General Information for Couchsurfers in HungaryFind a couchHungarians can be very warmharted. the easyest way is to send them a personal letter. They like it if you tell them that they are the only people in the world you want to meet. Avoid standard letters and requests in the groups as long as it isn't the porpose of the group to find a couch (e.g. LMCB) Hungary and the Hungarian in generalMoneyWe still pay in Hungarian Forint and the exchange rate changes every day. Compare the exchange rates and don't forget to ask for possible extra fees. Changing on trainstations is never a good idea. You can go to official places, but some shops do change money as well. Most restaurantes do except €uro but do not expact a fair excange rate. Just for informations. A breakfast is about 1000.- HUF, a lunch - menu from 1000.- - 1500.- HUF al la Cart you should count for 2500.- to 3000.- inkl. a drink. If it is more expencive you are in a expensive place. Tickets in Budapest pulic transport (BKV) are 1500.- HUF / day. Traintickets are about 18.- HUF / km. A beer is 350.- HUF Hours of OperationBe aware that in Hungary the still play the most funny game: "Witch day is today". This is a heritage from the communist times when they just swipped days of the week. So for example a state holiday would be on a thursday, so it might happen that the fryday afterwards will be actually a saturday officialy. Next week therefore ther will be a fryday followed by another fryday. This is to have eaven all oficial places closed down. The problem is just that also the trains will go as the saturday schedule says, banks, museums, everything will do as on a saturday. You might ask your host if it is realy monday and not sunday. Just because the rest of the world does have a monday, that meens nothing to hungarians. Please, it sound like fun, but actually can bring you in big troubles...
