Desperately looking for a job in Melbourne...
Posted May 15th, 2013 - 12:52 pm by from Canberra, Australia (Permalink)
Hi guys,

I've been in Melbourne for almost two months now and more than 60 applications and three recruitment agencies later, I'm still looking for temporary work that's neither dodgy (been there...) nor hopelessly underpaid (so that working 20+ hours per week doesn't even cover rent and food). Being on a working holiday visa appears to be a huge disadvantage as many employers don't seem to consider such applicants at all (regardless of experience, kind of position, etc.). As a graduate of psychology with a lot of data entry/analysis and tutoring experience and a fair share of previous work in customer-oriented and receptionist positions, I am very flexible and willing to quickly learn something new.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking into new approaches and directions every week, but recently I've started to consider leaving Melbourne altogether. So please help me with finding a way to stay here for about two more months. :)

Markus
