Hellow Ellen!
I'm really willing to do rock climbing trips around. The problem is I'm a foreign guy and i just have with me my shoes, my harness and my chalk bag :P
All the other equipment are in Brazil unfortunatly. Do you have equipaments with you?
Soon I will come to Melbourne (on december). I'm planing to do some Tasmania tracks and then come back to melbourne and travel around victoria.
Do you have something in mind, like palces you wanna go?
Here in Australia i've never practice leading climbing before. Only top rope. But in Brasil I climbed some outdoor places "clipping" (lead climbing).
Do you intend to do tradicional climb? I mean with nuts and cams? Because this one I have no experience at all.

Chances are I will leave Melbourne December 5th to fly to New Zealand. So depending when you arrive here we can go climbing together or not.
In the mean time I've done some research. I'm posting the information i found here for you. Saves you the trouble.

There are several climbing clubs: chockstone, Victoria climbing club, roc (rmit uni climbing club). They all have a website and we can probably find a partner or join trips there.
There also is a rock climbing hall, "hard rock", in the city, near Franklin street if I'm not mistaken. You can find climbers there too. Best on Mondays. Look for a yellow sign in the gym.

That's about all. So, contact me if you arrive here and we can meet up.

Hi guys! I'm looking for climbing partner too, I'm from Argentina, I've been climbing for more than 10 years now, I bring to Australia some of my gear (rope, personal gear some nuts, cams and stoppers and full set of camping "climber/mountaineer style" ) It's should be enough to explore Arapiles... what I hear is the best place in Victoria to real rock climbing.
Ellen: drop me a private message if you wanna meet for climbing session, it's a free boulder wall close where I live ( South Yarra) I'm gonna have free time after wednesday.
Pedro: also drop me a Private message when you are here in Melbourne, and we can meet. not futbol talk allowed! jajajaja.

Hi guys, i was thinking of writing a post like this as well!

I have only shoes and I'll get a harness soon, but I'll stay in Melbourne for a longer while - like a year or so. I haven't been climbing recently, but I did it all before. I am a little limited by work though, but I do get days off :D Definetely hope to go to the Arapiles, for the time being bouldering or hard rock wall...
