Kepler + Abel Tasman + Around Mt Cook. What do you think?

Hi trampers,

My partner and I are planning our dreamly trip to NZ. Since we aren't renting a car we may rely on hitch-hiking, public bus or small cars if in a rush.

I'd like to share our plan with you. If you can take some time on thinking about it and give you some feedback that would be much appreciated.

We arrived to ChCh airport the night between 5th and 6th March. Sleep in the airport.

MARCH
6 --> Travelling from ChCh to Dunedin.
7 - 8 Dunedin (I've got a meeting at the Uni)
9 - 11 Going to Te Anau

12 - 14 TRAMPING THE KEPLER TRACH

15 - 20 Going to Mt Cook Village and HIKE over there.

21 - 26 Flexible days to adjust the initial plan (due to problems with transportation, weather conditions, etc)

27 - 30 TRAMPING THE ABEL TASMAN. Probably kayaking + walking

31 - April 1 Travelling to Picton and Wellington
2 Wellington (I've got a meeting)
3 Travelling to Auckland
4 Leaving NZ from Auckland Airport.

Regarding the equipment. I post another threat looking for second-hand stuff we may need. We already have:

- Backpacks
- Summer sleeping bags (comfort 15ºC)
- Silk sleeping bags (adding 5ºC)
- Mountain trainers (i.e. trial running)
- First aid kit
- 'Light my fire' kit of plates and spork
- Waterproof jacket
- Normal clothing.
- Hat, suncream, potabilising water pills, water bottles,...

I think we may need:

- Camping tent
- Camping mats
- Camping stove + pots
- Thermos
- Gloves
- Waterproof trousers
- Long socks

Hope to hear from your experience. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are going to the Pyrenees mountains! :)

Cheers,
Sebas & Adela (CS espirulina)
