Couch Information
Couch Available: Yes Preferred Gender: Any Max Surfers Per Night: 10
Shared Sleeping Surface: No Shared Room: NoThere are seperate beds available. We have a special room for couchsurfers, it is a nice room with a view on the town canal and the old buildings that are next to it.
In the main street of Dordrecht there is a house, that is next to the main square. The nearest bar is 7 steps away, the nearest terrace just 17 steps away. The central station is a mere 5 minutes walk while the busses stop just behind our house. We are next to the street where famous Dutch Painter Vincent van Gogh used to live. From our balcony that is adjacent to the town canal you can see the "grote kerk" (big church) that played a huge role in dutch (church)history, so you are in the middle of the historical centre and also on the longest shopping street of the Netherlands.
It get's better, 3 friends are living here and happen to be all couchsurfers as well. So if you decide to surf our couch you'll have 3 times as much fun as on a normal couch. Since we are all busy students it can happen that we don't have time to hang out with you for entire time, but most of the times there's at least 1 person at home.
These 3 persons are:

Arnoud den Besten

Jaap-Willem Mol

What we offer:
-Your own room with beds and with all privacy that you want
-We have a spare key that you can use if you want to go somewhere
-All the liberty in the world that you can expect from a couch
-A spare bike
-You can join us for breakfast/lunch/dinner etc
-Loads of humour and great times
-We run a small tourist office in our house. We have dozens of maps, brochures and visited basically all the tourist highlights in the region so we can tell you where to go and what to see if you want to get to know the local highlights, don't always believe what your lonely planet has to say..
What we expect:
-When you come over you are sociable with the 3 of us, not just the one that you sent the request to
-You must be able to entertain yourself too when we are busy. In exchange you'll get all the liberty that you need to go to places
-We are 3 students, so we don't have loads of money. You can stay here for free, but cooking for us or taking some groceries with you is highly appreciated. We don't want to gain money from it, but also can not really afford to lose too much on it
-You have information on your profile and preferrable some references. If you want to stay at our place we would like to know who you are and what to expect in advance.
Remember, couchsurfing is not so nice because you can stay somewhere for free, couchsurfing is so great because it gives you the chance to see and experience how the locals live their lives and what their culture is like. Finally, if you send me a request, please read my profile and show that you have done that by referring to certain things on my profile, the copy/paste messages will not get you any further ;) Friends (104)

-Is tired of filling in this "all about you" boxHow I Participate in CSI participate by helping out the people, who are visiting the Netherlands, as well as possible. There is always a couch available :) Besides this I try to attend the local couch surf meetings and I try to promote and support CS2 as well as possible. Currently I'm also trying to promote the entire project in Dordrecht, getting people more involved and organising meetings. My current goal is to promote Dordrecht as the oldest and nicest city of HollandCouchSurfing ExperienceMeeting people from Iran, Canada, Finland and India during the meetings in Rotterdam is totally awesome! I love to hear people telling about their country and culture, can't get enough of it! I surfed some couches and hosted some surfers and I enjoyed it from the beginning untill the end! This project really is an added value to my life!InterestsTravelling, visiting concerts and festivals, playing volleybal, soccer and squash, watching nice movies, couchsurfing, urban exploring and ofcourse hanging out with nice people, watching family guy, how i met your mother, showing people around in Dordrecht, history, politics, visiting sport events, fitness and runningPhilosophy-Work like you don't need the money

All kinds of music actually. I usually listen to post-hardcore/metalcore (noisy music). But I love "pubmusic" aswell or good old Frank Sinatra. My favourite artist though is without any doubt Johnny Cash. Try to collect as much of his old records as possible, so I guess that basically all music that is filled with emotion can be found in my collection.
Types of People I enjoyI enjoy people who are so kind to please me by visiting dordrecht and my place :)I don't really know people that I don't enjoy being with. Perhaps racists or something like that, but I don't expect them to be on CS2 :)It really doesn't matter where you come from, what age you are, what music you like to listen to etc. I'm sure we'll have a good time. I enjoy it if you show interest in the city where I live and the life that I am living. Likewise I am curious about your stories on your life and your town too ofcourse.Teach, Learn, ShareOfcourse i'd be glad to help you learning your first words in Dutch. If you need some explanation for the dutch public transport system, the political situation, the dutch history, the weird habits we have, and so on, feel free to ask and I'd be happy to tell you about it. I'm interested in politics, filosophy, religion, movies, music and you ofcourse :-)One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done1)Volunteering in a buddhist monastry. What do these numbers mean?
This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.
In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.
When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you. References (93)92Positive 1Neutral 0Negative

Great hoster, nice guy, easygoing person.
Thanks for the hospitality.
From Isabel Leddihn Saint-Etienne, France Nov 11, 2011 Positive Remco received me and my other 5 friends. We didn't share much, but the little hours at he's house and the hospitality of he and he's roommates, made our night/day at Dordrecht a nice time.
:)
Thanks for everything, you're welcome to France, Chile, Brazil, Germany, Spain!
Bonne chance
From Rodolfo Núñez Marseille, France Nov 3, 2011 Positive Remco hosted me and 5 friends during our bicycle trip around Netherlands. I would love to know more about him and his friends, but I’ve arrive very late and we have started our trip very early. As far as I could feel, he’s very kind, he likes to know every culture in the world. They have a very cool CS map in his living, they have travelled a lot and they are very open minded.
I would love to know them more, maybe another time =)
From Klid Saraci San Salvador, El Salvador Aug 7, 2011 Positive Yo mate. It was seriously a great pleasure to have you and Arnoud staying here. And I can't wait to come visit you in Dordrecht. it's a bummer i could not make it to come along to south albania, but i'm hoping you be back, really!
These people are some of the best guests one can hope to host. good company, fun, and willing to learn and curious to learn new things.
good luck and see you in holland.
From Laura Kolijn Leiden, Netherlands Jul 5, 2011 Positive Remco is a very nice and generous guy.
Since I've known him, he's always kind, interested, full of humour and in for a good talk/conversation.
He once cooked for me and a friend when I visited him. He never hosted me for CS but based on my friendship with him, I would say that he is a very trustworthy person and a friendly host.
It's absolutely worth it to meet him, and grab a drink in Dordrecht with him and his friends!
From Julien Gobbi Metz, France Feb 24, 2011 Positive He his a really cool guy and a good poker player (ahaha). we spent a good time in Paris ! Thanks again :)
From Ismael BenTouq Isa Town, Bahrain Jan 22, 2011 Positive I met Remco during my trip around Europe through our mutual CS friend Michaela. He invited me to stay at his where I had possibly the best CS experience and made me love CS even more..I also met his other CS housemates Arnoud and Jaab who were extremely friendly and welcoming.. The guys made me leave with an impression that I was lucky to be hosted by the people who deserve to represent the true Dutch CS community.. big time!!
I will deafinately visit again as I promised!!
P.S. Sorry for the LATE reference!!
From Marco Cuevas-Hewitt Perth, Australia Nov 25, 2010 Positive This reference is going to be easy, because it's people like Remco that make Couchsurfing such an awesome thing to be involved in! Remco, his girlfriend, and all of his housemates were really warm and welcoming :-).. It's such a great little sharehouse that they've set up in Dordrecht. They've even got one room set aside especially for couchsurfers and a world map with stickers on it marking all the places that their former couchsurfers have come from. When I get back to Australia, I want a sharehouse as cool as theirs with lots of couchsurfers passing through too! Good times! Thanks Remco for your exceptional hospitality! :-)
From Wijnand Boon The Hague, Netherlands Sep 20, 2010 Positive I wish I had had more time to exchange thoughts! I met Remco through a mutual friend with whom I had stayed one night and who introduced me to Remco to be able to stay another night in Dordrecht. Although it was really short notice he immediately accepted me as a guest in his house. Warm welcome, great time. Nice housemates also.
Will definitely send postcards to the queen! ;)
From Marta Coppolino Milano, Italy Aug 25, 2010 Positive I met Remco in my house because he's my brother's friend. He's so friendly and easy-going that after just few minutes we were talking as good old friends. He's really into social activities and cares a lot about other people. He's a critical thinker and generally I agree with his point of view. He stayed for one week with us (usually we don't do with any CS because it's quite a long time!), but with him was really different because it was like hosting a good friend. Finally he's really interesting and fun as well and i'm glad to met him!
