"a stranger in this town.. who'll show this stranger around?"
Posted April 21st, 2011 - 2:52 am by from Jerusalem, Israel (Permalink)
hey there!

i'm oren, i'm a 26 Y.O. student from Jerusalem. i'm here in NYC, i was suppose to be here with my brothers, but due to a mishap (funny, of sort), they didn't come, so i'm here on my own. as a member of the Jerusalem's (small but determined) Critical Mass, i know that the best to get to know a city is by bikes, and the best way to cycle is with another person. i'm gong to rent a bicycle tomorrow, and anyone who wants to join me can call me around 11:00, i guess i'll be somewhere in mid-town (with bicycles, everything is rather close). i'd be happy to meet up with local avid cyclists, and hang out. you can call me at this number- 12039887952 (i'm borrowing this cell-phone, so i'm telling in advance- i'll try to make the conversation brief, just to set up a where and when).
so, if you fancy showing me around and hearing what's it's like to do a critical mass through the alleys of the old city of jerusalem, or what happened to my brothers (it is a funny story, in a way), you are welcomed to call.

sorry for the length,

oh, p.s.- i don't need a place to stay, i have one.

I have the day off tomorrow and was thinking of going for a good bike ride anyway, so if you care to do that fun ol thing together, that'd be great. I'm lookin to do something 1-2 hrs out, then back, and was thinking of just heading out east into Long Island, which I realize isn't exactly the classic tourist thing to do, but if you're looking for some less crowded, cruzer streets, this would be the way to go. Plus, there's a few cool things to see out in that direction, like some graffiti walls, nice parks, and good diners to stop at for lunch. Midday would be a good send-off point. So if you get this in the AM, you wanna ride, and can give me a call, do so: 530.559.5185. Anyone's welcome to join as long as they love bikes!

Hope to be meeting you upon a two-wheeled steed soon!

hey there!
first, thanks again for responding. unfortunally, i didn't get to internet since my last messege (, so i haven't seen it on time, and anyway, i biked yesterday. however, i'd defiantlly go for a second ride, if it's with a native this time... :)
i didn't got everything you said (bad acoustics+lots of people at the met), but i understood you're busy tomorrow? i'm doing some general stuff tomorrow, so if you want to meet up on sunday and ride or do other stuff, could be fun (i have two free tickets to the Natural history museum. been there once, so i'm not intending to do the whole tour again, but i'd like to be in the planetriom itself, which i missed).
i'll be next to net tomorrow evening again, hopefully. i'll try to have the phone on sunday too.

p.s.- i highly appreaciate people who refer to their bikes as "the noble steed" :)
