Looking for a native english speaker to practice conversations in english
Posted January 23rd, 2011 - 10:39 pm by from Salvador, Brazil (Permalink)
My friends in Tokyo,

I am looking for a native english speaker to hold a one on one conversation in english, in which the 'english teacher' would be paid a small amount of money for your time. So this is not an exchange of languages (I heavily apologize if I am violating something-please see bottom) but more of a wanted post for an open job.

I also add that the 'student' is not me, but a very good friend of mine from the office whom Ive known for 5 years. We work in a sogo-shousha (a general trading company) and she has been recently transferred to another department where there is close to zero usage of english, and she is afraid of losing it, and therefore is looking for somebody to hold sessions in english.

I outline the details below:
-she is 28, lives in Tokyo (I believe to the north), works in Otemachi
-already speaks/writes/understands english fairly well, so Id put her at an advanced level
-prefer 1 on 1 conversations maybe over a coffee, one hour at a time, perhaps 1-2 times per week
-you will be paid a small wage for your time

I apologize but i dont have any other details, such as exactly what times are convenient. If you are interested or would like further information, please post in reply or send me a private message. Please note Id rather not post publicly any more information about my friend but only privately. Thank you very much for your attention and time.

Lastly, although I did not see any guidlines regarding this in the Tokyo site nor this sub-group, but I truly apologize if anybody takes offense regarding...
-me violating the spirit of CS, which should not be dealing with paid jobs,
-me making posts for something not for myself, but for a non-CS friend,
-me making a post that isnt exactly language-exchange.

My group in Salvador, Brazil forbids any posts regarding paid jobs as a guideline, but I did not see one in the Tokyo group. I also felt that possibly someone travelling under CS would be interested in, and in need of, a paid job as this one, which is my experience here.

Again, thank you for your attention and understanding.

All the best,
Shuto

Hey Shuto,

I am a native english speaker visiting japan right now. I will be here until the end of the month and would be glad to talk about a exchange/arrangement of some sort.

Message me privately and let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

I might apologize saying that nothing is perfect, and a bit far from what was requested in my case ,since I´m not an English native speaker but an English and Spanish teacher ,eager to know about Japanese culture and travel tips over there .
I prefer speaking English rather than Spanish(my mother tongue), check it in my profile .
I will not charge any fee and would be quite difficult to do so also....chuckles.

Ahhh ,ainiku Nihon ni tsukimasendeshita .

So, the only available tool will be Skype.
Send me a private message if she is interested .

Sayoonara,
Aruzenchin kara.
