Tips

Be aware of unpredictible weather
There is a fine if you get caught camping in your car or tent without a DOC pass. Pick them up from the Department of Conversation in Te Anau.

Beware of sandflies. They are plentiful and hungry for blood (especially fresh tourist blood!) Be sure to have plenty of strong insect repellent (Dimp works well).
