CouchSurfing Volunteer OpportunitiesCouchSurfing is a non-profit organization funded primarily by member contributions and powered by volunteers from everywhere -- individuals fueled by CouchSurfing’s mission to change the world. Volunteerism is a CouchSurfing ideal. You may wonder why so many talented people volunteer for CS when they could have high paying jobs in the corporate world. The reason is that CS has opportunities that they can't find anywhere else. We offer a chance to wake up every day looking forward to coming to the office. Do what you truly love, give back to the community you love, and participate in a project that is changing the world. You'll have a chance to engage with the most talented people in your industry in one of the world's centers for innovation. CouchSurfing is committed to the personal development of its volunteers including training and education opportunities. CouchSurfing volunteers have gone on to become entrepreneurs and team leaders. The OfficeOur home office is a non-traditional setting emphasizing individual self-expression and creative exploration. Individuals thrive on the high-energy environment, fluid collaboration, inspiring talent, and a strong sense of purpose. We ensure that everyone understands our greater vision, mission, and strategic goals. We ensure that everyone can present their ideas freely and pursue meaningful projects.On-site volunteers live and participate together at our shared living environment locations. You won't even need to leave your house to get to the place you volunteer. CS maintains a permanent home and office in the San Francisco Area as well as temporary, satellite offices around the world. We call our location in San Francisco, California, "BaseCamp". BaseCamp is located in the Mission District and is close to public transportation. San Francisco is one of the world's most vibrant and stimulating cities. We're committed to building meaningful bonds with our volunteer staff, which is why we live and participate in a shared home office. We live and breathe CouchSurfing. Volunteer and GrowBaseCamp provides logistical support and stability to these remote offices. Team members may rotate from location to location, staying in each country for several months at a time depending on their team’s need and visa status. While you help build CouchSurfing, you'll also have enough time to become good friends with locals, learn a new language, and explore in depth a new culture of the world. For volunteers who come from remote areas of the world to contribute their talents at Base Camp, CS provides, depending on a multitude of factors, housing, meals, and other basic necessities. These motivated individuals will have the opportunity to improve their skills, take on large projects and responsibilities, learn through their experience, and add something great to their resume. Discover Local CultureAt CouchSurfing, discovering new local cultures through travel is not only an option, it's a requirement and part of the volunteering program. Experiencing new cultures and local CS communities is essential for all volunteers. That's why on-site volunteers will have the opportunity to live abroad at one of our Collective locations, with the support of a stable center of operations (BaseCamp) in the San Francisco Bay Area. CouchSurfing Collectives have been located all across the globe. To date, CouchSurfing volunteers have been to Montreal in Canada, Nelson in New Zealand, Rotterdam in Holland, Pai in Thailand, Alaska in the United States, and Samara in Costa Rica. Many of CouchSurfing's volunteers are specialized contributors who work from their homes around the world. Many of them have existing careers, while others are traveling nomads. If you can make a commitment of a few hours each week, these opportunities are a great chance to have a global impact in your spare time. Check out our Remote Volunteer Information Group if you're interested in receiving updates on available projects!Temporary ProjectsCouchSurfing has many short-term projects for those who can volunteer on-site for 1-12 weeks. Spend your vacation in support of the global community, living with the CS staff at BaseCamp or a Collective. These projects change often as our needs change, so check back often.Promote our Vision & Mission! Finally, as CouchSurfing is a non-profit organization, no individual or investor profits from the contributions of our volunteers. All of their donated hours and skills help further the CS vision and support the community.Ready?Ready to become a part of the family and make being a part of the CouchSurfing organization your future?
