Lets reorganice this to make it work!!!
Posted November 8th, 2008 - 11:05 am by from Mijas, Spain (Permalink)
Ok, I talked the other day with Alessio about making some changes and widen the field. And atract some more people.

My ideas are:

- Change the name of the Posting Group (the group of people (aka the club) could still be called "The wide Blind Elf" but the name of the Group inside of Bacelona's group should be more appealing to the people (specially girls, that run away when the hear the words "Role Playing Game". I propose a name like "B-SEM, BOARDGAMES's SUNDAY EVENING Meeting"

- Lets play ANYTHING!!! Not only role games and Wargames. Suggestions (not only mine but from other people) Risk (by ruben), Poker (by Daniel), Parchis (by some girl), Monopoly, Agricola, Hotel, Trivial Pursuit, Dominó, Mus, Jinka, Poker dices, Yahtzee!, Pictionary, Scatergoris, Scrable, Estratego, Chess, Reversi (aka Othello), Mankala, The movies, Cranium, etc. even Backgamon.

- We could bring some stuff to the meeting, food drinks, soft background music (I love heavy metal, but I understant that if everybody brings their own music that could be chaos). So maybe classic music, jazz, or pop really soft (not loud at all) could be ok.

- The date ... ? I think its clear isnt it? Sunday its perfect!

- The events. Initially we bring some games and play. Eventually we make competitions, Torneos, ... you name it, to spice it up a little bit.

- Part of the experience of going to a new country is not only visit their buildings, their monuments ... and so on. Its to mix with the people, to share their customs, to do what they could do on a "everyday" sunday evening. So this is part of the experience as well. I went to USA and I ate out, but I ate at home too. I went out, but I experience the sunday morning hangover. So this is ... the quiet day in where you dont want to do much. Maybe have some churros with chocolate and play a game of Parcheesi or Sorry! whatever you call it in you homeland.

Well, take care and ... I hope this ideas please you and then we could do something with them.

PS: And hey I DO love Role games as well, and we can show other people bits of those games so eventually some of the people would like to play role as well (FanHunter, Warhamer Fantasy, Warhamer 40K, Space Marines, StarCrusade, D&D, StarWars, BattleMaster, BattleTech, In nomini Satanis & Magna Veritas. And maybe some Card role game.)

Hey, hey, whats up. I thought you guys were more interested on making this group working!!

Write some replies, please!!!

1) I agree in changing the name of the group in something more easy to understand, at the start I thought that a lot of people would join, but at the end it didn't happen

2) I agree on sunday, to me it remain the best day to do anything without being to late

3) For me is fine to play anything. My only worries are "place enough big to contain X people" , "place open on sunday that allow games", "have enough games to carry with us because some games are limited to a defined amount of people"

4) Let's not avoid the possibility to play something more complex for us that we are the more expert or GEEK :D

Yep, the place is for me a "little" problem that we need to solve.
About the number of games ... well, I do believe if each one of us bring one ... hey, there should be plenty. Plus I was thinking to bring myself a couple of playing cards, a dominó, jinka, maybe a monopoly and a Rummy or something like that. They all will fit in my bag and there we would have 5 or 6 games to play, plus what other people brings. I probably would bring the manual and character sheets for FanHunter.

I do agree we can still play more complex games (I love the idea) but I do believe in a more soft aproach, like complex boardgames or easy role games. So people would learn slowly and finally we could have a nice amount of people to play from time to time role (or wargame) games, but other times monopoly style ones as well ;o)

Sunday? we play?

Posted November 14th, 2008 - 12:53 pm by from Mijas, Spain (Permalink)
OK, I MIGHT HAVE A PLACE !!!

But not until SUN the 23rd!!

Depending of how many people we are, I could host some boardgames at my house (I need to check it first with other members of the house. Depending on the amount of people we are in total). Plus my flat mates can join us.

The pros;

- I have a kitchen.
- I can fit arround 7 - 10 people (if we play 2 games, 4 & 4 people or 5 & 5 or so).
- My place is new and nice ;oP

The cons;

- It depends on what my flat mates say.
- You need to bring some games (I can bring just a couple for the moment.
- I live in Cerdanyola (22 minutes from Plaza Cataluña, by train) I used to live in Maragall (18 minutes by metro). So It´s not that far, just ... less convinient.

The ones who believe they could come please reply, so I can make a list. We can bring some food as well, some chocolate with churros and have a nice evening. :o)

Im keeping in mind all of you (the ones who manifest they are interested):

- Ruben Tapia
- Alessio Carone
- David France
- Eloi Pujadas Baques
- Aina Cabra
- Iva Janiga
- CurlyMolly
- Myriam Cachemire
- Skyscraper
- Daniel
- SIVINANDA
- Tony Truant
- Joao Torres
- Markus Dick
- Juan Fernandez
- Julien Faessel
- ANNOUSKA

Im making this to contact you when I know anything 100% sure.
The games or toys WE mentioned are:

- Risk - Uno
- Scrabble - Hotel(s)
- Playing cards - Fan Hunter
- Poker dices

I know to find a location is a big deal, but ... as long as I can and as long as we arent too many and behave, I belive I could host all of you (7-10). Still, the meeting could happend split in 2 or 3 places, at least for the first meetings.

PS: People pls, join the Sub-Group, so we would not overcrow the main Barcelona group with unecesary posts, and we would be more.

What a shame, I can't make it on 23rd!! I may join any other day : )

By the way... why don't we also play RUMIKUB?? Annouska taught me how to play it and it's really greaaat! Loads of thinking, though haha

Take care!!

Posted November 15th, 2008 - 1:59 am by from Mijas, Spain (Permalink)
Yes ... I do love Rumikub, but unfortunatelly I dont have it here but in malaga.
We might be able to play it with playing cards but ... I do believe they have to be poker cards (we need from 1 to number 13) and two sets of cards that are looking exactly the same.
We will look into it ;oP

I am ready to play and organise for this sunday :)
about the place, in few weeks I have an idea where we could play, but I need to ask :)

or maybe we could even organise at the Antiquari, upstairs or downstairs is normally a nice place to be, there are enough tables, and I am sure that they will not mind.

Hi are there any regular games going on?

Posted January 19th, 2010 - 8:12 am by from Barcelona, Spain (Permalink)
Hello guys, yes we are active, but it is a really small group that sometimes is playing between each other so we often don't post, because we organise last minute (we should organise a bit in advance really...)

we are still here, I am sometimes busy so I cannot always organise... for example this sunday I am busy doing some photoshooting.

You can make a proposal and I am sure that plenty of people would like to join
