Need for UBC CS meet up
Posted May 6th, 2009 - 6:57 am by from Vancouver, Canada (Permalink)
Hey everyone,

It's been a while since we had one of these! Let's meet up this month. Let's say May 19th at 6:00pm at Koerner's pub.

And if you wanted to go to the Vancouver CS meet up at the Brick house afterwards, there would still be time!

Post on here if you're coming!

Yay, I'm down! I've never been able to make one of these before because my schedule always conflicted, but now that I'm finally free from classes and I can come!

See y'all in a couple weeks

Let me know how long you guys are staying there. I have tennis lesson at the UBC Tennis Centre from 18:00 to 19:30. I'll drop by if some of you are still there. Thanks for organizing again, Reena!

Cheers,
Shane

Hi Guys,

So sorry, I didn't make it to the meet up. Did you guys go? It totally slipped my mind because I had a huge crisis at home to deal with. Our hot water tank broke and was leaking everywhere and I needed to arrange for getting a new one. It was a big mess.

Hopefully next time is better...

Hey Jess,

Yeah, FirstWeek activities are generally aimed at first year undergrads. Sometimes there is decent live music for free around the SUB, but I wouldn't plan your day around it. I'd be happy to meet you for coffee or something.

And I would definitely be up for a UBC meet-up. We've done pub meet-ups, but since it's sunny I don't want to be inside. I intend to take advantage of the warm, sunny days and head down to Wreck Beach as much as possible before all the undergrads arrive and ruin the atmosphere (says the bitter grad student...). Anybody interested in meeting up for some beach time? Wreck is the best place in the city to watch a sunset and it looks like it will be sunny for the next few days.

Anyway, new events should probably be discussed in a new post, so I'll post something there eventually.

Eric
