Melbourne is the capital city of the state of Victoria, Australia. It was founded in 1835 by free settlers and not by convicts as many other Australian cities were. Someone who lives in Melbourne is called a Melburnian. As at June 30 2008, there were more than 4,100 CouchSurfers registered in Melbourne.
