Clark Park Potluck Pinic w/ LIVE MUSIC!
Posted May 23rd, 2009 - 11:43 pm by from Philadelphia, United States (Permalink)
Good weather, good people, good food. That is the mission, so come make it happen with a totally excellent group picnic!

Clark Park is the located in the heart of the beautiful and diverse West Philly, in the University City area. It's been around since 1895, and it remains the hub for local musicians, performers, and vendors of the West Philadelphia area to do their thing. Picnicking there will be juuust perfect.

So, at Noon, we will meet on the far South end (closest to 45th and Woodland) in what is called "the bowl." The bowl is just that: a large, grassy bowl area that was once a lake. Bring ANYTHING! Food is the best, but if you can't swing that, no sweat. Bring an instrument, somethin to drink, or just really anything that can be shared. I will be making a large amount of hummus and probably something else.

There will be TWO events happening in Clark Park during our picnic!

1) The weekly Farmer's Market will go from 10 am till 2 pm, so if you don't have anything to bring, you can always pick up something at the park! Also, this is a good opportunity to meet some friendly Amish people.

2) There is a concert (right in the middle of "the bowl"!) called Best Fest at 1pm. This means free live music to enjoy while we all share food, drinks, and each others company.

If you need additional directions on getting to Clark Park, please message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Otherwise, here is the very informative website:

I have blankets for us, but if anyone would be willing to bring an extra one or two, that would be excellent. My house is two blocks away, so if you want to bring something that may need refridgeration, or if you just wanna put it in my house, nooo problem. We can even hang out there afterwards.

Finally, this park is located about 5 blocks from one of America's first microbreweries, Dock Steet Brewery. If anyone is interested in going after the picnic, lemme know. Here is their website:
