Distribution

It could be a good idea to use a Creative Commons license for the show. In that way people can spread the show over the internet. The Attribution-ShareAlike-NonCommercial license (CC-BY-NC-SA) or the Attribution-ShareAlike license (CC-BY-SA) is probably a good option.

BitTorrent and other P2P filesharing systems can be used to keep the server load down. Episodes can probably be Vodcasted.

Music

Independently of how the material is released, all the music under the CC-BY or public domain music can be used. And, independently of how you release your videos, you cannot use, for example, music of Madonna, simply because you are going to distribute it on the Web.

Within CouchSurfing there are a lot of musicians willing to create or give permission to use their music.
