1) Agora Cafe in the basement of the MacMillan building. From 10am to 2:00ish. Mon-Thurs they have homemade lunch specials as well as homemade baked goods and on Fridays it's just baked goods. Plus it's a great place to get cheap, fair trade coffee. $1, bring your own mug.
2) I think at the end of every month, about once a month, some engineering students have a barbecue outside of the MacMillan building for $2 per burger and $1 for a pop. And they aren't fatty, additive-laden McDonald's burgers either. Sometimes they even have cheese!
3) AgUS Wednesday night BBQ: Really yummy food, every week a different theme, made by the Agriculture (Faculty of Land and Food Systems) Undergraduate Society. Not a "BBQ" in the roasted meat sense. Purpose is to promote a sense of community. $5 for a meal. Meat/Vegetarian options available. In the Agora Cafe area. Starts at 5pm sharp every Wednesday. If you come late, then you might miss out.
Anyone have any other campus hidden secrets they can share, pertaining to cheap eats?
I don't know if it's a secret, but Sprouts has a Community Eats event every other Friday. It's "free or by donation", and you have to bring your own plate/container.
The next one is Friday Oct. 10th from 11:30 to 1:30 in Sprouts, bottom floor of the SUB.
As a Sprouts volunteer I sure as hell hope it isn't a secret! Sprouts serve good food every weekday as well but Community Eats is certainly worth a mention.
I can second Reena's recommendation of Agora Cafe BTW, I went there last week and was seriously impressed. I'll definitely be going back.
This is a great idea guys...
That place in the SUB, the Deli I think? have all their sandwiches half off after 3PM on Fridays. It comes to really reasonable...the thing is I only remembered to go get them once in my three years here...go figure :)
