Language exchange weekly event
Posted March 8th, 2011 - 11:44 am by from Melbourne, Australia (Permalink)
Hey language lovers,

I would like to start a weekly event of language exchange in one of the bars in the city/Fitzroy/St. Kilda.

Inspired by something similar which is done in NYC, I think that could be a good opportunity to have an active "live and kicking" language exchange community, allowing casual couchsurfers to join too.

I can try to arrange a good deal with one of the bars (maybe "happy hour" fares for us) if I see that we have a critical mass of CSers who are interested.

So... Please let me know - are you guys into it?

Ciao,
Dudy

I'm keen! St.Kilda would be nice by it's a but far away for those (like me) traveling a fair distance into the city on the evening.

Whoo hoo! I've been busting for someone to organise one of these.

Please try to make it somewhere in the CBD so all of us can get to to it.

Any progress on this?

I'm really keen for something like this- can we make it happen? CBD would be great as it's acessible for most (all?), and it will be good to find a venue that won't get too noisy- no point in a conversation group when we can't hear each other :) Does anyone know such a place? I'm looking into it...

I'm just going to throw Wednesday evening 8pm out there- what do people think? Will depend on things such as venue I suppose but it's good to start somewhere :)

I'm hoping this will prove an excellent excuse to brush up on my Japanese. Wonderful idea Dudy, would be great to get everyone's thoughts and do it :)

Cheers,

Becky

7pm sounds great and i'm a fan of horse bazaar too, shall we give it a go? i haven't had much luck finding quiet city night spots, but it's a search in constant progress :)

only thing is i just happen to have something on this wednesday as a one off- would thursday be ok? if not, certainly you guys should meet up wednesday anyway (and tell me how it goes!!)

:) Becky

Its generated into 3 separate events German, French and Spanish. On the opposite fortnight to the CS Zone. Maybe during the spring/summer we can organise a night for all languages.

Maybe a Friday as I don't think it will clash with the other language nights.

I am happy to organise this event maybe sometime in late October/ November.
