Using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) it will be easy for people to choose between different layouts of CouchSurfing.

How

  • Rewrite CS code, put as much as (all?) layout stuff possible inside the .css.
    • Guaka Talk CS has started moving layout stuff into cs.css. In the process, CS's HTML output is becoming slightly more valid.
  • Set up contest where people can submit CSS style sheets, and elections for the best.
  • Let users choose between all submitted style sheets in their preferences, but use the winner of the contest as the standard layout.
  • User:Amylin was already interested in creating some new CSS designs.

Advantages

  • Changes to the layout can be made easily (at one point).
  • People can pick the stylesheet they like.
  • Stylesheets more adequate for blind or colourblind people.
  • Less complaints about CS being ugly.
  • Valid code (not only the CSS-Stuff) helps to deal with handicaps (personal or technical)
