Tree People Guerilla Art Project

ok, this is going to be awesome! you gotta get in on this!

the idea's a simple one of putting eyes on trees around the city. with just some eyes & eye brows any range of personification is born. putting eyes on trees is meant draw attention and remind people to make that connection between trees as beings. but also meant to be amusing! i love the idea of someone walking down the street.. la di dah... oh shit, that tree is looking at me!?

but of course it's about having a lot of fun doing it too! we're having a party in Queens to make the eyes & then we'll get together over the summer to put them up. we're still brainstorming about what we're going to make the eyes out of & how we're going to attach them. cardboard & flour glue is an option but would be trashed when it rained. we're definately going with biodegradable. looking for all good ideas!

SUPPLIES COLLECTION:

looks like it's gonna be cardboard, folks. the brown stuff will be easy enough to find but please keep an eye out for black, white & other colors. the best would be if we could find some of the waxed cardboard, the ones used to ship frozen stuff with ice.

keep your eye out for anything else you might come across that would be good, eye-shaped & made from natural material. collect the knobs off drawer or cabinet doors if you come across furniture in the street.

eat eggs! save cardboard egg cartons.

paperclips & small pieces of metal could be useful...

for the rest of the supplies we'll need we're hoping that if everyone brings whatever extras they might have we'll have enough to not have to buy anything. glue, staples/staplers, staple gun anyone? we'll need string/twine later to tie the eyes onto the trees.

anything else we might need...?

Love the idea that trees are looking lol.

I'm good on the weekends and june 15 is a good date for me

Supplies wise was thinking that if we don't get wax cardboard, we could use shellec/varnish to hold the cardboard, plus I figure it would protect the colours when it pours.

Was thinking could use starch to make glue but it won't last when it rains.

I'm bringing a giant box of crayons. Going to nab it from the kiddies i am looking after muahahha
