Was independent trekking banned?

Hey guys!

I'm going to Nepal in February and I'm gonna trek independently. But today friend of mine has found info (in .ru part of the Internet) that it was banned and now everyone must hire a guide.
My search in the .com part of the beloved Internet has resulted in finding articles that it was proposed by the government to ban independent trekking but no info if that law passed or not.
I believe that it didn't but still wanna be sure before my trip.
So, is it still possible to go trekking in Nepal by urown without a guide?

Thanks!

Hey Alice,

We did ABC independently with so many met on the trail a month ago.

But I know for langtang region, you have to get a guide or porter or a person who will be your guide and porter. His name should go in your permit, otherwise not possible to get permits. Also there is a stop on the road to check you are accompanying your guide.

For EBC, not sure but think it will be possible to go on ur own.

Go at March/April when all lowers blooming.

Hello Allice,

I read from many articles said so. And it's quite expensive hiring guide or potter. Also i found, the best time for trekking is on March to May.

Hey, i have plan trekking from Lukla to EBC on March maybe we could join together?

@ Kasra, thank you. All your informations was very helpfull.

Can anybody suggest any good trekking itinerary in February in Nepal, wearing sport shoes, without a guide, for 5-10 days?
