Looking for second hand camping gear.
We're two arriving at ChCh airport late at night of
5th March and staying in NZ for one month. We'll tramp the Kepler Track,
the Abel Tasman Track and some others around Mt Cook.
We plan to
move around either hitching, public bus or renting small cars, so first
of all we need a camping tent. Besides it, we need:
- Camping stove + pots
- Camping mats
- Waterproof trousers
- Long socks
So, if you have got some of the above and want to get rid of it contact us.
We'll be in Christchurch only the 6th March, then Dunedin for a couple of days and then Te Anau.
Got about 6 tents but sadly none for sale! Arhhh the sleeping in the ChCH airport, I have my fav spot!! Just looking at your itinerary, those huts suggest you might not need to take a tent if you're happy to stay in them. If you do then the light sleeping bag will be fine. Some huts will supply gas/hotplate in the peak season, eg Kepler, Mueller Hut. Besides a mattress (first come basis) on a bunk and sometimes a cooker, I trust you have been to NZ before to know they're minimalist compared to European huts. Also factor bad weather in your itinerary. See my other post for options in Cook area, lots of O/N options here. Wanaka might be another option for you to save travelling to Ta Anau. Its a mecca for climbers and there is a load of options up the WEst Matuki tuki Valley, namely Cascade Saddle route and down either the Rees or Dart. Transport both ends. Glenorchy is a magical small town with a great pub ... icey cold Monteiths beer! Kinloch Lodge is a great spot to stay if you have a car. Too many options, so little time! Good Luck.
