I am sorry I missed the potluck in December. I really wish I could have made it. Would be be interested in making sure there is a potluck on the 3rd Sunday of every month this year? Who wants to do January?

Great idea Josh! I was going to offer to host in January, but I'm going to be away the 3rd Sunday. Hopefully I can take part in February:)

Hi Philly! - any plans yet for May? as of Easter Sunday, only 3 weeks left...

I cannot host, but would love to join other 'Surfers for an afternoon/ evening of cooking, sharing and eating.

I will gladly come early to help clean & set up, and stay late to wash dishes etc.

I would be interested in joining the potlucks as well.

I'd love to host a potluck. I have plenty of space and a backyard in my South Kensington apartment.

However, I would rather do the one in June rather than May. The Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby is on Saturday the 21st in May and that's a big deal in my neighborhood. I'm trying not to over commit myself.

@ Mike - welcome to CS! hope you love it. And welcome to the Potluck group, which kinda needs help...

@ Caroline - June is coming! hope I'm around then, as
I'm still in limbo. I will follow the posts.

So... May 15th: maybe a picnic? let's work together to make it happen.

I can try and clear my calendar for the 15th if it becomes a definite.

And very m uch looking forward to the Kensington Kinetic Derby this year - was a great time last year. Hopefully the weather will stay nice.

I'll take June 18th and put up an event announcement in a little over a week so as not to cause confusion if there is a potluck this month. If the weather is nice, I have a backyard for grilling and chilling.

There's a lot of Kinetic Derby event talk around couchsurfing. I think it would be better to pass on a potluck on the 15th and save up people's strength for the next.

But if someone wants to do it for this Sunday, I don't want to stop them.

By the way, I live around the corner from Trenton Avenue so the Derby is a big deal for me. Can't wait.

Oops, I meant Sunday the 19th. Read the calendar wrong.

This is a CROSS-POST from the main Phila. group:

Judy Becker is hosting a potluck at her north Philly home this Friday and asked me to post this event notice.

Judy invites CouchSurfers, whether local or traveling through, to join her for a potluck dinner. She has invited
some friends and colleagues as well, so it will be a great mix of guests. Judy has photos and stories to share from her recent South Seas travels.

Start time is 6 PM. Bring what you like to eat and share.

The home is in the East Oak Lane area of north Philly:

6620 N. 13th St.
(SW corner of 13th & Oak Lane)

Friday the 13th... North 13th St. --- come get Pot-Lucky!

(yes, it would be in lieu of meeting on the 15th)

Hello all!

@Caroline - sounds great! do you have a theme or main menu idea?
I'm eager to meet up, and will make a main dish.

Are you still up to hosting?
As mentioned, I'm happy to help from set-up to clean-up.

Hey there Buddy, I was wondering if you meant to say in June.. I just got this posting and it say's friday the 13th and that is in May.. Is there another potluck in June. I know that someone was thinking of doing it in June.. Is that still happening? I am eager to meet people. I just moved from Florida 4 months ago and I do not know anyone outside of work..

The potluck will be on Sunday, June 19th. Not this Sunday, but the next Sunday. I will put up an event announcement and create a separate thread to spread the word. I don't have a specific time in mind yet. As long as it's wrapped up by 9 pm, I'm fine.

I'll likely do the event announcement on Saturday (tomorrow) sometime. I'll have full details then.

I live in Kensington about two blocks from the Berks el stop and a half a block from the 3 & 57 buses. My place is easy to find and fairly spacious, with a backyard.

As for a theme, all I thought of "be cool" in the 100 degree heat. So icy cold drinks, spicy foods, and cooling dishes would be quite welcome. I'll try to create a catchier name for the theme.

See you all in just a few hours. Let's make it one to

All you need to remember is to ring the bottom doorbell. And if you get lost or need help, call/text 610-220-7863.

The weather is gorgeous and the turnout is hovering around 15, which is what I hoped it would be. Plenty of food, drink, and seating for all.

See you in a few hours.

I goofed and didn't cross-link the event announcement with the thread:

Sorry, folks.
