Nice! There's life! :) How about anyone in or from Somaliland? Have either of you been?

I was in Hargeisa and Berbera back in 2008 shortly before the bombings. But I only stayed for a week or so and then continued to Djibouti. Do you plan to go?

I am still active and well connected. I was there for several months in 2009 and again in 2010 and have lots of friends there who I'm in touch with. Send me a message if you need info or contacts.

Hey guys,
heading to Somaliland in a couple of days. Yotut, you still there? What was your experience? Where did you go?

Anybody got some contacts, I would be very grateful, especially because I would like to go to Berbera and Las Geel, but dont really want to pay the fee (is it still 15$) for the guard, any suggestions?

Hi Stefan!

You can go to Berbera by minibus, should be no problem. For Las Geel you probably need a guard for a day, should be worth the 15$. Either you can get a private taxi to there or you and the guide just get on the same minibus to Berbera, get off after some time and walk the last 3km.

But you get all information at the Ministry of Tourism (yes, there is one!). If Mohamed Ibrahim stills works there, say Hi to him (from Ben) :)

Liebe Gruesse aus Wien,
