spanish speakers in the inner north, hola!
Posted January 5th, 2013 - 4:33 am by from Melbourne, Australia (Permalink)
Last year I took a term of spanish lessons in preparation for my trip to south america this march and loved it! If there are any native spanish speakers (preferably south american for the accent) living around the inner north area I would love to arrange to meet and keep my skills fresh and hopefully improve my vocabulary a little more before I head off on my adventure :) Happy to help you with english, or just buy you a beer or a coffee in exchange!
hasta luego

so nice to meet so many spanish speaking friends :D

I have been in touch with carmen and we are going to meet on monday (14th) at 7pm in the CBD. Everyone is welcome! Does anyone know of a good place to meet? I know that cho gao in melbourne central has big tables for a group to sit at, and they are open late on Monday nights with food and drink specials... I just don't know how loud they play their music and if we will be able to talk!

any ideas?

Hi Megan,

I think the Spanish conversation that took place was at Naked for Satan (in Fitzroy, Brunswick St). They serve tapas, which is very Spanish.
I'd like to join you and Carmen if that's OK, I need to practice my Spanish too!

Cheers,
Sarah

hola! Over the weekend I did a little research and found a nice cafe in the CBD that is open late on weeknights and has nice big tables that we can sit at :) It's called 1000 pound bend, on little lonsdale street, number 361. Slight change of plans... Carmen and I will be meeting there at 6.15pm instead of 7. I will be bringing my spanish dictionary and some a few other resources I have :) anyone and everyone is welcome!

hasta mañana

I can't make it tonight, but will you be making this a weekly or fortnightly occurrence? Because I'd love to come another time. I lived in Peru for 7 months last year and my Spanish has already quickly diminished and I'd love to practice what little Spanish I have left!

Hola,

I would also be interested in coming along to the next spanish speaking meet up. I traveled around Central and South America for over a year - about two years ago. So my Spanish is a little rustic to put it lightly. I would love to start improving my spanish, and to help others to improve their english, while sitting in a park enjoying the beautiful weather.

Hola Chicos y chicas,

FOr those interested in group conversations, there is conversation weekly meeting organized by a guy called Kevin every Wednesday, from 6 to 8pm at Northcote Library, on the room at the end of the library.

I met them by chance because I listened they were talking Spanish and I´m usually not going because I work but I really recommend you to join them because they are nice people and talk the two hours in Spanish in groups of 3 to 6 people. They are not native pero hablan muy muy bien y yo conocí a gente muy maja.

Besides, Kevin is leaving Australia in March so it would be great if you join and take over the meetings!

If you guys interested, just drop youselves there on Wednesday or ask me for the email of Kevin in a private message to contact him if you want. t

Pasadlo muy bien!
