train tickets: possible to buy online?
Posted August 20th, 2012 - 9:09 am by from Pavia, Italy (Permalink)
Just wondering...

- is it possible to buy train tickets online?

- in case it's not, do you know if I can them in adavance, say, through agencies in other countries? (For example, buy train tickets for Kazakhstan in Urumqi, China)

Any help is truly appreciated :)

Just found this nice website:

https://pcentre.kz/

too bad there is no English version! Any good fella would like to give a hand to a clumsy (but fiercely independent) traveler?

Best,
S.

Hey Emil!

Yes, actually there's something very simple you coulddo to help me :)

Go to the website and, of course without buying the ticket, go through the steps. I mean, until the page where you're asked the credit card...

Then post here which buttons I have to click! :) I will follow the process. I mean, I can understand more or less what's on the page, but the writings on the buttons are images, so I can not translate them online. That is what is blocking me!

I'd like to book a ticket from Almaty to Aralsk (the train stop is listed like Aral Sea), and then another looong ride from Aralsk to Oral (Uralsk).

If you really could drive me trough a toy-sample buying by listing the necessary steps, I'll be halfway to solve the problem! :)

online ticketing is not so popular in my country, hence poor website support, like absent of english version, by the way way u can book tickets only starting 45 days prior to your journey, and first of all u gotta to be registered in web site(I ve done registration behalf of u login is simone and password/ I ll send u. u can proceed through paying very simply, just click on blank space where info of your ATM card is required, then it will show pix of parts of your card to be filled, that is it,
in addition on page where written:
Станция отправления type Алмата, then chose either Алмата 1 or Almaty 2(close to center of the city)
Станция назначения type Арал, then chose Аральское море
анкета\документ u have to chose паспорт иностранного гражданина(passport of foreigner
тариф\ полный(not a kid)
other stuff u can fill yourself
if further assistance required, u r pleased to ask

Hey Simone,
Which day do you travel there? `cause I travel from Almaty to Araskt (to see the Lake) on 3rd of Spet). And finally i learnt how I could book train ticket, but I don`t know where I can stay in Aralsk. Maybe the train station is not safe alone....(I go back to Almaty and if it`s possible on the same day in the middle of the night).

Yes, but you have to copy and paste very chunk of information on bing translate, since the whole page is a https page and bing translate does not work with it. (I'm using bing at the moment becasue I'm in China.)

Eszter! It's my same exact day, maybe we can travel together? I was planning to buy the ticket on the 3rd morning, starting from Almaty 2 (close to my host's place). What about you? Please feel free to contact me on skype:

marini.simone.dude

In Ararlsk I found this:

"Aral Hotel that charges 4000 Tenge (22 Euro) as well for two persons as for one. So for two the price is more or less acceptable."

That's all I know.

Add me on skype in case you want a travel buddy!

I bought my ticket:
Finally it wasn`t too difficult. I bought 3rd class ticket.
These are the details, which day, which hour
I travel to Aral on 03.09.2012 19:37 (it arrives on 5th in the morning 6.16 so I don`t have to stay in a hotel)
and come arrive back: АРАЛ МОРЕ -- АЛМА АТА 2
07.09.2012 12:25

1. register click Регистрация and fill it
2. then sign in: click Вход
3. the ticket from Almaty:
almaty equal АЛМА АТА 2 (just copy paste this word)
aral sea equal Аральское море
And date> 03.09.2012.
Then click on the 2. yellow button, and choose this train; 379Т АЛМА АТА 2-УРАЛЬСК 19:37 06:16
and click the 3. yellow button.
And choose that 1 again and the 3. button.
And then choose 1 ticket in 4. car (вагон in russian)

After choose the 5. line above документ (3 words and it means foreign passport) and next is your passport number.
and next is family name, and next is first name, and middle name. And тариф is good, don`t write anything here; границы мест
and choose 1 bepxheem and yellow button.
After you can pay.

And back choose this train (don`t have to stay in hotel again....:o) 06.09.
377Х МАНГЫШЛАК-АЛМА АТА 2 02:42 12:25
...............and the same procedure.
I bought ticket in the 13. car.
It arrives on 07.09 at noon.
And you prefer 2nd class I think it` not problem, just choose that 1.
There are some tickets! and in the same cars. It`s good news! :o)

I hope I was clear, and you can come with me! If you can`t buy the ticket we can meet on sunday evening to buy it, because I`d like to go to the train station to get my ticket.

Take care! Eszter
