      • adding a new "volunteer dashboard" to help certain volunteers manage their "jobs" easier
      • decreasing the load on the mail spool
      • creating new systems for identifying members who were falsely identified as spammers, educating them on why there were, and releasing their accounts from the auto-hold they were put on quickly

  • conferencing with Admins and other core volunteers all around the world every week

today - 25 jan

  • spending the vast majority of time tediously and serving the needs of the CS community by compensating for inadequate programming

  • working with Donna and Casey to streamline the verification process by:
    • exploring new methods of securely verifying members' names and addresses
    • making it easier and faster to print and mail letters by:
      • converting the current system that requires files on my computer to a better, completely online system that may involve multiple volunteers rather than be completely dependant on me and my machine
      • redesigning the letter layout to fit within different international systems

Keith

  • Most Days... - My technical project while at the Collective is to convert as much of the code into XHTML ready format as I can. While I enjoy the task, it makes for pretty boring daily updates. So I'm going to try to focus on the fun things instead! This is New Zealand after all...

Keith is out... wandering around beautiful New Zealand (just for a few weeks)

  • Feb 11 - Tech meeting at 10am on Sunday. While the meeting was necessary, the timing was bit early for everyone. New system of code commits should be in place in a couple days. Very excited, it will make my job much easier! Today was the first test of the House Coordinator system. Things seem to be running pretty smoothly.
  • Feb 10 - An absolutely brilliant hike through Cable Bay. Whirlpools at the Quebec house. Stars at the campground. Happy happy happy!
  • Feb 9 - Big meeting at the Cliffs to establish guidelines for this and future Collectives. Elections held for House Mediator, House Coordinator, I thought it was very successful. Digs rocks. Yeah for consensus.
  • Feb 8 - I am so sick of dishes. I am proposing that all meals be eaten out of bread bowls. We are full up - slept in the car.
  • Feb 7 - Loaded up the blue car with all of our recycling and did our part for the environment. The recycling center has a giant yellow robot. I want a giant yellow robot.
  • Feb 6 - Waitangi Day! Glen (one of our great local CSers) took us to a stunning fresh (freezing) water swimming hole. We all jumped in and felt ALIVE!
  • Feb 5 - Superbowl Monday! Lots of fun explaining the rules to Kiwis. Poor poor Bears. Afterwards Donna and I went food shopping for both houses. FYI, Nelson doesn't seem to have V8 juice or couscous. So stop adding it to the grocery list. :)
  • Feb 4 - Woke up at 7am for some reason. Decided to clean the kitchen before the morning rush. It only lasted for an hour, but it was sparkly! Made a 'gift icon' for profiles. Send a gift to CS and get yur icon! Everyone went to the campground tonight for a great night of BBQ and guitars.
  • Feb 3 - Saturday market in Nelson! At night we all gathered at the Quebec house for an amazing dinner by Donna. It's great having everyone together for meals.
  • Feb 2 - Beautiful sunny day so a few of us broke away from the laptops and walked on the beach for an hour. Converted a bunch of pages to XHTML.
  • Feb 1 - Yummy wine tasting at local vineyards. Followed by coding fixes. Probably should have fixed the code before the wine.
  • Jan 31 - My head is full from Tech meetings. Long but very useful.
  • Jan 30 - Fixed my first bug! Yippe!
  • Jan 27 - Arrived at the Collective. Everyone is so nice!
