Groups I Belong To

Durham
Why: I've lived in Durham for 20 years! It is a beautiful place!

Couch Information

No couch currently available for surfing.

It is an insanely comfortable single bed in one of the spare bedrooms of the house. It has lots of bedding and for some reason I get a better night sleep in it than I do in my own bed. Hmmm.

I live in Framwellgate Moor in Durham with my girlfriend Alex. There are lots of buses running throughout the day to get here and but it's about a 20 minute walk from Durham City. There's a Sainsbury's around the corner as well.

We have no pets and we don't smoke. If you'd like to smoke that's totally fine but you've gotta do it outside!

Me and my lady work at the same place in town and our days off are Tuesday and Sunday typically.

Personal Description

I listened to too much Frank Turner and it made me leave my decent career to do some real living, however these days I'm back in England saving my money up again!

I take things easy and I'll always get the first pint in.

I prefer having a bit of a beard going on.

How I Participate in CS

I'm available mostly any time to go for a coffee or a drink in Durham and it would be lovely to meet you.

Couchsurfing Experience

I used CouchSurfing a lot when I was in Australia to meet and stay with new people that were amazing all over the country.

In Durham I've been out for coffees with a couple people that were an absolute joy.

Interests

My interests include taking it easy and sleeping in my friend's beds.

I listen to a lot of music and I watch a lot of films.
I enjoy learning.

I can kick your arse on the Xbox!

Philosophy

I follow three philosophies in my life:

1) The one I came up with myself is "Live a balanced life and have fun."

2) My Dad taught me from a very early age, "Steady away and don't give in."

3) And finally, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Ferris Bueller has the right idea.

Music, Movies, Books

Movies:
DIE HARD.
Anything and everything by Pixar; Toy Story 3 shatters my emotions and leaves me a crumpled wreck on the floor. Seriously, it feels like my tears are crying.

Music:
Lots and lots of ambient/post rock, as well as music of the good old punk/ska variety.

Books: Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Types of People I enjoy

People who aren't dicks. If you're not a dick, we'll get on just fine. I'd also like it if you'd lend me your nail-clippers, because I lost mine.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know three jokes but they're usually better after a couple of drinks, so I'll wait until things get more laid back to break them out! Haha!

One Amazing Thing I've Seen or Done

I've seen the Northern Lights in Iceland. I can pretty much die happy now.

I've seen loads of amazing videos of kittens on YouTube as well.

What do these numbers mean?

This summary is not a replacement for reading references; it's a quick summary to help you get started. At a glance, you can see how many references a member has, and how many of them are positive, neutral, and negative.

In the second line, you'll see how many references came from people who hosted this member, surfed with them, and traveled with them. These numbers won't always add up to the total: some references are not categorized, and some may be categorized as more than one thing.

When viewing this summary, don't jump to conclusions! Things that are negative for one person may be positive for another, and vice versa. It's important to read references carefully and evaluate what that information means to you.

Jon is amazing, awesome awesome guy and also the first couchsurfer i hosted. He is passionate about life and we hit it off really well talking about everything under the sun and especially movies. He should promote movies because the way he describes the shows he loves, you will just wanna watch it straight away. it was good fun drinking at my balcony. Genuine, honest, funny, happy and a very good story teller. Really hope to see you again one day bro! now i have chocolate, yes man, arrested development, UP!!!!!! ... on and on.. to watch

Jonathan is really friendly and easy to get along with. We had a great time while Jonathan stayed with us drinking copious amounts of red wine, watching random You Tube videos, staying up til 4am playing Buzz, and much more. We would highly recommend that anyone with a good sense of humour host or surf with Jonathan as you will definitely share many laughs. He even does the dishes :p
