Hey! Travelling to Sierra de Aracena means that you take traveling very seriously :-) South West Spain is a fascinating and beautiful place due to a few facts you might want to know about and that makes this a very special place on the planet. Yes, please keep reading and consider the following:
Believe or not, it is also the second rainiest area of the country, so bring your rain coat and be ready for beautiful lush vegetation everywhere and all year around. If you like hiking you are lucky, you can discover the many pretty senderos (trails, many more examples on the web) connecting its small towns.
Well, the area is definitely worth a more than a visit, not only for the amazing facts about its packed history, including the remains of a Templar Castle in its main town Aracena, but also for its excellent food (famous and eco-friendly jamón de Jabugo is from here), its many mushrooms (setas, please be informed) varieties during autumn and winter, the intimate local farmer markets every other saturday, its many attractions like Gruta de las Maravillas, (Cave of Wonders), the small medieval mosque of Almonaster with breath taking views, the mystical Peña de Arias Montano and many more, beautiful green landscapes and extraordinary good hearted people from every corner of the world.
This CS Group is meant to be a meeting point for the CS Community who
are living in the Sierra de Aracena, for those who are passing by or
wants to visit, and for everyone who just wants to keep in touch.
It's also a place to share information, discuss, propose happenings, meetings or simply to say hello.
Whoever you are, wherever you are coming from, we want to hear your
story. Sierra de Aracena welcomes all CouchSurfers!!
