Has 'N' Happened yet? If not then the redux of N in May...
Posted May 2nd, 2010 - 7:24 am by from Bangkok, Thailand (Permalink)
Hey guys,
It seems like there have been a few posts about N but doesn't seem like there was a meet up for N. So lets get together and eat N. I am voting for food from Napal.

Cheers and see you guys soon.

This group is stalling, so maybe proposing a couple of N(epalese) restaurants will get it going again.

Tsampa (funny because it means 'for free' in Greek slang)
212 E 9th St

Cafe Himalaya
78 E 1st St

According to yelp there are many more around Jackson Heights, but it's a bit too faraway for me.

Hey guys,
So here is a few words that time out has writen the restaurant.

The name of the place is Tsampa-

Prices
Average main course: $10. AmEx, MC, V.
Description
Dining at this serene spot is like checking into a Buddhist retreat. The homeland momo (dumplings) area must: Choose from steamed or fried wheat noodles, then select one of three fillings (chicken with vegetables, shiitake mushrooms with vegetables, or baby potatoand scallions). Skip entrées with curries or sauces, like the sherpa khala; there’s often too much oil. The customary end note: roasted, finely ground barley whipped with creamy yogurt and honey, sprinkledwith dried cranberries.

It seems like it has some great dishes from Napal, which mainly serve up Tibetien food so its a bit mixed and seems really good. I have had some of the dishes of that land while I am here travelling India. So it should be great night of tasty food.

Cheers

Hey great to meet you guys last night. Well I can't say that we were all happy with the place. I am a big fan of the food in that country but this place did not deliver at all and the service was to say it very nicely was maybe the worst in NYC. So maybe the next spot will be a touch better. All the best with your trip back to Germany Eva.

Thanks again for coming out and great to meet you both.

Cheers

Thanks a lot Brian ~ it was such a pleasure and great to meet you and Janice!
Yeah … sure our patience was indeed put on a test in the restaurant; but even the challenge trying different places I think (no risk no fun) … better try and luck next time I’m sure :-) … and being in great company it’s not that important … so thanks again for a really nice evening, which I enjoyed very much.
This early morning I landed again in Cologne, Germany after only one week in wonderful exiting NYC … the never sleepy city!!!
Hope to meet you another time in NYC … or fx. Germany … you can never know :-)
Cheers
Eva :)
