netherland the next day. With a little help from my friends we bribed a conductor into the nighttrain to Brussels. We even had Couchettes!Opinion on the CouchSurfing.org ProjectBe carefull, it can take over your life ;-)!Locations TraveledTRAVELED: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey LIVED: Netherlands, Sweden WANTS TO GO: Croatia
What do these numbers mean?
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you. References (238)236Positive 2Neutral 0Negative

From CETH Vienna, Austria Nov 28, 2011 Positive Too bad i couldn't talk andres in going to utrecht already on Sunday. Just Monday night was way too short to get to know Liza and Jasper and their furry little mistress Mees. ;) Despite this short time i really felt very welcome and will even forgive their wii for making me 10 years older. :P
Hopefully we meet again in Vienna or wherever...
From Niklas Ludvigsson Kiruna, Sweden Nov 18, 2011 Positive My first experience hosting and i was lucky to have liza and jasper, really nice peple, they learn me and tell me a lot of therir experience of couchsurfing. They also cooked great vegetarian food in my kitchen.
From Marc Fortin Granby, Canada Nov 1, 2011 Positive Liza is a wonderful human being. She is the queen of Utrecht couchsurfing community!
From Josh Baker Adelaide, Australia Sep 13, 2011 Positive Liza and Jasper were great hosts for us, very welcoming in their home, we shared food, beer, wine and monty python :-) Very cool couchsurfers with lots of experience and stories to share, thanks guys!!
From Andy Jackson Utrecht, Netherlands Sep 8, 2011 Positive Could not have asked for a nicer, friendlier first couch surfing host :)
From Marcel Brannahl Bremen, Germany Aug 31, 2011 Positive Hey Liza! I reeeeally feel ashamed for taking such a long time to write a reference for you and Jasper! Both of you were so generous and lovely to me and the other guests that stayed with you :) I just hope, Mees doesn't miss one of her new favourite slaves (me) too much -hehe- See you again somewhere sometime!
From Tonis Valing Tallinn, Estonia Jul 22, 2011 Positive Hosting Liza and Jasper were great joy with additional picnic event what we had in old town.Discussing about couchsurfers and people around that made good impression to visit Holland again.See you next time!
From Hazel Hollis Rotterdam, Netherlands Jul 4, 2011 Positive Liza and Jasper are such great hosts! Liza is brimming with energy. They are an incredibly tolerant and open couple.
They welcomed 4 surfers at once, even during the busy organization of the Utrecht Midsummer Weekend. They were even so kind to leave me sleeping when I was very tired, when I should have been at their brunch.
They really took care of all of us, giving us breakfast and arranging bikes for us to get around the city.
What an amazing weekend! Such kind people, I hope to see you both again.
From Marine Duchet Caen, France Jun 30, 2011 Positive I surfed 2 days with my boyfriend Thomas at Liza and Jasper place and it was a really nice time! They are so active on CS! We participated at the after-midsummer evening with them and other CS in Utrecht, eating indian food!
I hope we can meet again to speak properly about how Scandinavia is great :D
From Maya Gulin Rijeka, Croatia Jun 16, 2011 Positive Liza and Jasper are one of the coolest couples I ever met. I loved their hippie style / way of living (they invited even unknown people to games night in their house - everybody is welcome and accepted). They were great hosts - cooked for us, gave us clean sheets, private room (the coolest CS room), and even a quiz with which we went to town and learned a bit of the history of Utrecht - the best idea so far for couchsurfers - I have to steal it... they took us to some alternative club which was a great surprise cuz the DJ played some Balkan music - that was a blast! I loved staying with them - now I know what it means when somebody is a CS ambassador
