visa and hostel booking
Posted September 27th, 2012 - 5:31 am by from Florence, Italy (Permalink)
I am planning a trip to China and the embassy asked me for the hotel/hostel reservation (mandatory). Actually I will be staying in my friends' home, but it's quite complicate to register that as an accommodation (I would need their house contract etc). Do you think it's fine if I book an hostel to get my visa and then just delete my booking before going? Or are they checking it?
Thank you!

That is usually sufficient, but what you must remember about all Chinese admin is that it varies according to which office you go to. So what works in one country might not work in another. I suggest you make a couple of hostel bookings and then cancel them later (or you might get billed for the full amount). Don't forget to register with the local PSB Exit and Entry office within 24 hours of arrival. Your friend might not be aware of this requirement.
