Australia Day Weekend - Alpine National Parl Hiking & Camping
Posted January 15th, 2013 - 12:41 am by from Narre Warren East, Australia (Permalink)
To celebrate my last weekend of freedom, before starting my teaching career im going bush Australia Day weekend (26th and 27th Jan).

Either leaving Trafalgar early on the 26th or on the Friday night.

The plan is to complete either/or both:
- Bryce gorge circuit
- First falls and moroka gorge walks

Refer: http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0015/313170/Park-note-Alpine-NP-Walks-around-Howitt,-Snowy-Range-and-Tali-Karng-.pdf

Outdoor experience is preferable, gear essential. Depending on fire danger ratings it might be cold rations for the weekend. And I will contact parks vic to ensure conditions are okay before the weekend.

If anyone is interested in joining please let me know.

Hey Jacob,

I'd be interested in joining. I do a lot of climbing, so have a fair amount of hiking and camping experience from that. Have all my own camping, cooking and hiking gear too. I live in Elwood and don't have a car... do you know if there's any buses going out to Trafalgar? Otherwise I may need to see if others are joining from the city.

I dont think things will be too extreme.

There are vline trains that leave from southern cross and flinders in the city (the traralgon line), with most stopping in trafalgar. If catching the train I would prefer you come out friday night and crash here (or we get started heading up there), so there is no delay sat morning. I have a couple of seats in my car from here.

When I checked last night it was listed as controlled, but there may still be road closures in the area.. I was going to hold out until later in the week until calling Parksvic for their advice.. If we cant go into the Alpine National park we will head somewhere else.
