The longest day in the northern hemisphere, marking the beginning of summer. The exact moment varies, but mostly midsummer is celebrated on juni 21st. In Nordic countries, where differences between winter and summer are quite big and where midsummernight is really short (or not even not existing) there is a whole tradition of midsummernight celebrations.
