Olivier Van Puyvelde

We met at Pier 6 Hong Kong ferry terminal and got lost in the surrounding islands together which gave me a chance to get to know him better. On the next day we met again for sightseeing and I was struck by his great sense of humour and his charm. We soon fell in love and we have been very close ever since. He is my Belgian Prince Charming and I love him so much!

Olivier was so nice to invite me to his friend's house that is so near to mine for a movie night. He's a true movie enthusiast and has a lot of enlightening reviews of international films. Good luck in setting up a restaurant in the Phillippines and regards to your girl! See ya there maybe... :)

Oliver is great guy that knows a lot of great movies. His movies collection are superb. We met at 3rd CS film Club gathering. It was the only time when all of the 3 moderators were present(me, Leeping, Oliver). We had talked a lot about movies and we had watched a Serbian movie from my collection which has been searched by Oliver for almost 1 year. Hope to see you again in near future.

Olivier impressed me by the number of places he has been to in the Philippines. He travelled to several parts of my country that I haven't been to. I hope he would still be in Belium if ever i come to visit the country. Or maybe he can tour me to Palawan in the Philippines because that's his favorite place.

OOpss,why he stay so long?? It is not because of us..he steal my galfriend! hahaha He is a chill, relax, mellow guy really different from his friend Rolf. They have one common are both tried very hard to finish my cookies...hahaha :D This fellow still in HK but where is he? I really don't know and he hang out with my beautiful friend more than us..hehehe We are happy for him to find his love from us and he better keep his promise to treat my friend good and we are the 1st one to know and invite to his wedding!!

 

The happiness is a communicative feeling.

We tried to buy (whaou..) and cook together western food in the middle of nowhere in Sichuan. Unforgettable..

Based on my snap judgment, I think we'll get along pretty well. We seemed to share some common interests specially in Metal Music. He gave me a list of good Metal Bands to listen to, and I'm looking forward to go to some of the great Metal festivals in Europe. I like his ideas in life. He's very open-minded and definitely an adventurer. Enjoy Philippines!

I met Oliver through Nabil, a fellow couch surfer and roommate at Wat Phnom with my kids from the orphanage. He was very helpful that day and then went on to help out in a big way up in a remote village in Kratie Province. I am really impressed with his efforts and how well he got on considering he was new to this country. I would highly recommend you get to know Oliver, he is easy going, kind and fun to be around.

Olivier, I think now you became a King and Mathilda is a Queen of the village, where ever you go always got at least 5-10 followers ( children in the village follow Olivier&Mathilda).

Olivier fell in love with Koh Tbeng Village, Kratie Province-Cambodia. He is helping people in Koh Tbeng Village to reduce poverty.

He is kind and has a great heart and has done so much for people in Koh Tbeng Village in Kratie Province-Cambodia such as: helped a family to build new house, hired an English teacher to teach children in the village, bought the children new clothes, bought 2 bicycles for 2 ladies for them selling vegetable and brought 2 sick children to Phnom Penh for medical treatment. Olivier, i am very appreciated to what you did in Koh Tbeng Village.

I am very lucky! I get to meet some of the nicest people on earth and Oliver is one of them. Met him (and Sven) at Phnom Penh and we shared stories, food and a generally great time.

Oliver is a very experienced and relaxed traveler - who takes the time to enjoy the destination that he is at.

In addition, he has a very kind and caring heart and he proved this when he brought 2 sick children (and their mothers) from a village in Kratie province to Phnom Penh and got them medical treatment. In addition, he is implementing some Poverty Eradication programs in that village.


I hope our paths will cross in the future (maybe Mongolia or Kratie).

I hosted olivier, sven , Luk and Wendy in my home. It was a very great experience to host. I also organized the trek , unfortunately there was some problem from the management prospective.
In spite of the problem in Trek, Olivier and friends gave the feedback how could i improve this problems... and Now .. for sure, i have managed these errors...

To begin with Olivier is a genuinely warm, down-to-earth, sincere soul who is definitely a friend-for-life material to name but a few and a little bit more.And despite being a bona fide traveller,he was really eager to meet new coachsurfer like me and shared his interesting first-hand experience of travelling and his enlightening insights of life. He has great taste in music, love the cd he gave me,and I definitely look forward to go to a concert with him in the future! I'm very lucky to have Olivier as my first CSer meeting in KL. He is a nice & friendly guy and always willing to share his awesome travel experiences to everybody. We have many great time together; talking about our favorite films & music, COoL "road trip" tgt, seafood dinner and many more. I've inspired a lot from him and proud to be his friend.

 

Olivier and Sven requested for my couch at the time I was getting ready for my first couch surfing guests who were to arrive a few weeks later. Still nervous and unsure about my readiness to hosting, I was taken by Olivier and Sven confident and willingness to try my inexperience ;) Of course I said yes! As it turned out, Olivier & Sven gave us the best introduction to couch surfing. From the very beginning I felt at ease and able to relax and enjoy their company to the fullest. Yes we were entertained and enlightened by their travel and CS experience stories. Such fun and laughter too, for these two are a hoot. The house of Somsiah and Rezuan will never be the same again.
Olivier and Sven, thank you for sharing your adventures, your thought and your up and down with us. You both showed to us well the spirit of couch surfing. We miss you. Meanwhile, travel save, have a blast, don't break too many hearts and come “home” anytime ;)

First met him at Lotus Ampang n i thought he was a quiet / shy person which was proven wrong the next time i met him again.. Olivier is a funny guy, always with a good comeback n who always liven things up when he's around.. Hope to catch up when u guys return to KL (^o^)/

I am glad that I meet Olivier on his big asian trip. It was fun nite just talking, picture viewing (he good at it)and a few glass of "teh tarik". I am happy that he came to M'sia even it was not in his big travel plan and the great thing is he like Msia and KL :O. I hope that we will meet again and do some trekking. Have fun in Msia O!

Fun! Thats the 1st thing I've noticed about him. Olivier and Sven are both an adventurous CSers. Very honest about his words and he lovessssss to sing :-P

 

Heard a lot about him (only good things) from other CS friends and finally met Olivier during the start of their mammoth trip of the world.. He is extremely polite, had loads of traveling and CSing experience .. Would love to catch up when you guys are in Delhi next.. i met Olivier and his mate Sven in delhi, we were both being hosted. These two guys are great, very very funny. We shared some great times- drinking whiskey, going on a tuk tuk ride with 7 people and havin a massive laugh in a local resturant (at the staff). Really lookin forward to seeing you guys again, hopefully u will make it to oz soon for some more laughs and good times.

Olivier was very fun to hang with. He’s outgoing, friendly, has a great inquisitive mind, keen observer and yes, a very passionate traveller. I am quite addicted to their travelogue (Olivier & Sven's travel blog)and I am sure in the end they will have loads of practical experience to share with fellow travellers. It has been a joy to host him these past few days and I'm sad to see him go. My friends and csers enjoyed his company. We had an absolute blast the night before they departed for Varanasi. I hope to keep in touch with Olivier and Sven.
When I go to Belgium, he will be the first person I look up!

We met Olivier in Delhi in a couchsurfer s house. He have a really good sense of humour and gave us some precious advice. we enjoyed to stay with him.

ganz kurzfristig hat mir oliver ein bett gegeben. wir haben ausgiebig an einem cs-meeting in antwerpen gefeiert und am nächsten tag mussten wir einen tv- abend einlegen:) vielen dank für die tolle gastfreundschaft!!!

Two friends of mine and I went to the hiking activity and cheese and wine get-together organised by Olivier. It was a lovely day and we've talked about possible travelling options in Belgium. Olivier suggested Wallony and volunteered to show us the beautiful countryside there. The trip was great and the monastery is one of the most beautiful places I've visited! But I got to know him more at Jef's place where we made pancakes. Olivier is a very interesting person, spontaneous and easy to get along! I had great time exchanging interesting conversations with him and his cookie friend!

 

Olivier and his friend Linda stayed at our place for a weekend and we had a great time with them. We did a small roadtrip to another city to attend a Couchsurfing meeting. Olivier is trustworthy, outgoing and a very good guest.

 

I am happy that Jef invited us to join CS meeting in Antwerpen. We had lots of fun in hiking and Cheese, Wine party. Especially, We can meet Olivier, a easy-going, travel-lover and nice guide in Belgium. When we were back to Belgium again in the end of our trip. Olivier invited us to discover Numar, Castle, and Monastery in Orval. It's a great trip. I enjoyed pancake party, beers and trip a lot. Look forward to see you guys together in Taiwan. I surfed his couch after the -by him organised- Maanrock-meeting in Mechelen.. what can i say..? he wonderful to hang out with, got, -just like the others- such a funny belgium accent, good sense of humor and nice literature on the shelves ;) thanks for the bed/ ride and wonderful breakfast/lunch :) see you the 13th !

 

He's a good host/organiser of CS-events; with a prominent sense of humor.
Actually he uses humor as a katalysator for good understanding/conversations. I wish I had that gift.
He's also out for a great adventure/journey next month, the road's open..

 

We've met Olivier at our first CS meeting. He has a positive vibe and we immediately felt like we knew each other since a long time. Olivier will start his world trip in Asia just a few weeks before us. I'm sure we'll meet again soon.

Update Nov’08:
We had a great time with Sven and Olivier during the trekking. Oliver is a super social guy and we had heaps of fun during the 20 days we spent together.
Hope to see you and Sven again somewhere in one or another Asian country in the next months.

First time if I saw Olivier I could not talk to him, but second time I had a chance. He is so charming and sweet! I hope, I can see you soon again,Olivier!

 

olivier know what he wants in life. we talked about so many things, but he's going to Asia for sure. i hope he will come back, but if he buys a nice house in thailand, i definitely will visit him :) hope to cya soon bro!

I joined Olivier and Linda for the cheese and wine meeting organised by them and I surfed their couch fro this occasion. Olivier is one of these motivated guys who offer his hospitality for a 20 persons meeting at his place. He takes time to discuss with you and to make you have an excellent CS experience. Oliver, is a very open person and very active organizing CS activities, as the cheese evening. His home is very confortable and you sleep very well.

Olivier is the guy that delivers your positive energy for the day/night, whatever. A very social and approachable man with a sense for good things and a lot of fun to hang out with! Great taste of music as well.

On our trip to Belgium we met Olivier in Gent. And we had a great time together, trying belgium beer and talking about seeing the world, or Asia or Munich ;-)

The first thing you'll learn while being hosted in Gent is: be careful with Antwerp guys, so luckily Olivier is only working there! PUUUH ;-) Otherwise i wouldn't have been introduced to Belgium's national pride #1: the Beer. Olivier is absolute natural, as every couchsurfer is that i got to know during my stay in Gent. Good luck for your trip and if you pass by Stuttgart on your way from India to Nepal, just let me know ;-)

First encounter with Olivier was at his cheese & wine evening somewhere in 2007. I must say i immediately felt at ease even though it wasn't planned that i was going. he specially came to pick me up at my home and it was a nice evening. After that we have met at several other occasions. When you're in for some laughs then Olivier is your guy.

I've met Olivier a few times trough Stijn. I also spent a weekend with him and others during a CS meeting in Orval. He's a crazy guy and a great dancer, sure knows how to party! He's also a good walker, we once walked 25 km. I was exhausted, he wanted to walk the tour again... Or was it for that beer that we got in the end?

Olli is who he is, a genuine nice person who loves the fun part of life but is as wel always open for a good talk, together with a cigarette and some drinks.

I cannot descibe him in any other way than just 'real'. Or at least that is the vibe that he gives. I'm pretty sure that, once you can count Olli as one of your friends, you will have a friend for a lifetime :).

Enjoy your 1 or 2 or more years stay in Asia!

Rolf, Olivier and Stijn organised a spontaneous CS meeting to celebrate their last night in Riga, so we met for a couple of drinks. It was my first time to meet couchsurfers in real life, and I was really amazed how great it was. Olivier is a passionate traveller, real CS spirit and a very nice person to talk to! Wish I had more time to get to know you better!

Olivier was introduced and recommended to meet by Janine, our friend in common. We spent not more than 4 hours together talking, laughing, drinking. It sounds like nothing special, but it was special. I felt like we were members of the same family, friends of first sight. :-) And I hihgly recommend this guy to anybody. He is intelligent, emotional, responsible, good-humoured. Or at least he knows how to make such impression. :-)))

As happens when you have been CouchSurfing for a while, you meet people again, often unexpectedly and in unexpected places. This was the case with Olivier who was welcoming me at my host in Tallinn and we realized we had met in Belgium a year earlier. This time we got to know each other better, and I was happy to see that Olivier is the same passionate couchsurfer and photographer as I am, and in addition an excellent cook. Good luck on your world trip - anyone who has the privilege to host you should feel lucky. I hope I will be able to do so in the near future, too.

very great and cheerful guy! i really liked to listen, how he is planning his near future - it's amazing! we spent really nice time together with him and his friends. I even went to the club, where I would never would go in my life, but ... cause of them it even was advanture for me :)thank you for the great night!!

 

An excellent week-end! Who would have known that a last minute request to host three Belgian guys would turn out to be a perfect CS experience! Olivier and his friends cooked wonderful dinners, enlightened me on the history of their homeland, took some beautiful pictures, but above all provided company and friendship. Thank you for your enthusiasm and energy, Olivier, and good luck with your upcoming big adventure in Asia.

 

Spending time with Oliver is fun by default. He is quick at repartee and has great knowledge in music. We went to a concert and 'dared' to have fun. But we knew our way out by having a 'few' more beers. Unfortunately, the beer was no more beer at 9pm (allready). Besides: I'm really sorry, that the pyjama party did nor work out ;-)

Olivier is a wonderful friend who I already know for many years. He's a warm-hearted and honest person with an amazing sense of humour. Traveling, exploring other cultures and meeting new people are a very important part of his life. He definitely has the true Couchsurfing spirit and organizes a lot of superb meetings. You'll never get bored with him around because he's so full of life. I hope that his journey to Asia will be everything he wishes for and more. Olivier, thank you for being such a lovely, supportive friend and always staying your wonderful self.

He had organised the meeting by him self and it was really a succes. He is very kind, helpfull and easy going. I think we will meet again!

Olivier organized a interesting meeting in Lillo and it began with all fun when we were treated with a nice (lol) shower..Think I became dry around 4 pm..but it was another experience I wouldn't have to miss;). Olivier is a good organisator and though we didn't talk that much I'm sure he's a very great host. Will meet for sure again, as Belgium is very small.

Update: and indeed we met again. Olivier kindly offered me a ride from the station to the meeting as I wasn't by car. The meeting organized by him was just great. The beautiful arboretum of Kalmthout, the hiking on the "Kalmthoutse Heide" with some rain (think Olivier is attracting wet weather;))but..third time, good time maybe? I enjoyed the pancakes and..the waffles;) and made the sum: organizing + rain + good company = Olivier;)..I'm joking. Olivier is for sure someone who will you let know Belgium in all his aspects, with a good knowledge about the wealth of our country. I'm sure that everyone will get along very well with Olivier.

Oliver is a nice guy with a good sense of humour. I felt that he has an open minded and calm personality, which makes you feel really easy to get along with him.

UPDATE: Met Olivier several times now and it's always fun when he's around. He's really generous and has lives for his dreams. Mind the Christmass tree! ;)

 

Olivier put together a great CS meeting in Lillo, I met him as well as a bunch of other great people. We had some nice chats, he introduced me to the delicious croque madame sandwich, and we enjoyed a Duvel beer. Good luck with your future travels! Hope to see you again.

What can I say...the man drinks Duvel beer, the best beer in Belgium :-)) We toured the fortress of Lillo with a BIG group of CS´ers and had a great time. Canada says 'thanks'.

we met in a party in Oslo, we had a great time and soon we found out we will take the same train to bergen! 7 hous ride. Hade great time with them thoughout the long journey and also meet again in bergen in my hosts island. how i hope i could go camping with them! but dont worry, i will arrange my schedule to come to belgium i hope!!!

I have met Olivier and Stijn for a beer in Oslo,after, they went for a sightseing tour around Oslo with the Soumitra Bhattacharya, fra India but living in Oslo for many years.We all end up in my small balcony for a beer and talking about travel experiencies,it was an extremely beautiful evening.
I had met on the previous night on a CS meeting in Oslo 2 wonderful,sweet, kind Norwegians that they came also for a beer and to meet Olivier and Stijn,so in about 2 hours I had at my balcony,3 Norwegians,2 Belgians, 1 Canadian,1 young man fra India and 1 young girl fra Taiwan,it was REALY a night to remember and I enjoyed it so very much,I honestly want to do that more often.I want you,Stijn,Sven and reinhold to comeback for a small Belgium CS meeting at my place:-)
There was so short time and so many things to talk about.THANK YOU very,very,very much for such a perfect evening.

Wow, I registered for the meeting, and before i had time to send out CS-request i got an email offering a couch.. and not only that, he also offered a couch to my guest.
After arriving at the festival he was great company, nice to talk to. And great hearing about his travel plans for his big upcoming trip :)
Then after the festival i had to get back home, and he was too kind to bring me to the trainstation in Breda :)
You have to come to Utrecht for the midsummernight. :)

Also Linda was very nice to talk to, just a shame that we only got to talk for a short time. Of course you are also invited to come to Utrecht :)

Olivier is a very nice person. We met him with others couch surfers at the Mano Mundo festival and he welcomed us with a big smile...he's a very attentive and generous person too. I hope to see you soon in Lille!

 

We met in the ViaVia bar to talk about my recent holiday in Nepal because Olivier is going there later this year. He is a very nice and easy person to talk too

 

Olivier and his girlfriend Linda make it very easy to become familiar with. They gave me the feeling that I already know them since ages from the first moment we met! I hope to spend a bit more time with them one day to share more stories and music tips.Time ran out so quickly!
They are great guests and I really enjoyed their visit. Olivier and Linda are more than welcomed at every time again!

Mainly Olivier joined some events close by and stood at mine.

Olivier was visiting Aachen with some other CS friends the shame weekend I was hosting an international lunch. I was really pleased to welcome them and we got on straight away. After 5 minutes you couldn't have told they were not old friends of mine to hehehe. Really really nice guys, talkative, open-minded and cheerful. I look forward to a great beer-culture weekend with them after my exams :) And you're always welcome!

 

I sitll don't know him so good, but the first impression I have of him is really good.

 

I first met Olivier at the CS Asia meeting in Antwerp. Later we met again to talk about the China leg of Olivier's big Asia trip. I really enjoyed talking to him and I look forward to hearing all about his travelling adventures in Asia.

 

I first met Olivier while we were introduced by our mutual friend Sven.
One month later, as I attended an event in Antwerp, Olivier kindly offered to host me. This was an opportunity for us to share our experiences both with CS and about traveling in general, especially as he is preparing his long trip to Asia. My stay at his place was very positive.
As time goes, I meet Olivier quite regularly as I attend some of his meetings. He is one of those few persons who organize some not-so-usual events as I love them: visits, walks & sightseeings in the nature, ... I am very grateful to him for this diversity that he brings into the CS gatherings. And for sure we will miss him while he travels in Asia!

I met Olivier the first time at the Bruges and Ghent meetings, but we didn't really get to talk. Then I went to a meeting in Brasschaat he organised, where we had a great afternoon relaxing in the sun (too much sun actually :p) at Guy and Inez' place. We had a few interesting talks about couch surfing and travelling... glad to notice that Olivier shares the same interests regarding roadtrips, nature and wildlife. Also, now I've noticed that the Antwerp cs group is pretty active, I'm sure I'll attend more meetings. Will certainly meet again ! Keep up the good work :-)

Olivier is an interesting, knowledgable guy. He's very into promoting Antwerp and will surely share many parts of the city where you'd never think to look. He likes things that are good in the realm of music, beer, and anything else that'd deem a fun party. Can't wait to visit him in Antwerp!

We met at a bar-meeting in Antwerp, had some beers together. Really nice guy. Talked about our travels.

Olivier, we were like known each other for ages even when we just met. He is one of the most friendly people I have ever met, sincere and generous. We have really nice unforgettable experience in Tokyo.
He was a great host during my visit to Belgium, I really appreciate all his effort to plan tremendous exciting meetings, and visits to the great places. He is the real Belgian Ambassador! The most important thing is, we shared really deep conversation, and I am glad to know him better, as a better friend!

It was really impressive seeing Olivier………the man with passion for travelling, photography and meeting new people. I met him in course of the preparation of his Asian adventures! Hope to get to know ya further during Nepali lessons then! ;)

I met Olivier in Dublin, he is a good friend of my flatmate and friend Alessandro. Last year they travelled in Japan together! We hosted Olivier in our coach in Dublin for few days! He is a really nice guy, easygoing and friendly, but i already knew that because my friend Alessandro told me before! We enjoyed Dublin, guinness...and we also went to couchsurfing meeting! This person has great planning skills and great attention to detail, this goes for friendships too. It was cool meeting this person at the time in Japan and even cooler when he was my host on several occasions. His enthusiasm continues to amaze me, especially now that he's announced going to tour asia for about a year starting in september! I met Olivier on several meetings here in Belgium.
He is a warm and social person who allways looks on the brightside of life. He's one big guy full of happynes ! I will sertenley meet him again.

 

I couchesurfed a night with Oliver and during the days I stayed with him he took me to the most beautiful and interesting places in Belgium, to be more specific in Wallony. He is a great guy really commited with the CS Project.

I met Olivier at the weekend "on retreat" with the monks in the Trappist monastery of Orval that he organized. We had an amazing time together in Orval. Olivier is a very relaxed person and always up for another adventure!

Our friend Stijn convinced us to go with him on a cs weekend. There we met Olivier. He is a very funny person, also a great beer taster :)) It wasn't the beer that turned this weekend into an memorable one, it were the people among us. Olivier was one of them. Great person, hope we get to know him better.

I most of all remember Olivier as the guy who joined me in breaking the hit-the-balloon-record ( 69 times!!! )( rules: just one hit per person! The balloon may not hit the ground! )Sounds as a silly game? Well it is but also tells so much about a person: persistive, fun, teamplayer, makes the entertainment himselve ... Olivier is all that and more...

 

It was very nice to meet him. He's such a spontaneous guy and his enthousiast talking about his plans to travel to Asia for a long period, made me want to take my back-pack and start traveling again. I'm sure we will meet again in the future!

I met Olivier a few times now. He's a very sociable and cheerful person with a good sense of humour. Other than that he dares to get off the beaten track, is very adventurous and not afraid of risks.
I hope we can party together many more times!

It was awesome meeting Olivier at the medieval pub meet-up in Antwerp - a fabulous, life-of-the-party guy. (Just don't try and match him Duvel for Duvel - and believe him when he tells you how good, but how strong it is!) Hope to catch up again soon.

Olivier came by as a friend of Sven and in this way I was able to find out what a great guy he is. He's got his own very strong opinions about most things in life, which gives him a very personal character. i hope we will meet more often because I'm sure he's one of these people you really appreciate to have as a friend.

Olivier and the others at my first CS meeting really made me feel at ease right away. He's an outgoing, spontaneous, funny person, I really enjoyed talking about the most various subjects with him. Olivier was my 2nd couchsurfing host and he really made my travel experience in Belgium awesome. Not only did he and Linda provided me breakfast and everything in their apartment in Brasschaat, they also took me (along with Oliviers best friend Rolf) to various cities and towns in Belgium. In a short time of four days we travelled to Antwerp, Gent, Mechelen, Lier, and various cities in Wallony...thanks to Olivier, Linda, and Rolf for taking me around and caring for me during my stay in Belgium. You guys rock!!!

 

I met Olivier at a CS meeting; and he invited me to stay with him. We had a terrific time, and he shares my deep interest in cinema. We watched a lot of movies and discussed them, and I even got to celebrate Christmas (for the first time) with him :)

Olivier has a habit of trying to take your photo when you aren't looking, which resulted in some hilarious pictures! However true to his word, they were emailed to me within 24hrs so I can laugh at them some more. He is a great person to spend time with, very energetic and keen to give his CSer the best experience he can.

What a service, Olivier set up a meeting for a concert in Antwerp, provided me with shelter and even took care of getting me the ticket. He's a cool guy, looking forward to the next concert in Belgium!

We meet up at Annas place. Drinkd some things together and talkd about the same intrest. His idee af kalmness, going to a monestry, or just go walking into nature, even in d'ardennen, i can appreciate. He's a nice, sympathetic person to talk to.

I met Olivier at the birthday party of Rolf. This was at Inez and Guy´s place.
I had a really pleasant night over there. I heard him talking about movies, I think he knows about everything about this subject.
You can get a good laugh with him.
He also enjoys a gless of wine
Like to know him and his friends better.
He seems a caring and happy person who makes the best of everything.

I was incredibly fortunate to have such a good guide and an instanteous friend. I appreciated the conversation, the explanations, and the willingness to walk everywhere. It will be hard to beat the first couch-surfing experience I had with Olivier, Guy, and Inez.

 

He is a great fella. Amazing humor, good beer drinker. I never imagine that I would travel to a country to make a beer tour :). I was delighted. A person always standing there for you, doing his best to make you feel comfortable and pleased. Man, I am sorry for the late reply but I was quite in a hurry here and I thought you deserved a proper reference here, and not just a thanks. We first met amongst some good friends, great bands and beer - at Graspop Metal Meeting. We both share a passion for metal music and have been to several concerts together. I surfed at his place several times and some more are planned. Olivier has quickly become a good friend and that's due to his great personality.

 

One of the most ambitious, big hearted and generous couch surfers that I've ever met. Drove us all around Belgium on 2 hours of sleep and smooth talked our way into the Rochefort Brewery all in French. A terrific example of what is best about couchsurfing. I highly reccomend meeting Olivier.

 

i met olivier again at several meetings and especially on the smashing movie day he organised in his place in brasshaat! when we arrived, there was an endless breakfast buffet waiting for us, i felt immediately welcomed and soon we were watching our first indie movie 'battle royale' with a glass of champagne. blood and guts in style, lol ;) olivier, i can't thank you enough for having this wonderfull taste in movies and for organising the movie day- i'm looking forward to the next one (this time we'll bring breakfast ;) and i would love to beat you at minigolf one day but i know i need a lot of practise. maybe they have minigolf in australia? happy surfing, and see you again soon!

This dude is a star! Picked us up from the airport, hosted us, took us to an ace pub and recommended some great beers! We caught up a few times over the next few days at GMM, and we're both looking forward to meeting him again at some point.

We met Olivier when we went to Brugges this summer - he was there with his friend Alessandro to meet up with our host. Thanks to Olivier we discovered the joy of trappiste beers, and now they are my favourite Belgian beers ever! He is definitely rad.

 

I met Olivier in Bruges through Martine K. He's a genuinely friendly, open-minded, beer-lover Belgian guy. I wish I could see him in Antwerp but my stay there was too short. However, the day I go back to Antwerp I will call him for sure! Beers taste better with him ;-)

Who is Olivier? He's a FANTASTIC person.
I met him my first day in Japan, in Numabe Station in Tokyo. I was walking on the street and when I saw him I thought:
"He's a crazy boy" and "he's like me!"... I spent lot of great time with him. He's very funny, polite and very good friend. I'm very lucky to meet him. Thank you very much Olivier!!

 

Olivier is really into CS and could be considered a CS preacher ;-)
He and his girlfriend were excellent hosts at the CS meeting in Brasschaat. He lives 'just around the corner'. We see each other regularly at a party or just at our place.

We met at the CS meeting in Brussels and he said Ghent was the most beautiful city in Belgium...well I will defintitely try to visit! Would be great by that chance to see you again! He seems to be a really nice hospitable and easy-going person!

Olivier was so nice, that he offered, to show me around in Anwerp. I really had amazing time with him, and his friend, Rolf. I met Olivier at a CS meeting in Brussels .. he was very welcoming and immediately started telling me stories about his CS experiences. He introduced me to his friends Guy & Inez and already invited me for other CS events. He made me feel very welcome and I look forward to running in to him at CS events again !

Met each other at a few previous meetings but never got a chance to talk then finally got to talk at the Brasschaat meeting then he drove me back home to Gent. Seems to be easy going and trustworthy

 

the best friend you can imagine, he's always there when you need him!!! Olivier is a guy whom you can ask everything to. He will always do as much as possible to help you. His enthusiasm is so great that he adds a lot of extra excitement into his and other peoples' lifes. Just like me, Olivier likes the adventure in travelling. After our unforgettable trip to Canada in 2005, we're now planning to go on a roadtrip trough Eastern Europe together in 2008. We have had very good and fun times together and are planning to have lots and lots more in the future ;) If he isn't a friend for life then I don't know who is ;)

I met Olivier at a CouchSurfing gathering. He was kind enough to show my friend around so my friend introduced me to him. He is a very smart, friendly and nice person. We had really good conversations. Hopefully we can see each other again!!

I indeed missed out on Olivier on couple of meetings. Then I found him on CS-Chat at that very moment I just couldn’t resist to talk to him on private and have a good chat before meeting him in person. And damned it was a good chat. The best part is he even took me at Wendy and Brian’s party BUT before that he even presented me with his cool, awesome and funny friends. Inez, Guy and Rolf. After the party we went to his place and watched BABEL which is a very good movie btw. Olivier knows how to pick out a good movie. Oh yeah before I forget, he’s got a huge collection of good movies shame that I couldn’t keep them all in my pocket.:). Oops too much info’s. Honestly I felt so comfortable talking with him, about views of life, movies, CS and a lot of stuff. He’s caring, responsible and laid back person. He’s a keeper people :)

Olivier is an amazing host. He truely embodies the spirit of CS, making us feel really welcome and then showing us around all of Belgium. I had such a amazing time there and learned so much. I loved meeting Oliviers friends and spending time with them all. The bloke stormed not one but two monastries in the few days we stayed with him- an absolute legend!

Every one this guy is COOL! Oliver came to talk to Wendy and I, he made us feel welcomed from the start. He is funny, charming and easy to talk to, even when he was clicking away with his camera. I could see the joy full expressions on every ones faces as they were around him. I'm looking forward to meeting Oliver again for he is fun to hang out with. He came to my Hawaiian luau all dressed up and ready to party, people where so impressed with his fun character that I was overjoyed to have him as a guest! Oliver is our kind of people, and a true fun spirited party person! If it wasnt for Oliver I think things would be allot different. HE IS WHAT COUCHSURFING IS ALL ABOUT!

 

Olivier is the best host you will have...EVER! We emailed him asking for a lift to a meet we were going to and he invited us to stay with him for a few days. In those few days he pretty much showed us the ENTIRE of Belgium! Not only his home but he shared his life with us, and introduced us to lots of his wonderful friends. I had an amazing amazing time in belgium thanks to olivier. hes interesting funny and adventurous, at one point even had us storming a monestry! xD.

Olivier is a couchsurfing addict who's keen to pas on this message to others. He almost forces people to join and to take his road trip to the southern part of Belgium... since he lives nearby it's easy to stop by for a good time.

 

He organised a CS Meeting in his lovely place in Brasschaat, I was very glad I was able to meet him, his lovely girlfriend and all the other Antwerp CS-ers who came by. Olivier was a great host, even if it was just for the afternoon. We met again in Brugge for the meeting and I'm glad he's becoming as addicted as I am and organising many more meetings, that I will try to attend as much as possible!

I met Olivier in the Brugges CS meeting and was immediately taken by his sense of humour and his easy going manner, a true fellow of the trade, He is a very interesting guy and I am looking forward seeing him again.

 

Olivier is so fun! He took us on lots of great trips around Belgium and on his famous roadtrip around wallony. We had some wonderful times, he even blagged us into a trappists brewery and had the best beer :) He's also great to talk to about everything, we all spent 3 hours in a pub talking! My Belgian Santa Claus! Olivier and I are exchanging guests for two months now! He came to spend a few days in Berlin.
What can I say about someone who brings GREAT fancy Belgian chocolate to my house? And a christmas tree for me, carries it all over town, buys decoration and decorates it in my apartment as a surprise? This guy is crazy, generous and fun! He is going to visit me for Berlinale Film Festival in February again, really looking forward to spend some more time with him and his dear friend Rolf. Invite him if you ever can!

Great Place & Great Guy! I stayed with Olivier & Linda for only one night sadly, but had to move on as part of my "World Walk".

Olivier has a great place and is a very welcoming and accommodating guy. I wish I had more time!

This guy rules. We had a real fun time with him. Great stories and overall very positive guy. When you come to Pittsburgh we can recreate all the scenes from "Flashdance" and it will be awesome! It was in 2005 that Olivier arrived in the company, where I work. It was one of those things where a strange stroke of luck introduces you to the right people.

UPDATE: Now we already traveled a few times together, and there were all extremely positive experiences. Olivier likes to travel with different perspectives. It's always a mixture of fun, meet people, good food and adventure. Through all this good experiences, we becamed best friends.

 

Olivier is a couchsurfing addict "pur sang". Although we joined couchsurfing a somewhere in the Stone Age we only just met recently on an afternoon meeting he organised in his hometown. Joined me the same evening on a meeting in Rotterdam, helped my couchsurfers when I was unavailable and took them on a couchsurfing tour through Belgium that makes me jealous ;). Amazing guy!

I met olivier over coffer in tokyo and I visited him for 5 days in Belgium, Antwerpen. We did a lots of sightseeing and he took me to the places where most tourists don't go. He even took me to the night tours. It was really beautiful. And visiting the bakerys were very interesting. I really appreciate that.Thank to him, I could experience a lots of stuff during my stay in Belgium. I won't forget Nello and Patrache chocolats, they were so good.

Wonderful person, gracious host. Spent three nights couchsurfing at Olivier's. During that time he and his girlfriend (also a wonderful person to meet!) made me feel quite at home. He gave me the chance to really see Belgium in a way that I couldn't have as a tourist, and the fact that his country is so beautiful to him is contagious.
