Here's a (probably impractical) idea: When a new person joins the China group, one of the moderators sends a copy and paste welcome message which includes a link to the wiki and to the list rules. Moderators get notices of everyone who joins a group, unless they have disabled the feature. Maybe rule infringements and questions that have been asked many times before will lesson if this is done.

The "probably impractical" part assumes that there are so many people joining the China group that it would take too much time for a moderator to send out such messages to the new people in the list. OTOH, if it's a copy and paste message, it should take much time.

Just an idea.

Nancy, unfortunately your idea is not going to work, let me explain why.

I'm one of the group moderators who get the notice immediately when a new member join this group. According to my experience, 90+ percent of the newly joined group members write their first post right after the joined the group, It's simple, they join the group because they want to ask something and unfortunately many people don't read the group description, guidelines, not even the subject of the last 10 threads, they simple come to post thier question. So even if the moderator is online 24/7, it's impossible to send them anything BEFORE they make their first post. Even if we send them something immediately and it's landing in their inbox in time, as they already writing the message they came for, they will not read our message BEFORE they finish their post.

The info, we have a very useful CS China Wiki is written in every possible section of the group, it's in the group description (details) and Gus's post is a flagged post as well. There is nothing else we can do, if people not read the info, you can't make them read it in group level.

Wow! Great work! No more reposts (hopefully). I'm going to go share this with reddit and another forum website.

The glorious minions of reddit came up with some problems with the Visa info on the wiki page. It's out of date perhaps?
